XUL's Levi Prefers This Mosh Pit and has this Many Band Tees!
A five piece group based out of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, following in the footsteps of bands such as: Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal, XUL have left the beaten path and set out to forge their own brand of Blackened Death Metal. Frontman vocalist Levi Meyers discusses their band's latest efforts and what types of mosh pits, headbanging, and mosh pit tactics are in their own favor.
1. What type of band are you?
Levi: We classify ourselves as Blackened Death metal. One of the awesome things about metal, is that it doesn't have strict boundaries. We write music that we are passionate about.
2. Tell us the brief history of your band.
Levi: The band started with Bill and Lowell jamming a couple songs. When Wallace and Marlow returned from traveling around Europe, the band started to take off. Levi was living in the basement where we were jamming, and really surprised us with the brutality of his death metal vocals as he was the most light hearted and funny guy we knew. We played tons of local shows for about 5 years before we recorded our debut album, and so far have had an awesome response.
3. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Levi: “Xul” essentially means evil in ancient Sumerian. Although, to be honest, we first came across the word on the back of a Behemoth album.
4. How did you come together?
Levi: We've all known each other for a long time. When we were forming the band it just happened that our close friends were all talented musicians. It all worked out pretty easily and natural for us.
5. You guys have a unique sound, which bands would you say influence you the most?
Levi: Behemoth, Dissection, Immortal, Obscura and Watain have all had significant impact on our writing style.
6. Who writes the songs, what are they about?
Levi: Wallace and Bill usually write the foundation of the song, and we collaborate as a group to solidify the song. In Malignance, we focus on many different topics and ideas. A few that stand out are war and chaos, keeping the lyrical themes pretty black metal. Our new material is more focused on inner revelations and consciousness, with a little black magic in the mix.7. How does it feel to have your debut release completed and out for everyone to hear?
Levi: It’s awesome. We’re stoked on all the feedback we've gotten, and its satisfying to see how many people appreciate what we've created.
8. What was the inspiration for the album name "Malignance"?
Levi: Since it was our first release, the whole idea and reason for the album was to spread the knowledge of our existence to as many people as possible. We use the word “malignance” for its literal purpose, the unstoppable spread of an evil force.
9. Tell me about the song "Mastication Of Putrescent Empyrean Remains".
Levi: When we started out, we really tried to stay away from the religious side of heavy metal (ei. Satanism). So the song was written to solidify that fact, which it explains in the name itself. It actually means ripping the rotten corpse of god to pieces and eating it.
10. The entire band has long hair so who wins when it comes to headbanging? Do you have a favorite headbanging style to do?
Levi: We all windmill when we play live. It just feels natural, and makes for a gnarly live performance.
11. How many band t-shirts including your own bands are in your personal collection?
Levi: That’s an impossible question to answer. Too many? Not enough?
12. Do you dress in black attire everyday or wear a band t-shirt with shorts, jeans, or some other type of appeal from time to time?
Levi: We wear all black all the time. Except on Labor Day.
13. What is your favorite type of mosh pit, circle pits, wall of death, or typical pushing and shoving?
Levi: Circle pits are cool when they go well. But, if a show has the right attitude and intensity, and enough alcohol, every mosh pit will be fun.
14. What are your upcoming plans for 2013?
Levi: We’re working on a new 4 song EP, and we’re going to tour as much as possible. We want 2013 to be the most productive year yet, and keep spreading the malignant, evil force that is XUL.
15. Anything else you want to say to your fans?

