XIII Doors Talks of Singles, Album, Plus Much, Much, More!

Hard rockin, heavy metal act XILL DOORS have released two single's with an album underway! The band discusses these details, and furthering plans that are ahead for the next year!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The idea for XIII Doors has been around since about 2015, but due to life getting in the way it kept getting put on the long finger! Sometime around 2020 myself and Ed started compiling demos and ideas properly, and we started tracking in 2021. In terms of who we are, I (DJ) have been interested in music since I was a kid. My parents were quite musical and I got my first guitar when I was 4 years old. When I was about 17/18 I started playing professionally and haven’t regretted a moment since! Ed joins me on guitar and vocal duties…We’ve been playing music together for years. Ed is a London native who started his musical journey as an audio engineer at the esteemed Red Bus Studios in London's West End and produces and mixes our music. On bass guitar we have Pat Byrne and on Drums Alex Sanchez de Orduna.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Somebody else asked me this recently and I wish I had a cool answer! A fan asked if it had anything to do with the Doors album 13…Consciously, it doesn’t, but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t some sort of subconscious influence. In reality, I grew up in number 13 on the street, and my parents got married on Friday the 13th so I’ve never really found the number to be bad luck. The name has been around for that long that I forget where the “Doors” part of it came from.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re based in the West of Ireland and for a small country, there really is a great music scene for everyone. West of where I’m living has a huge traditional music scene, then if you go into Limerick you’ve got a fantastic metal scene and everything else in between. I think Ireland has a particular affinity for music and every genre is welcome here (although you’re much more likely to find a trad or country band playing than a hard rock/metal band)!

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is definitely in the hard rock/metal genre…Heavily influenced by bands like Alter Bridge, Alice In Chains, Daughtry, Tremonti etc…We add some other elements to the sound, like big 80s vocals and traditional instruments from around the world but we’re primarily a hard rock style band!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

To date, we have only released our debut single “Lead The Way”. Our 2nd single “Unleash The Beast” is follows a similar style and theme to Lead The Way. A hard hitting song with a singable chorus!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have a full album of material recorded, we’re hoping to have this released in the new year sometime in March/April or thereabouts.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have some plans in the works but I can’t say anything about it just yet.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Really, we just want to have fun, make great music and memories and hopefully make people happy by listening to our music.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to us on all major platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube etc.) and you can buy our stuff here: https://www.xiiidoors.com/.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Interesting question…To be honest, as long as the listener enjoys listening to our music I think we’ve done our job. We just want to make music that makes people’s days that little bit better!
