brokeNCYDE have been on the a hiatus but are back and stronger than ever! That said, they have been hard at work to get their fourth album off the ground, launching a crowd funding campaign to releasing various singles leading up to the album's release, with plans to tour as a work in progress. One of the two members MIKL discusses the band's progress with the new tunes and their future.

1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band?

Mikl: Brokencyde is a duo whom consists of Seven; who raps/screams along with Mikl-Shea; who sings for the duo, also know as BC13.

2. Why did you want your name to be stylized as "brokeNCYDE" as opposed to regular format like Brokencyde? Does it matter to you how the band's name is formatted?

Mikl: We have it separated that way for those who care about band names, our music originated with dark lyrical content from being at a point of our lives where we were growing up and dealing with life situations & breakups which gave us the lyrical content to create our sound as we were growing & BrokeNCYDE.

3. You guys have been known as a duo act but when first starting out you went from a duo to a foursome then returned as a duo? What caused the formation to bounce back and forth?

Mikl: Brokencyde or BC13 was created by Seven & Mikl-Shea & began to grow with popularity and wanted to be different not only with our sound but live as well. We wanted Brokencyde to be an experience to mesh with the music aspect so we wanted to integrate synth & lighting into this project. Phat J & Antz joined which formed the furious foursome & were very fortunate to tour the world with our best friends/brothers. Now it's back to the original members Seven & Mikl-Shea that have been dropping NEW catchy in your face music every other week to get the sound back out to the world as we miss sharing the stage with them every night!

4. What will the official line-up be for the long haul? Remain a duo or return to a full fledged group? Which way do you prefer?

Mikl: We loved sharing the best memory's of our lives with our brothers but we're going to continue Brokencyde with the original members Seven & Mikl-Shea. We're forever going to be collaborating with the other two members as we're forever Family! Anybody associated from core to fans are just one big family that supports each over.

5. You had launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, seeking out $30,000 to help fund the new record. By the time the funding was over you had only raised $1, 421. What happened, why do you think, you weren't able to meet your goal?

Mikl: To be honest their are shiesty shark like people in the music business that make a good living off using bands & putting them in bad situations. So that's a situation we learned a valuable lesson on & learned to trust our gut as we've done before & do everything independently! It's also hard & a bump in the road, when it's easy to hate Brokencyde just because of the name. People are so narrow minded & people love to follow so it's easy to hate & not give something a chance. We have our core fans and we're building right back up!

6. What have you done otherwise to help get this fourth album up-and-running?

Mikl: Currently were dropping singles along with videos & plan a full length in the near future. We want to give the fans some music to enjoy & get back into the BC13 lifestyle & vibe.

7. Where are you in the process of the new album?

Mikl: We can drop an album anytime but we want to give the core fans some music most importantly and not have them wait any longer!

8. Will you be releasing this album the DIY method or through a label or that's undecided?

Mikl: We plan on doing everything independently. It's harder but worth it in the end.

9. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album?

Mikl: Brokencyde 2.0 is a more mature, fun and full of energy!

10. When can we expect the new album to be released?

Mikl: We'll be releasing news when a full length will be dropped but as of right now, everybody can listen to the new music on our soundcloud or YouTube channel. soundcloud.com/bc13official / YouTube.com/brokencydeTV.

11. What's the story behind your new song and single "Los Locos "?

Mikl: We're Hispanic so we've always had a strong natural draw to our culture and Los locos came to be as we live our lives to be ourselves no matter what people have to say! It's beautiful to be different. GO CRAZY!

12. How about the accompanying video for "Los Locos"?

Mikl: The videos story line was essentially Bree tried to confine us and keep us locked away but we went crazy and had to take back control of the crazy Brokencyde lifestyle!

13. Why go and release a series of singles over the course of the next couple of weeks/month? What's the approach in doing such a thing?

Mikl: To give our fans what they deserve, music. Why hide it and make them wait & wait. We live to create our art so once it's done we'd rather have people enjoy it.

14. What are your current show/tour plans, if any?

Mikl: No current tours planned as of yet but are looking to start setting some up.

15. What does the next year hold for you and your band?

Mikl: The continuation of Brokencyde, dropping hot fresh music and videos along with getting back on the road.

Crunkcore duo, brokeNCYDE are back in action with a new music video for their stand-alone single, "Los Locos". After taking a short hiatus in earlier this year, the group is back to their original line up and are preparing to release a variety of singles in the coming weeks.

“‘Los Locos’ is a song about being free and doing whatever the hell you want to do,” the band offer. “GO CRAZY, be yourself!"

Check it out HERE.

Brokencyde have been hard at work writing and recording for yet to be released untitled new album due out soon. In anticipation the now two-man project has released a new song and video for "I Hate Your" with the following message below;

“Many of you may have noticed we disappeared for a while,” Mikl says. “Reason being that we’ve separated from our previous record label and needed to get a fresh start. It is now Se7en and myself, like it was in the beginning. We brought back our old style, so those fans that have been with us since the MySpace days will definitely dig this song. For those that don’t, just wait until you hear what we’ve been working on over the past two years. Brokencyde will never die!”

Check out the song and video HERE.

Crunkcore act Brokencyde are currently in the studio hard at work on their upcoming album. Clean vocalist Michael Shea or "Mikl" took the time to discuss how the album is coming along and when it will be released.

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Brokencyde.

Mikl: My name is Mikl-Shea and I sing in our group BC13.

2. So this time around you decided to a take a "fresh" approach by keeping the B13 style with an added dance floor twist, can you tell me more about this musical approach?

Mikl: We wanted to bring back what people liked with our music but wanted to add a bit of dance to it so it gets you moving, which music should do.

