Straight Line Stitch's Alexis Talks Touring, Live Material, and Possibly Turning Own Work into Acoustic Style

Straight Line Stitch formed around the year 2000, since then they added frontwomen vocalist Alexis Brown, since then they have gone on to tour, play shows, release material including most recent release, an EP entitled "Transparency". Speaking of their frontwomen Alexis Brown, she was the one to give us a brief rundown on the band's current activity, including their time on the road and future plans.

1. Does your band's name, Straight Line Stitch, mean what it says, is it actually a Straight Line Stitch? How did you guys come to get that name, if you wouldn't mind telling me.

Alexis: The band name was conceived before I actually joined which was in 2004. I wish it had a meaning, but unfortunately it doesn't.  I was told that the name came about by misinterpreted lyrics which they apparently thought was cool enough to name a band after.

2. You guys have been a band for 15 years, did you have any idea? Do you plan on celebrating in any way or do anything special?

Alexis: I try not to think about how long I've been with the band because it's kind of bittersweet. We gained a lot through those years and we lost a lot. As far as celebrating, every day is a celebration that we are still here, continuing to tour, and make music.

3. When will we be seeing a live album or DVD from you guys?

Alexis: I'm unsure. Probably way down the line.

4. If you were to release both or one or the other, where would it be and why?

Alexis: I honestly haven't thought that far ahead. I've learned through many of setbacks that you have to take things day by day. That's not saying we don't have goals because we do, its just I no longer plan so far ahead.

5. Speaking of live performances, you guys have been out on tour, so what can the fans expect to hear on this touring run, a lot of the new stuff, old stuff, or a mixture of the two?

Alexis: Fans will hear a mixture of new and old material.

6. How do you think this touring cycle, will turn out for you guys and everyone else a part of it?

Alexis: I think it will be good because all the bands are good and they're all great people.

7. When it comes to performing each and every night, does the time stand still or just fly by?

Alexis: Well it depends, if it's an awesome night without a bunch of hiccups then it flies by but if it's a night that is plagued with issues then time slows to a miserable crawl but isn't that always how it goes in life?

8. What song do you enjoy playing the most and the least?

Alexis: I love playing Laughing in the Rearview and I dread playing Bar room Brawl because it's so intense and doesn't let up. lol My vocals get an intense workout.

9. Will we ever be hearing your material in an acoustic format?

Alexis: Yes. Most definitely! We've actually been talking about that here lately.

10. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Alexis: I pray more music and better tours.

11. Have any final words of wisdom to the fans?

Alexis: To all our fans old & new we could have never done this without you!!! As long as you keep supporting we'll keep giving you the best that we've got! Love you more than you will ever know. xoxo!
