Pop music artist CHRISTOPHER TAYLOR has a decent amount of music out currently, with the artist always writing all new music as well. Up next is likely playing shows with more music to come of course. Find out what else had to be said from the chat below.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members?
Hi there, at the moment I'm recording primarily as a solo artist although when I gig I have a band behind me.
I've been playing for many years. In my 20s I was working as a professional musician. For a number of reasons I then needed to work in the corporate world, and did some ‘proper jobs’ (as some would have you believe) but 10 years ago got the chance to work as a professional musician again (I was made redundant and thought hey lets try and be a full time musician again - I’ve a very supportive partner.
So I've been an event musician and at the same time written and produced my own music since then - lately concentrating more on my own music.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
I go out under my own name - but it’s a good question about when I go out with the band ( I don’t like The Christopher Taylor band, type name , so as we speak we are trying to decide on a name that’s like Christopher Taylor and the ?????? (like Lloyd Cole and the Commotions) maybe your readers could help!
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
I live in North Yorkshire near Harrogate, so am near to Leeds and York. There’s a good scene round here we have some great venues inc. The well known The Blues Bar. As a result there are some great local bands - one of favourites is Dalmas (in fact their drummer has played on some of my recordings).
4. How would you describe your style?
Guessing in essence it’s pop music (maybe adult contemporary pop) but there’s also some jazz and folk influences in there too - I think it can appeal to a wide audience.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
I have a fair list of music on Spotify and the other platforms. My EP Chasing Rainbows won a couple of awards 5 years ago. Recently I’ve been working with the Animal Farm Studio. With them I’ve had some great radio play success with Counting Bluebirds, With you life’s beautiful, 16 Wishes, My Angel, Can’t stop, We are one, and my latest release North Star (out March 2021).
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
North Star out now. I’m always writing and yes hoping to get back in the studio later this year to work again with Animal Farm.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
What a year!! Starting now to get some dates for the summer in the diary and I can’t wait!!!!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Fame ;-). More recording and gigging definitely - I’ve really missed playing live gigs this year and when performing is in your DNA you can imagine how frustrating that can be.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
I hope they would remember Christopher Taylor is a songwriter who writes lyrical, catchy tunes with infectious melodies, and come back for more!
