Alternative metal group EXILIA have had several single's as well as album's released so far into their career. And they all new music in the process too, along with touring of course. The band discusses this below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for affording us the opportunity to delve into the essence of our music and message. EXILIA's dynamic history takes us back to the year 2000, a pivotal moment that set the stage for our journey.
At the very core of our inception stands the remarkable figure of Masha Mysmane, the powerhouse lead vocalist and founder. With an audacious vision, she breathed life into EXILIA, amalgamating the realms of metal, punk, and pop into a singular sonic tapestry. Her resolute belief in the harmonious convergence of these genres birthed the band's distinctive identity. The full ensemble took shape when drummer Mark Campailla, guitarist Wolve, and bassist Tambu joined, adding their individual talents to enrich the band's sonic narrative.
Our collective passion resonates with the pulse of alternative metal, characterized by crossover elements. Each member contributes a unique facet to our sound, resulting in a dynamic and captivating musical experience.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
The name "EXILIA" serendipitously emerged from a box in Masha's room, captivating us with its intriguing sound. Beyond its auditory allure, "EXILIA" encapsulates for us feminine attributes such as sensuality, elegance, and potent energy. The name also resonates with the notion of liberating ourselves from conventional norms, creating pathways to traverse diverse musical landscapes.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based in Italy, where the music scene is vibrant and diverse. While it has a strong foundation in traditional genres, the alternative and metal scene is also thriving. Some local bands we recommend checking out include – Extrema and Planethard.
4. How would you describe your style?
Our style can be described as alternative metal with a unique blend of influences from punk, pop, and classical music. We focus on creating powerful and meaningful music with catchy melodies and emotive lyrics.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have released seven albums and many singles throughout our journey, including our latest record "Heroes and Dust." We place significant emphasis on songwriting, as it holds paramount importance for us. Our listeners can anticipate captivating melodies infused with abundant energy. We steadfastly uphold the belief in genuine music that carries a meaningful message or serves a purpose.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Absolutely, our creative journey never stops. We're gearing up for an exciting celebration in May 2024, marking 20 incredible years since our "Unleashed" masterpiece. And guess what? We're dropping a powerful new track in 2024 to make the celebration even more electrifying for our listeners. Stay tuned!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Playing shows and touring are integral to our identity. We will be touring Germany in September2023 and we are so happy to get back to a country that gave us so much success. 8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