3. What's the story behind "Geronimo"? Why did you want this song to be the new and first single off your upcoming album?

Mikl: Geronimo is a song about just having fun which we are all about and its just one of those times that you must shout out with pure excitement.

4. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?

Mikl: We have all of the material that we need for a killer album and are currently recording.

5. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?

Mikl: We are going to produce this album ourselves like we used to and bring back some of the natural magic that made BC13 what it is.

6. Where are you recording the album and which studios did you plan to choose and why?

Mikl: We are recording in our home studio, like when we first started. its easier and you have more control of your music when you have a handle on it and we know what we want exactly.

7. How is the vibe in the studio?

Mikl: The vibe in the studio with the BC boys is usually full of laughs, smoke in the air and pizza usually on a table somewhere. almost like a ninja turtle party.

8. What label will be releasing the album?

Mikl: We will be releasing all of our future projects independently.

9. What album title did you decide? Is it a concept album?

Mikl: We haven't decided yet on album title. We have a few in mind.

10. How would you say the new album compares to your previous records?

Mikl: This new album is almost like starting over. We have grown to realize the sound our fans like and we will be giving it to them along with us trying a few new things.

11. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Mikl: Our main goal anytime we record a song is to think of our fans and think if they'd enjoy it, especially live.

12. What's the writing and recording process for you?

Mikl: Beat, lyrics, booth!

13. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album?

Mikl: New age BC13.

14. When did you start writing for this album?

Mikl: Its been over 6 months that we've had material but there's always obstacles that you must overcome. the time is right and we are excited to drop all of this new music.

15. Are there any surprises or any collaborations on the album?

Mikl: People will have to wait to see!

16. Guilty Pleasure was a sizable critical success. Did you feel any pressure to follow it up?

Mikl: There is always that pressure to live up to or surpass what you've previously done but we realized that we need not worry about that but the music and our fans.

17. When can we expect the new album to be released?

Mikl: The new album will be released later this year.

18. Any final words of wisdom?

Mikl: Never give up and don't be afraid to be who you really are!

Crunkcore haven't heard of it? Well now you have somewhat it's where crunk hip hop is combined with screaming vocals hence the combo "crunkcore" and no one does it better than Albuquerque, New Mexico act Brokencyde. Michael Shea one of the two vocalists decided to speak to me while they were on tour.

1. Can you tell me how the current tour went for everybody who's a part of it?

Michael: We just ended the tour with The Bunny The Bear & Nathan Ryan and it's been a ton of fun to share the stage with them as well as see our amazing fans!

2. What is your favorite song to play live (from any album)?

Michael: I personally love to perform Freaxxx, which is an oldie but goodie! The crowd's reaction to it whether it's 50 people or 500 is always a fun experience full of energy!!!!

 3. When it comes to a tour what part of the tour do you think your body is already tired and worn out?

Michael: Personally, the first day I am worn out. We leave every ounce of energy we have that day on stage!

4. What has been the most complicated venue you have performed at?

Michael: We are super fortunate to play every venue we have. They have all treated us very well.

 5. Is there any song that when you play it live on stage makes your adrenaline levels kick in and make you want to go hyper?

Michael: Skitzo usually seems to have this WILD energy that is different from any of our other songs. It zaps you full of adrenaline!

6. When it comes to performing each and every night does the time stand still or does it fly by when performing?

Michael: It's true when they say time flies by when you're having fun & that's exactly what our shows are.

7. Do you guys have any new music in the works?

Michael: We are half way done with our next full length album & are going to finish it up when we get back home. No details yet but I can safely say people will be VERY happy with it!

8. I want to know who was the one who sent me that personalized message of "Fuck You Love Brokencyde" was it the band?

Michael: It was "BREE" our mascot. He tends to party a little too hard & send intoxicated messages.

9. Tell me in a brief summary how the band came to be?

Michael: In 05 Mikl & Seven started to hang out & decided to try a song out & BC went from there.

10. Who was the one to come up with the band's name? You guys are called Brokencyde but where does B13 come from?

Michael: BC-Brokencyde 13- represents family to us = BC13.

11. Can you describe what "crunkcore" is? Why did you want to pick that genre as your musical choice?

Michael: We wanted to create something new & not follow a trend. We are proud to be different & wanted that in our music as well. CrunkCore is Crunk with a taste of screaming for that extra rush in a song.

12. This set also includes a DVD that contains 11 music videos is that your whole catalog of videos?

Michael: All of our music videos that we've done will come along with the "best of" CD. It has the infamous Freaxxx video all the way down to our collaboration video with Deuce for Never Back Down.

13. What are plans for the rest of this year?

Michael: We have a lot in the works. Brokencyde has been in the shadows for a bit but we are coming back extra hard with a new album, touring & many more surprises.

14. Anything else you want to add for your fans?

Michael: We want to thank our fans as they are the best fans any band/group could ask for. They are our fuel that keeps us going. Don't be afraid to be yourself & believe in yourself, you can make any dream come true! CxF

brokeNCYDE's "Best Of" collection takes 17 of their classic tunes and tosses them altogether with a bonus addition of a DVD that features 11 music videos. brokeNCYDE combines rap with hardcore blending a sound so unique it's hard not to want to crank up the tunes.

With this release you get a set of songs that the band has been most known for including a brand new tune that features a guest spot from Deuce called "Never Back Down". Other catchy upbeat tunes includes "Scene Girlz", "Shake!", "Whoa!", and "Freaxxx".  Each song consisting of a generic electronic hip-hop beat that has the vocals take use of auto tune feature making them more robotic than original.

brokeNCYDE's "Best Of" is for the fans who may not be aware of their existence and who may want to get into what they called their genre of as "Crunkcore".
