It’s been about 10 years since catching metalcore act Unearth and a little over 15 years since last seeing Bleeding Through. Now so many years later, catching both together at the local LA County venue 1720 right next to Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, it was quite a night!

Having arrived at the venue a little after doors had opened around 6PM, with the openers already performing, missing their showcases was so last minute sadly. Following those performances would be Unearth co-headlining with Bleeding Through and their set was extensive. As soon as they started performing the whole venue went insane. Nobody stood still, every which way was total movement. People diving off the stage, the mosh pit exploded with so much pushing and dancing it was intense. Unearth’s performance was fantastic, a lot of the songs taken from previous older releases, getting the audience’s reaction in an uproar of excitement. There was so much excitement that fans leapt off the stage, into the audience that caused some minor injuries, some people getting hit and banged up. But that didn’t stop the chaos that kept getting intenser by the minute, that a lot of the people were leaving it got so nutty. But that just meant that Unearth did a fine job of getting everyone’s attention.

UNEARTH:

Following them would be headliners Bleeding Through, who went through an impressive set list of a lot of older tracks such as “On Wings of Lead”, “Kill to Believe”, “Revenge I Seek”, and “Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire”, among others like “Rise” and “For Love and Failing”. About a 12 song setlist was played in total, having the frontman enter the crowd and mosh pit amongst the crowd of on lookers, who jumped around him whilst he sang. Other times had many stage diving a few times, with others dancing and pushing one another. It was such a chaotic night, but so much fun and tiring too.

BLEEDING THROUGH:

All in all Bleeding Through and Unearth are both acts that capture that true essence of the early 2000’s metal scene, capturing that same vibe of energy right here tonight. Everyone was having fun, enjoying themselves, and just taking in all there was to take which was music.

SETLIST:

1. Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire
2. Orange County Blonde and Blue
3. Dead But So Alive
4. Revenge I Seek
5. For Love and Failing
6. Lost I Isolation
7. Rise
8. No Friends
9. I Am Resistance
10. Sister Charlatan
11. Kill To Believe
12. On Wings Of Lead

UNEARTH delivers another bar raising track of extraordinary musicianship loaded with technical prowess and an utterly brutal vocal delivery, taking listeners from dismal to hopeful and yet again raising UNEARTH to higher ground.

Trevor Phipps says, "A riff fueled interstellar endeavor sums up our third single ‘Into the Abyss’.  Our future planet is in disrepair and the fortunate are forced to flee to a distant world to continue the human race while billions of the less fortunate are left behind to meet a hellish end. Buz McGrath lights the path with a journey of melodic riffs, leads and solos that set it apart from the bulk of The Wretched; The Ruinous album. Beyond oblivion we ride!"

"'Mother Betrayal' is an ominous banger heavily laden with the melodic death metal, thrash and metallic hardcore combination that has signified our sound since the beginning. It kicks up the aggression and ferocity beyond previous recordings while also veering into new territories musically, vocally and structurally.  'Mother Betrayal' is a warning that we are smashing past multiple ecological tipping points caused by our dependence on fossil fuels that will forever alter life on our planet," says Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH. "Mother Betrayal" is the second single from the upcoming album The Wretched; The Ruinous, dropping May 5, 2023. Check out the new single HERE.

UNEARTH’s  new music was recorded, once again, with renowned Producer/Engineer Will Putney.  UNEARTH Vocalist Trevor Phipps explains, "'The Wretched; The Ruinous' is a summation of our upcoming album as a whole musically and lyrically as it showcases the aggression, power, melody, energy and darkness that is full-throttle UNEARTH. Thematically this lead track puts the full blame on Mankind for the destruction of our planet, and the mass extinction of millions of species, as well as the eventual eradication of man due to our negligence with the climate crisis.

