Hard rock band HOLDING POISON have a couple of single's and a debut EP out now! With the EP out already, the band is constantly writing but for now the EP is the main focus. That is what the band goes and chats about with us below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
Although we've known each other for years, Lockdown 2020 was the kickstart the project needed and the opportunity to finally work on a music project together. Matt found himself thinking of the most productive way to utilize the downtime and decided to bring some of the demos he'd been working on to life. With Jack's help, this became a reality pretty quickly with the EP taking shape within a matter of a few months.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
We went through so many different band name ideas, I’m not joking in saying it must have been around 60/70 and all had been used by other bands/artists. It was around 1 pm one night Matt saw a listing for Foo Fighters new album and saw Holding Poison and thought it sounded pretty good for a band name. And the rest is history.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based between London and Essex, the music scene currently isn’t a thing (due to covid) however we have some pretty good local acts and always have done really.
4. How would you describe your style?
Hard Rock with a lot of melodies, female harmony and guitar tones for days.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
Our debut single - "Sitting Duck" - is quite an attacking track but has great dynamics throughout. It’s also the opening track for the EP "Losing Grip" is our second single, which is also featured on our debut EP - this song is very melodic, utilizing the female harmony and has some great bass runs in too! Our debut EP will be dropping 24.03.21 (this March) which has 3 unreleased tracks on, it's definitely not one to be missed!
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We are constantly writing, but first and foremost is getting the EP out which features 3 unreleased tracks - By a Thread, Curbside and Tick Tock. All very unique and very different.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We have something in the works in regards to live situations but can’t reveal anything yet. Once gigs start happening again, we will be sure to give these songs a good run out!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
First and foremost, we want to write, record and play the music that we enjoy. This EP is a great starting point so we plan to keep building on from them and will just see where it takes us!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
Great question, I think every individual takes something different from music so really I think if they come back to keep listening that’s the main thing!
