Following the unfortunate loss of one of metal's most revered vocalists, Warrel Dane (Sanctuary, Nevermore), prior to Sanctuary's upcoming dates supporting Iced Earth across North America, the band has announced the tour will go forth as planned. The shows will act as a farewell tour in tribute to the life and memory of Dane with guest vocals for Sanctuary to be performed by Joseph Michael (Witherfall). 

Sanctuary guitarist Lenny Rutledge comments: "Sanctuary has decided to continue on with the Iced Earth tour to pay tribute to our brother Warrel Dane. We have enlisted the help of our friend Joseph Michael from Witherfall. The set will consist of many old and some newer songs performed with the utmost respect and quality to honor our friend. Please join us in this farewell as we celebrate Warrel's musical legacy with Sanctuary. We look forward to sharing this tribute with all of you."

Metaprism have announced the details of their upcoming new album titled "Catalyst To Awakening". The album is mastered by Tony Lindgren (Dragonforce, Kreator, Angra, Enslaved, Pharrell Williams, Blondie, etc.) and contains guest appearances from Timo Somers [Delain] on the song "Anomalous II: Ghost of Asylum", and from Marco Pastorino [Temperance] & Chiara Tricarico [Teodasia] (former vocalist at Temperance) on the song "Incarcerate". Metal giants ICED EARTH are excited to reveal plans to bring their "pure and absolutely incorruptible heavy metal" (Rock Hard Italy) to fans across North America as they announce details on their "Incorruptible" World Tour in 2018.

Founding member and songwriter Jon Schaffer reveals: "Brothers and sisters! We are very aware at how impatient you have been getting about our North American tour announcement, but the time has arrived!! We will be seeing you soon in a very extensive USA/Canada run.  Be there, it will be an awesome time for sure!"

The band, consisting of Schaffer, drummer Brent Smedley, vocalist Stu Block,
bassist Luke Appleton, and new guitarist Jake Dreyer, will venture across the U.S. and Canada from February 22 through March 29 with featured support from Sanctuary and Kill Ritual. Dates are as follows:

HEADBANGERS BALL - The original will have a loud and live comeback! Headbangers Ball - a name that bears pure heavy metal nostalgia - will come to life again! By the end of this year, MTV's classic 80's show shall return as a series of events. MTV Headbangers Ball, hosted by Continental Concerts in cooperation with MTV, is going to tour Europe. Just like the classic TV show presented by Vanessa Warwick, the festival tour is going to embody the cutting edge and timeless essence of pure f**king metal!

Headliner of this festival tour will be U.S. metal gods ICED EARTH! Formed in Florida in the mid-80s, the band celebrated its international breakthrough with the album "Burnt Offerings", which defined the band's trademark style between power and thrash metal. Their last album "Plagues Of Babylon" came out in 2014 and charted on #5 in Germany. To this day, the band is recognised as one of the most successful traditional metal acts.

Finish headbangers ENSIFERUM are considered one of the most successful musical exports from Northern Europe. Integrating traditional instruments such as the Finnish kantele into their rousing, aggressive metal sound, they can rely on a rabid fan-base and recently scored #1 in the Finnish charts as well as #15 in Germany for the latest album "One Man Army".

Earlier in this year Canadian / American Death Metal Act KATAKLYSM completed an incredibly successful tour throughout Europe covering forty four cities in support of their new album "Of Ghosts And Gods". The band is considered as one of the biggest and well-established acts in Death Metal for many years now and stands out through their characteristically musical interplay between aggressive drum sounds and melodic guitar tracks and crushing grooves , the band recently won the Juno award in Canada (Equivalent to a grammy) for best "heavy metal album of the year" for their latest album "Of Ghosts and Gods".

Modern metal outfit UNEARTH from Massachusetts/USA completes this diverse and absolutely crushing billing. The band's most recent studio album "Watchers Of Rule" was released in 2014 and this furious live act will perfectly open up the MTV Headbangers Ball tour.

ICED EARTH's first officially recorded DVD/Blu-Ray, Live In Ancient Kourion, will hit stores April 16 in North America (and April 15 in Europe)! For this live release, the band recorded an epic 2.5 hour show in a 6,000 year old amphitheater with an incredible, unique atmosphere. To give fans a preview of this must-have DVD, ICED EARTH has now teamed up with Metal Hammer Germany to premiere the live track "I Died For You" listen to it HERE.

