Industrial rock outfit Cohesion, is a music making machine, whose engine is put into overdrive, as they are driven into creating fast, hard hitting, no need for brakes type of material! With that said, the band has a current single out and about, with more underway! Discover all that was said about why, how, and where this act plans to be between now into this next year coming forth!
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
It all started as a solo project for Skink (singer) and from there expanded into what is now Cohesion. We've all been involved with each other in some format or another since going to uni together and after years of back and forth and swapping things round we're now at this period in the evolution of the band and it's great - things sit a lot nicer now, the instruments gel more, the rehearsals are smoother and each member is getting more involved with writing so all these great influences from each of our backgrounds are seeping through which makes it sound more...Cohesive!
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Everyone asks this and I wish I had a better answer than: Honestly I can't remember! Had a long list of all possible names that I was working through, one day Cohesion came about and stuck and I loved it...it wasn't even on the list!
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We're based in London, UK. The scene is quite crazy...competition is through the roof and it's just oversaturated with bands, both good and bad, and it can be really hit or miss with how supportive everyone is. But then again the opportunities (if you can get them!) are more worthwhile, you know?
4. How would you describe your style?
Alternative Metal with a dash of Industrial just for edge. Think NIN, Tool and Deftones had a baby, and you'd be on the right track...
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Our new single "Avarice" is what we're pushing right now, we fucking love it. We've had a couple singles before to various effect but this one is the first one we've really got behind and though "yeah, this rocks" and all our new ones lined up are like this, we've been heavily self-critical and culling all the weaker ones to shorten the set. Hard to do at first but man do we feel more into the ones we've kept. Our new stuff is full on, got the chops, the grooves, the production is great...it's like, "Yeah, we're Cohesion, we've arrived."
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Of course! We already have the next two singles ready to go, in the final stages of mixing with both - next one should be out June/July time - we're letting 'Avarice' have its chance to shine first though aha!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Shows we've got a couple, a festival in May and a couple of small local ones - we're planning a mini UK tour for late 2018 but to be honest, we've been so busy in the studio and trying to sort our through our songs we've put gigging on the back burner. All about to change very soon though!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Conquer the world? Obviously.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
Anywhere - Spotify, iTunes, Facebook, Youtube - "all good retailers" and that ol' spiel.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
"Wow - these folks can groove!" If we can get a chorus line stuck in someone's brain for a week and can get them to do that mini headbang you always do at home to your favorite tunes, we've won. Cohesion Out!