SISTER SIN PREMIERE “HEARTS OF COLD” VIDEO
Directed by Eric Richter in Chicago, Illinois, the video packs a ferocious punch in a span of four minutes and sixteen seconds that will have your adrenaline rushing with your fist held high. The song is loosely based on characters Mikey and Mallory from the 1994 movie Natural Born Killers and mirrors the Finnish, real life version of them; Juha Veikko Valjakkala and Marita Routalammi, who crossed the border over to Sweden and killed a family of three.
Underoath Releases New Video for "Sunburnt"
UnderØath has premiered a new video for their single "Sunburnt". This may very well end up being their final music video, which was directed by the bands own Daniel Davidson. Underoath is also currently on their "Farewell" tour, and a full list of dates can be found HERE. Check out the video below!
Death Valley High - Survival Program
As such this release features remixes done by The Frail, Z–Rokk (of Automatic Static, Key to Arson & Simon Says), & RKA (of Death Valley High) as well as two all new tracks "Doomsday In the Disco" and a cover of Peaches "Fuck the Pain Away," each of which portrays its own method of skill set. "Doomsday In the Disco" enhances vocalist Reyka Osburn approach to stretching his vocal chords from screaming to just singing along, the instrumental portions are layered out hard and heavy having its degree of moments happen here and there. While cover tune "Fuck the Pain Away," by the Peaches keeps the pop rock melodies alive and well with an added usage of techno beats making the music come together as a whole. The remaining set are of course the remixed tunes and these go in saying that they are indeed technical and creative surly to get the beats bouncing with each time they are played let alone heard.
More is to come from the musical skill set and abilities that is Death Valley High a band that has come a long way and still see's more coming at them!
Incite - All Out War
These alone are played rather well really exposing the maturity and development from where the band first came - way back when their debut "The Slaughter" surfaced in 2009. As it turns out Richie Cavalera the vocals behind the microphone, did his role in other projects from Soulfly, Cavalera Consipiracy, and even Sepultura going further back when. Now that Incite has reached a true meaning to his and the abilities as his bandmates, there is no turning back for them.
It's an evolution that remains clear across the record, every element stands out in full effect. Nothing but loud, aggressive, aggression easily winning on even more fans with every musical aspiration that crosses their minds and paths as one.
First Class Trash – Party Through Apocalypse
Electronic rock band from the City Of Sin Las Vegas, Nevada,
First Class Trash's debut EP "Party Through Apocalypse", takes you to
the outer reaches of the musical dimension. As soon as opening track

Legend Of Leviathan's Spencer and Tyler doesn't CARE that their band isn't the BEST Around
Coming from Florence, Alabama with grindcore roots and 3 members, Legend of Leviathan has become a 5 piece going through many line-up changes and a change in direction bringing Deathcore and Death Metal together as one. They go on to say that "We're not trying to be the "best" band around, we don't care if you think your band is better or IS better, our lyrics are what they are, we try to make the band better with every show and practice!" Drummer Spencer Letsinger and guitarist Tyler Thompson discusses this Alabama sensation.
1. Where are you from?
Florence, Alabama.
2. How did you come together?
Legend Of Leviathan originally started as a 3 piece grindcore band in 2009. Original members consist of;

3. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Well the Leviathan is a mythical creature that takes the form of a sea serpent in the bible. In Greek mythology it is also a serpent, as well as an omen of destruction.
It is our first EP. We finally found the sound we were going for with it's release.
5. Where did a title such as "The Cleansing of Mankind" come from and what does it represent?
Well we were referring to the eradication of all religion, as well as exposing the hypocrisy of man.
6. Who designed the artwork and what does it mean?
Cheyenne Carter. The album artwork seemed to fit with the them of cleansing the Earth.
7. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Basically, they take the same approach lyrically as the album name infers.
8. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Tyler and Hagan usually lay down various guitar tracks until something clicks. Spencer then adds drums once we have a solid foundation for a song. Matt writes the lyrics once the song's structure is set in stone.
9. Who are your musical influences?

10. What are your dreams and goals?
To make a living off of playing music.

12. Describe your show, visual and musically for us?
Well Matthew likes to drink in excess before our performances. The whole band tries to be as intense and hateful as possible on stage.
13. What advice would you give to fellow bands?Get a job.
14. What inspires you to do what you do?
Alabama lifestyle!
15. How does music affect you and the world around you?
It is a vent for whatever emotions are being held in. Our views on various subjects are expressed through our music.
16. What else do you guys have lined up for 2013?
We are currently writing a new album titled "Conspiracy Theory". It a huge progression on our musicianship in our eyes.