The first video for the new record was shot in one of our favorite places to tour on the planet, Tokyo, Japan. The raw energy from the crowd was captured by the talented Seidai Takekoshi and his additional cinematographers Seijito Nishimi and Ryo Minekawa whom all got into the crowd, in the pit and on stage to properly capture the power and emotion this song brings and we are excited to show you all the end result. See you on the road worldwide in 2023 and beyond."

After an awe-inspiring 20 years of blazing trails and dominating stages, UNEARTH is now
institutionalized as a relentless force in heavy metal, standing the test of time with
consistently triumphant creative output, tireless road warrior resilience, Blue Collar style
workmanship and a resolute determination to deliver the goods.

Like Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Testament and Anthrax before them, UNEARTH emerged as part of a burgeoning revolution in heavy music but continued to maintain their relevance and mastery of their craft. They’ve resisted and prevailed against changing trends, subcultural fashions and the way music is obtained and distributed with their credibility, integrity and unique persona intact.

Therefore, it makes perfect sense the band have decided to sign a worldwide deal with the global-dominating, barrier-shattering metal label CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS on their seventh full-length release.

The band commented: "For three decades Century Media have been a highly trusted and leading force in Heavy music and we are proud to further our partnership with them to a Worldwide level.  We saw their passion for music, dedication to promotion, ability to help secure touring/festival opportunities and the face to face personal relationships bands desire from labels from the European team during their release of our last album ‘Watchers of Rule’, so we know CM is the right worldwide home for us to bring everyone what’s next in all things UNEARTH."

We want to thank everyone at Century Media for bringing us into the fold to partner with a label that has such a rich history in Heavy Metal and Hardcore while also continuing to be at the top of the label game.  We’ll see you all this summer starting on Warped Tour and continuing far beyond with worldwide touring on our new album.”

Century Media Europe's Head of A&R, Jens Pretuer added: "It was 15 years ago when I first saw Unearth in 2003 at the local Pressure Festival in Essen, Germany with Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn, Caliban, Naglfar, Stampin’ Ground, Maroon, Aborted and Carnal Forge. Hatebreed, Amon Amarth and Youth Of Today played as well but it was almost a Century Media festival – and actually a perfect example how close metal and hardcore could get.

I was a huge fan of Unearth’s "Endless" EP (2002) and their performance was sheer energy – and it still is! It was great to follow their evolution starting from the early metalcore scene to the main stages of major festivals like Wacken, Hellfest and also this year’s Warped Tour. We already released their last album "Watchers Of Rule" on Century Media Europe and are very proud about a new worldwide partnership. Thanks, Unearth! Looking forward to the next chapter!"

UNEARTH are excited to reveal they will soon begin recording the highly anticipated follow-up to 2014's "Watchers of Rule" (previously released on Century Media in Europe and eOne Music in North America), with Will Putney (Every Time I Die, Body Count, Gojira, Thy Art Is Murder, Silent Planet) at Graphic Nature Studios. Additionally, the band have confirmed that Killswitch Engage's Adam D. will be recording drums for the effort. A late Summer/early Fall release is expected.

Mike Gitter, Vice President of A&R for Century Media USA, further commented: "Unearth have an unshakable foundation that they build on record to record. They’ve become a key player in today’s metal landscape and will remain that for many records to come.

Will Putney has become one of metal’s true "go-to" guys and a production force in his own right. Having Adam D. involved is a creative stamp that has been part of Unearth’s best work to date. Having them both involved should be absolutely crushing."

With over 500,000 in worldwide album sales, UNEARTH’s continued staying power has also
hinged on their highly interactive and toweringly heavy live performances. The band have previously appeared with a diverse group of bands in the metal, hardcore and heavy rock elite in addition to making their mark at several prestigious festivals worldwide including Download Festival (UK), Full Force & Wakken (Germany), Hellfest (France), and Loud Park (Japan) - just to name a few.

UNEARTH will next be seen featured on the final installment of the annual Vans Warped Tour on the Mutant White Lightning stage. For tickets & further information, please visit http://vanswarpedtour.com/. Check out the dates below.
