EIGENSINN's Nemsis Talks All About the New Album

Whoever could combine this many genres from rock, alternative, metal, and industrial, is probably doing something right in the case of EIGENSINN, this is the path they wanted to go with picking out. It suits them to say the least, so much so that they have been hard at work writing and recording for their new album "POSTMORTEM" via the band's very own label echozone. Frontwomen vocalist Nemesis discusses about this album, future, and more.

1. So what can you tell me about this new album?

Nemesis: It took us some time to write the songs. We started writing in 2010/2011 and finished in the beginning of 2015. Through that time there had been some crisis of band members which slowed down the process of being creative. On the other hand it gave some new aspects and ideas and brought some kind of flavor into the songs and especially to the lyrics. You can say, the band rises like a phoenix and here we are, feels like new born! Music is the therapy!!! The album acts from the deepest and sometimes unbounded emotions of mankind as self-hate, desire, vengeance like in S.O.A.B. There are some tragic own experiences that flew into our songs for example the death of a loved person.

2. What title did you decide to go with it and is there a meaning behind it?

Nemesis: The title of our work is "Post Mortem". Yes, there is a meaning and intention behind it. It describes some kind of deathly desire in shape of a seductive woman. She calls him or her to get down to her grave. Everyone can create his own picture with this song.

3. Is this album going to be a concept release?

Nemesis: Not really, but the songs have that central theme layered by the subject of death and distortion, who appears in different shapes. For example "Kinder des Zorns" describes the feelings and thoughts of children in arms who fight a war. We tell the story through their lost eyes.

4. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?

Nemesis: The recording is finished, the mixing is done, Layout and artwork is created -so POSTMORTEM is ready to be sold and to be loved! We are so looking forward to get these little Deamons to be heard by you all out there -so don't miss July 10th for the official release!

5. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?

Nemesis: Our Chief Producer and mastermind is Holly known as Holger Heisenberg ;) he is the founder of the band with our singer Nemesis. And this always result in a very creative and nearly blind understanding during writing and recording. He knows what kind of sound fit the album needs and which style we want to create.

6. Where are you recording the album?

Nemesis: We recorded everything by ourselves in our own backyard. This time we had the total control in every step of the recording process. Beyond that, all mixing and mastering was done by Kai Stahlenberg in his Kohlekeller Studios. We love this guy -he's definitely a good one and always a pleasure to work with.

7. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Nemesis: Well -the big goal before the recording process was to start the recording process: We have several steps while writing songs, shaping up sounds and lyrics, again and again, to really create something that will fit our passion for the song. Many demos where recorded and also many of them where dumped. So this was a hard goal to reach, but finally we made it and we are proud about the result.

8. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Nemesis: Not yet, but we are planing to use a Okarina, a little flute from the Italian alps which is used in their traditional folk-music -connect an overdrive to this thing and you will get a very strange noise! Oh damn -we unveiled the secret! :-)

9. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous albums?

Nemesis: We started in 2010/2011. We always work on an song for a particular duration, and often we tear it down to pieces, to create something totally new. The difference this time was that we had everything under control from the very first chord or vocal phrase till the final mix at Kais booth. No compromises -only pure stubbornness!

10. Did you feel any pressure to follow it up?

Nemesis: We make the pressure that it needs to be creative, but sometimes time is running against us, but that pushes us to a higher output!

11. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

Nemesis: People often hide their emotion or their true opinion about things in life. Just to go the easy way. Don't mess up with the establishment, so it won't mess up with you! The Song is about telling all these people to just let it out -pour your guts out! Get the fuck out! And that Song is called RAUS! -get the fuck out! Don't hide your emotion, your inner feelings, your true opinion from the bottom of your heart, instead stand for what you think, feel and act. Because sometimes all these hidden things will create little monsters in your brain that will become stronger and stronger -and by the day you can count from ten to zero -and you have to promise you should not stand in the way of these monsters if they will break out from your inner!

And yes -the sound of the song is heavy, rough, grounded, brutal and right like a fist in your face to assure that you will know what we are talking about. We heavily show that all in the great video to RAUS, which was recorded and produced by Ivan Maras who is a real master in his profession. The Video is available on YouTube and on our EP POSTMORTEM as well, and made it to over 10.000 views just last month! So proud and thankful! So stop by and give it a view -you will like this piece!

12. How do you think the vibe in the studio had went?

Nemesis: It is as always if you put 4 creative heads into a little tiny room: four people will enter -one will get out alive! No, to be honest -we always try to make a convenient vibe in the studio because this is not heavy duty work, this is passion, romance and a little bit of serious schizophrenic art of acting!

13. When can we expect the new album to be released?

Nemesis: It is going to be released via our label echozone on July the 10th -available at your local weapon trader! And if you can't wait till that day -leave us a message and we will get this thing to you as fast as we can!

14. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Nemesis: We have created a new live set for the upcoming POSTMORTEM shows -which had its highly anticipated premiere lately on the WGT (Wave gothic treffen -one of the biggest festival for alternative and gothic culture in Germany). And the show is still developing -so watch out if you have the chance to see us live -don't miss it! Next possibility will be the Sunstorm Festival in Nordheim on July 10th. And you can buy tickets right from us.

15. Is that your final answer?

Nemesis: 'nuff said! Want to know more? Come and visit us on eigensinn.net or on Facebook, or come and see our show!
