Karly Jewell Talks About Forming, Playing and Music!

Rock band KARLY JEWELL have their debut album out and about, with their works being featured here and there as well. The band goes into talks about their formation, wanting to travel and just play again.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band and I first kicked off with Mars and I many years ago. Our solid 4 piece is now complete with Marino Marcos – Drums David Beaton – Bass and the amazing Adrian Kluke on Guitar. Dave joined years ago and he ask what was next after joining and we told him we are heading to the states and so off went for an incredible adventure. We have played the local scene in our home town of Melbourne , across the country and internationally creating our own Rock & Roll history.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I started out on my own doing acoustic shows and song writing so when we all formed, we kept it as my name but with the official band being made of the same members.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band and I are based in Melbourne Australia it’s a great scene a welcoming rock community and so many good bands. There is really everything to offer music lovers in Melbourne. It had a strong scene before Covid shut us down. I’m just about to do a show with Eat The Damn Orange and Riff Raiders both female fronted rock bands that I just honestly admire for their passion and delivery of music. There’s a huge list Cirrus Crown and Fight The Sun are two bands that are also my top two favorite bands to watch.

4. How would you describe your style?

It’s mostly described as hard hitting, heavy driven riffs with a hard rock flavour touch of pop sometimes and even sometimes slipping into the dark side of melodic rock. I myself as a song writer have no specific genre I only write with feeling and then we let the sound fall into place. It’s unique I guess and just sounds like something Karly Jewell and her band would make.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

In 2019 we released our Debut Album Phoenix and we were so lucky to have had the opportunity to have it released with Hitman Records, Los Angeles Label thanks to our Manager Mark Dalbeth at Rav Medic. It opened many doors and had a big World-wide push.  The new Single Dancing With The Devil is just one of the many new tracks to come. I have written close to 17 new tracks so we plan on getting them out one after another. End of the year maybe put them on a nice Vinyl Record that would be the plan.

Anything we do is full of hard work and rock and roll so each time we deliver the best we can for each track.

Dancing With The Devil has also been added to Rue Morgue Records for their next Compilation album Murders In The Rue Morgue Vol II set for a worldwide release in April 2021

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, always we are looking at the next song to record. I also have too many songs because I never stop writing.  It also opened many doors writing so many songs. My first real passion was guitar from the age of 3 but when teen years hit me, I really fell in love with writing. Listening to my grandfather craft his art from early ages always inspired me. How he could tell a wonderful story with a beautiful bed of music to hold it from start to finish. My late Grandfather Tony Jewell passed me this gift of music so I will forever be grateful and honored to have learnt from the best.

2020 I was honored to have co-written a track with Italian Artist Giacomo Salzani known as Bow’N’Arrow we wrote a song together called Sawdust that was also released 10th August beautiful song and very honored to collaborate with him.

2021 More collaborations coming to be released soon.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

As soon as we can travel, we will be back on the road or jumping off planes to hit new parts of the planet. We have a run of Melbourne shows coming up over the next three months and will book more as soon as we can. Venues here have only just started to all open back up and book It’s been a long wait but we never stopped creating music. We do plan on going back to Los Angeles as soon as we can.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

More Rock and Roll, more tracks and making our own history.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

All digital stores, Bandcamp, Apple music, Spotify, amazon also album online stores. We have the Band page all the normal social media accounts we share music links on and YouTube for all video content.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

To be able to connect and be lost in music to take them on a journey. I want them to feel the heartbeat of the drums, be caught by the bass rhythm and riffs that move their souls to the core. let go of everything in that moment and just be the music with us for that very moment and to have one hell of a time and remember that.
