Naked Sunday Talks of Next Album, Shows, and Planned Music Videos and More!
Hard rockers NAKED SUNDAY have four albums under their belts, with album number five expected soon enough. The band has plans for some shows as well within this next year, along with creating music videos, more content, and making the world more known about how they create and why they do so! The band talks about it all below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Naked Sunday came together originally as a one-man project by Martin Stanyer, a few lineup changes later, you have what has been this band for the last 8 years, which is Martin Stanyer vocal, guitar, piano, Laura Stanyer, bass, vocal, Alex Williams guitar &vocal and Liam Collins, Drums, piano, vocal. The band became a band because of good friendships, and that we wanted to make music for us, that was a mixture of styles, the joy in writing is even we don’t know where it goes next.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Plain and Simple, Stone Temple Pilots had a song called Naked Sunday, I liked the words how they sounded, and took it from there, people have varying interpretations of that, but that’s the truth.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
Stafford is where we are from, there is a scene here, mainly thanks to the guys at ShoeString studios who have helped create that. Of the bands locally I would recommend The Mad Badgers, The Centaurs and The David Barron Band.
4. How would you describe your style?
Eclectic, firm foot in hard rock n harmonies is how I’d describe us, not afraid to do our own thing, write on the offbeat or create something gentle, we make music that represents our experience of life.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
4 Albums so far, our latest being Library of Medication, however each album is unique, each piece holds something different, people can expect music that is uplifting, powerful, and not afraid to be itself, something against the grain of what everyone else does, but a familiar sound.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Yes, album number 5, Let Them features Laura on her first main vocal, something she lyrically wrote with her friend Nat, All My Friends is a favorite, and can’t get you off my mind is something acoustic. One more trip around the sun is quite emotive, it’s hard rock and a song I wrote with my friend Tina.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Next year we have gigs in Stafford, Coalville, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Birmingham to name a few.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Music videos right now, content, opening the doors into our world more, about how we create, why we create, I’d like to piece together a film using our music as the story and soundtrack.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Spotify via here; https://open.spotify.com/artist/0pTf2tNEqMGEtREnrgq18f?si=aTKIQ1ReQWGO9nFnI2Oxqw or physically at gigs or via Facebook Messenger.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
The emotion that went into creating the art, the words, such as in Hospital Bed ‘I just need a friend’.
