Melt Talk of Not Melting But of Music!

Dark rockers MELT have a demo as well as two album's out, with plans to write and record for way more albums, perhaps even five in total in the next couple of years. The band just wants to create and make more music and that takes time. The band talks of music mainly.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We originally started as a duo when Charlotte, singer guitarist, and I met on October 2007. In chaos and crave we've created the first demos of Melt and Charlotte learned how to play them on the guitar. Then we looked for musicians we felt good with, which wasn’t easy at all, but we finally met Roméo our drummer with was desperately looking for a band with the emotional connection he was looking for, and then we had our first gigs. And those first gigs allowed us to meet our bassist, Jux, who came to hear us.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The movie Blade Runner: one night i was thinking of the famous « tears in the rain » scene and it appears to me that the idea of melting into something bigger than you when you die was the essence of what we wanted to do in our music.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Right now we live in the region of Tarn, France, but when the band was playing live before that we were in the city of Toulouse which is a place with a lot of bands, and the scene here is in my opinion very conformist. So i wouldn’t recommend any of them.

4. How would you describe your style?

Hmm… like seeing the end the tunnel, you know? Seeing a light that shows you that yes, you have finally found the exit, it’s close. I don’t know, i have this image. But musically it’s a great mix of rock, metal, pop, atmospheric, kind hard to describe.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released 2 albums and a demo. You can expect to be surprised, or shocked, by our singer, because her sincerity is not from this world. You can expect melancholic, powerful and heavy atmosphere.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Melt discography well, if everything goes well, count 4 or 5 albums. For now we have released two of them, so we still have to record two other albums in the next years, and maybe on a third one.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

No, Melt has become a studio project, we’ve been playing shows for 4 years, that was cool but at the end we felt the need to get away from this. Maybe we will be back on stage one of these days but right now it’s not what is planned.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We have to record and release 2 or 3 more albums. Work on the final form of the songs, which takes time.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I’d say… I honestly don’t know, it’s not up to me to decide, it’s very intimate. But one thing is certain, it’s that we try to instill rock genre a different inspiration so people can feel themselves and their deepest emotions when hearing it, you can remember that.
