Black Plague's Angel Discusses Debut EP, Playing Shows, and Touring Plans

Metal act Black Plagues have played shows and been working on their debut EP "Where It Begins" even going as far as releasing a new tune called "Bubonic". These guys have got plans on releasing that EP, playing more shows and touring to follow. Frontman vocalist Angel Plagues discusses all of this and more!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Angel: I met Graham at a show my old band played. Danny and I met online when my old band needed a guitarist and I met Gio when I was trying out for different bands.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Angel: It has no origin. I just thought it sounded cool. Haha

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Angel: We are based out of Los Angeles. The music scene is great but it can be better, and yes I jam out to a lot of local bands out here like Trapped In The Past, Eastern Poles, In Bloom, Lost In Antares and many more.

4. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

Angel: I'd say our style is a blend of many types of heavy music.

5. You released a song called "Bubonic", can you tell me about it, and why was it chosen as a single choice? Do you have any plans for new music besides this song?

Angel: The song Bubonic was originally gonna be the name of our EP and the main single but we changed it to "Where It Begins" and Bubonic will not be part of the EP. The song was written and recorded in one day but I had already written the lyrics that would become Bubonic long before that. The song is about a dark time in my life when I really wanted to die and I honestly felt like no one loved me, so the song is pretty much me wondering if anyone would care if I died and who would be at my funeral.

6. Do you play live as well? What do you have planned in terms of shows and touring, if any?

Angel: We do play live and currently we are mainly focused on finishing the EP before we start playing shows again. We do plan on touring but later on down the line like a year or  two.

7. What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?

Angel: Our music is very personal and I like to think we bring a lot to the table and we are able to promote and get ourselves out there a lot with just us so imagine what we could do with a label or promoter backing us.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Angel: Finishing the EP, playing more shows, merch, and a music video.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Angel: You can listen to us on YouTube and keep up to date on our social media account on Facebook.com/blackplagues and follow us on Instagram @blackplaguesband

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Angel: I just want people to enjoy our music and if they take something out of it that helps them out then that's great too.
