One Exit Down Says Quite a Bit About Upcoming Shows and a Lot of Music In-Store!

Pop post punk rockers ONE EXIT DOWN has a debut album "Exit 1: Luna", with another track "Don't Stop Me" out as well, as all new works already written. Some shows are coming up soon, with plans of playing more shows, releasing more music until everyone hears what they can do! See what the band had to say about all of this and more below!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

One Exit Down is a project originally conceptualized by Jacob Assell (me) in 2019. During the COVID-19 shut down I began working on songs for the record we have out titled “Exit 1: Luna”.  In 2021 and 2022 I was cycling through temporary band members while trying to find permanent ones. In May of 2022 Richie Chunko and Kevin Teller approached me at a show we did at the Pike Room in Pontiac, MI, and they both later came aboard in December the same year. Now were the 3-piece powerhouse you see today!

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

While I was going to college I worked at a hotel in Ann Arbor, MI. Sometimes I would miss my expressway exit, and to remind myself that it was never the exit I thought it was and that it was one exit down. Thus, the name was born!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Metro Detroit area. The scene there has lots of indie, metal, and pop punk bands. Some of our favorites from our scene are Death Dance, The Dartmoors, and Lake Mosaic!

4. How would you describe your style?

We would describe our new and refreshed style as a blend of garage rock, post punk, shoegaze, with a touch of pop.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our first release “Exit 1: Luna” is a 14 track album features lots of catchy vocal melodies over sugary guitars and kind of sound the way that blue and purple rock candy taste if you have both at the same time. Our most recent release is a collaboration track titled “Don’t Stop Me” that we did with Lake Mosaic, and that song is an absolute pop punk banger meant to motivate the listener through their day!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We’ve actually written several songs since the beginning of the year, and we have about 12 that we are actively recording and engineering on! Our next release, “DRUGS (The Honey Mixes)” comes out on 03/15/2024 and will be a special surprise for our fans. After that we have several releases planned for the rest of the year featuring new songs in our refreshed style.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Upcoming we have shows on 03/28 in Ann Arbor, MI, and on 04/13 in Bowling Green, OH. We are working on spreading our wings across the entirety of the Great Lakes States.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We’re sticking to a tight schedule of a release every 6 weeks, and 2 shows minimum a month. We’re working on building ourselves up for when we release our second record.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We’ve got merch and music here: https://oneexitdown.com/.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We’d like for a first time listener to remember us as a fun and catchy band they can ease away their troubles too!
