Shane Slaughter Calls his Music the Meta-Beat!

Electronic artist Shane Slaughter, has created a genre he calls "meta-beat" with that he has gone on to play shows, and release music of course. That said, Shane himself, took some time to discuss his music craft and what he plans to do!

1. What type of artist are you?

Shane: I’m an electronic artist. I make all type of electronic sounds. I call my genre Meta-Beat.

2. What’s the origin of the your stage name Shane Slaughter? Is "Shane" your real name and you decided to throw in Slaughter for fun?

Shane: Yes my real name is Shane. I made up the name “Shane Slaughter” back in the Myspace days when everyone was making some sort of name like that. I used it to release a few really bad metalcore tracks in like 2010 but never used it again until September 2012 when I started this project.

3. Where are you based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local acts you could recommend?

Shane: I’m from the little state of New Hampshire. There really isn’t a music scene here so I would put myself in the Boston, MA area scene. It’s pretty much entirely pop-punk and metalcore bands but, there is a small gothic-electronic scene and some EDM in clubs like Whisky Saigon and others but I can’t play those yet. Devlyn Sydus is a like sort of Nu-Metal/Industrial/Gothic band from Boston and they are great, There is also my favorite which is Lions Lions which is a post-hardcore band that everyone around here loves. Besides them it’s pretty slim but some more to name are: Trophy Wives, Riddles McCarthy, Seven Spires, and more that I can’t think of right now haha.

4. You released a video for the song "Fleek Beak", can you disclose the song's contents and the video's concept?

Shane: The name is kind of satire because I would see “on fleek this” and “on fleek that” so it was just me trying to be funny. The video though was very unplanned my Anthony in It Lives, It Breathes was just like “you wanna do a video?” and I said yes! The reason it’s kind of short is because the venue yelled at him for filming. So I guess there really wasn’t a concept.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Shane: I’ve released 3 EPs, 1 Album, and 1 Mixtape. My first 2 EP are kind of weird and bad in my opinion, I was still trying to find myself. My debut album Nightlife is great! I think it has allot of good party tracks on it along with some really pretty and slow tracks. Same goes for the Darkside EP and the Summer Songs Mixtape! It’s for anyone looking to have fun and to lose their self!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Shane: Yes I’m actually working on a 6 song EP with a different vocal feature on each track. It should be out between March and June of next year!

7. Have you played any live shows, can you describe what your performances are all about?

Shane: Yes I have played allot of shows! My performance is usually crazy like jumping off balconies and getting on top of the bar and stuff! Although sometimes I keep it on stage and have a laid back show. Like I just opened for Aiden and I was pretty mellow. All depends on how I feel!

8. What plans do you have for the future?

Shane: I am hoping to have the EP out. March 8th is the goal! I am going to have some great artist featured on it and I’m really looking forward to that! Besides that I’m taking a break and doing some one off shows here and there before my March tour.

9. Where can we listen to your music and where can we buy your stuff?

Shane: Most of my bigger/favorite tracks are on youtube.com/ShaneSlaughterTV and my album Nightlife and few singles are on iTunes and my EP The Darkside is free on Bandcamp.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Shane: That it’s all about having fun and letting loose and letting your mind explore. I guess most of all is that if someone is having a shitty day I want them to be able to listen to my music and have a good time! I also want my show to be a safe community at people of all kinds can come and have fun without the thoughts of bullshit that is going on. I want to bring PLUR back! Thanks for reading this interview. I would also like to thank Nataliez World for taking the time to interview me! I am Shane Slaughter peace out!