Century Media Records artist Iced Earth released their music video for "Anthem" on Revolver Magazine, Tuesday, January 24th. The video was shot in Cologne, Germany during the European leg of Iced Earth's world tour.

This is the second video produced and directed by Kosch Fabian Films and is off the band's most recent release, 10th studio album DYSTOPIA.

Iced Earth will be hitting the road with Symphony X beginning January 31st in Hartford, CT. Check it out below!

New Jersey’s progressive metal juggernauts SYMPHONY X will be returning to North America for a co-headlining tour with heavy metal stalwarts Iced Earth. Opening each night will be L.A. thrashers Warbringer. The 32-show trek will launch in Hartford, Connecticut on January 31st, weave through the Great White North, then blow out the lights in Clifton Park, New York on March 11th.

American power metallers ICED EARTH played their final show with singer Matt Barlow at this year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival on August 6 in Wacken, Germany. Professionally filmed video footage of the entire performance can be seen below.

Matt Barlow has announced his departure from ICED EARTH in March. In a heartfelt statement, Barlow cited his commitment to his family and the need for ICED EARTH to tour more as the reasons for his retirement; however, he committed to performing with ICED EARTH on all 2011 European festival dates, including Wacken Open Air.

Matt Barlow's official statement was as follows:

"Brothers and sisters,

"Let me begin by saying how much of an honor it has been to share my time in ICED EARTH with Jon and the guys…and with all of you! Since my return to the band in 2007, it has truly been extraordinary. I have had the opportunity to travel the world and see old friends and meet new ones. Though we had originally thought that the ICED EARTH touring schedule would be very limited, we were able to play our fair share of concerts.

"During that time we were also able to have a live DVD produced [the forthcoming 'Festivals Of The Wicked']. However, due to the rapidly changing music industry, it has become increasingly clear to recording artists that the only way to keep a band viable and to truly reach its potential is through live performances. That means that a band must reach out to new regions of the globe and become pioneers for their own livelihood. Since 2007, Jon and I have always had the best intentions for the future of ICED EARTH, and we still do. However, given the band's projected touring schedule, ICED EARTH's future and mine must now take separate paths.

"On my departure from ICED EARTH in 2003, I made a commitment to my wife and to the idea that we would start, and raise, our family together. Two years later, my first child was born and two years after that, my second. My youngest son was born about a week before Jon asked me to return to ICED EARTH. It was a very exciting and emotional time for all of us, but we were all clear on our intentions. It is apparent to us now that regardless of our belief at that time, time can change an intended outcome. In this instance, I hope that change will not be regarded as a bad thing, but rather as a necessary part of evolution.

"Jon and the band must venture into new realms to continue to grow ICED EARTH. I commend him for his ideals and wish nothing but to share in his vision. I know that this is not the last time Jon and I will work together, but it will be my last endeavor with ICED EARTH. ICED EARTH is a name and force of its own. It has been very good to me and has allowed me to live a dream that others would give most anything for. I have been truly blessed to share this experience with everyone. I will continue to support Jon and ICED EARTH in every way. I will also continue to create and perform in my own capacity.

"These next months will prove to be a very emotional time for me. I am extremely happy to be able to share the experience with Jon, Brent, Freddie, Troy and the ICED EARTH family. I am proud to know them and honored that they consider me their friend. It is going to be phenomenal to share the love of this music during several summer festivals and I know that it will be a time we will never forget.

"Please consider all that I have brought forth and all of Jon's offerings before passing judgment on the future of ICED EARTH. This band has always strived to give its listeners the very best and I know that Jon, as always, will continue to lead that charge.

"To ICED EARTH and all of you…I wish you the very best!!!"

ICED EARTH's 10th studio album, "Dystopia", is scheduled for release in Europe on October 17 and in the U.S. on October 18 via Century Media Records. The CD will mark the band's recording debut with singer Stu Block (INTO ETERNITY), who joined ICED EARTH in March following the departure of Barlow. (Note: Block will make his live debut on the European leg of ICED EARTH's world tour in November.)

The release of "Dystopia" will be followed by the most extensive world tour ICED EARTH has ever undertaken.

The European leg of the 2011-2012 "World Dystopia Tour" has been posted on the band's official web site, and all official social-media sites. The trek begins October 30 in Bochum, Germany.
