Mystica Girl's Conquest in Music

Mexico's Mystica Girls got their start in 2005 as a cover act then in 2007 became who they are today. Since they have released an EP and a debut full-length "Metal Rose" developing a whole new heavier style of music than what was previously portrayed. The band caught up to discuss their upcoming plans in regards to all new music and where in the world they will be tearing it up next.

1. Can you give us a brief history as to how Mystica Girls came to be and where the name came from?

Mystica Girls started as a cover band in 2005, then in 2007 we started our own music the name was the bassist’s idea.

2. How is the music scene in Mexico any bands you'd recommend?

People in Mexico don’t believe that there are excellent bands of all genres here. But there are so many places to have bands and events. We have been working a lot to go overseas promoting our music, in fact there are many good bands here and all over.

3. Tell me about your debut album "Metal Rose" what does the title represent and is it a concept album?

Metal Rose was the single off the CD. This was our way of introducing our band to the world. We know that we have to learn a lot of things and study a lot so we think it was good material to start with and people have been accepting the CD very well.

We have been sending out CDs to the U.S.A., Germany, France, etc. We also made a video of two songs recently it’s amazing how quickly the views are increasing like Metal Rose in less than a year time we got more than 470,000 views and the other video got 45,000 in just two months. This past April we released a new single that generated 10, 000 views in just 2 days time! That was very good news to us.

4. How does it differ from your EP “Diluvio”?

In the Diluvio EP we were still searching for our music style, in that EP there was a ballad and rock surfing song. While The Metal Rose EP was more musically mature.

5. What are your songs about? What specific themes do they cover?

We don’t usually work with a specific theme. We usually just compose the music then we add the lyrics depending on what the music feels like.

 6. Do you write your own songs? Can you discuss the songwriting process in detail?

Yes, our bassist and guitarist compose all of the music and sometimes our singer inserts the lyrics but we all work together to compose all of the songs.

7. Who are your musical influences?

Heavy metal, speed metal, death melodic metal, etc.

8. What are your expectations for the CD?

We want to be discovered with this CD and for the people who recognize us from around the world it has been working so well. Now we are promoting our single because our next CD will be better. We’ve made changes to this band by having a new front women and great drummer so now the band sounds more professional with sound and style.

9. Describe your show, visual and musically.

It has a lot of energy and personality but with a feminine touch.

10. What are your upcoming tour plans?

We are finishing up our second album which will be released by the end of this year. Then we are going to be touring in Central America once the plans are all worked out.

11. What advice would you give to fellow bands?

We have been very constant and believe in what we are doing.

12. How do you describe your music to people?

It’s an original blend of metal but with a strong technical musical feel with a defined melodic vibe.

13. Anything else you’d like to say or promote?

Just want to say thank you for reading this interview and to invite you all to get to know us and our music, videos, etc. It’s all available on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, etc. If you want a physical CD you can write to us mystica_girls@hotmail.com.
