Helestios Says Lots on New Music and More Exciting Stuff to Come!

U.K. metal band HELESTIOS just released their debut album, and are already working on all new music that will become their second album! They are also working on some other exciting stuff like videos and other things you just have to follow them up on. The band says a lot about this and more from the chat below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Well it all begun in around 2019 when I (Henrijs) decided to take further with music and start looking for other band members. With goddess of luck on our side we met up with Stelios and did some jamming and it turned out to be a very good chemistry between us and understanding of where we want to go with music. I've known Agnis for a good ten years and his skills in mastering and mixing came as a great bonus to his bass guitar contributions, although he's an excellent guitarist as well by the way. And it's a similar story with Ian - we've known each other since around 2013.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We are actually creating a story about this - can't tell when exactly it will be ready but it'll be interesting so I hope you don't mind if I ask you to have a little patience :)

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Helestios is Basingstoke, UK based band since half of the band's members are residing there. It's not a big city and there's not much other bands around to our knowledge and now due to lockdowns and covid restrictions it's pretty sure to say there isn't any scene at this point in time... Unfortunately.

4. How would you describe your style?

It's probably best to go through the whole album before making any statements. To me we are in the range of melodic death, thrash, prog metal with a hint of power/heavy at times. It's a great mixture!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released our debut album just recently on 18/12/20. We are independent band and we're creating our own signature so a lot of stuff that big label bands play for you and that gives you that feel of factory made songs - we don't have that here. We like to go a little unorthodox when it comes to structure of songs and try to focus on quality of music instead of trying to fit in some predetermined templates that supposed to be something that everybody likes. So I'd say - expect honest narrative and great, somewhat technical songs filled with melody and power!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

How did you guess? ( laughs) Yes we have started process of making second album, even though it would come out no sooner than end of this year.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Well as soon as you hear of any live show that's not just been announced, but also going to happen before end of this year - let us know! We will be first ones to join!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are in the process of making some exciting stuff in form of videos and other - there will be announcements for everything so best thing to do is to follow us on social media accounts. And like I said before - we're working already on next album and even in such an early stage I can say the quality of music will be proper headbanging level!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We have accounts on all major platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Bandcamp, Spotify, Instagram and  more so best thing to do is look us up and join in following where ever it feels best for you. You can buy our physical CD's here https://helestios.bandcamp.com/releases and trust me we appreciate every purchase as it helps us to move forward and keep creating cool content and believe me more is on it's way! We're waiting on awesome t-shirts to be delivered as well - unfortunately combination of brexit and covid isn't helping and it takes so much more time now to do anything with shipments.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The mood of resistance and encouragement to keep being humans with emotions and healthy intelligence. We're pretty diverse instrumentally as well with awesome guitar solos - Stelios is absolute beast and unlike regular solo guitarists - he plays my riffs with same passion as well, it's amazing!
