Run The Asylum Gives Details on the Music ad Bringing the Heaviness Across the Globe!

Melodic metallers RUN THE ASYLUM have their new album "Sacrifices" out, as well as a previous EP titled "Psychosis". As of now, the band just wants to continue to make more music, play live shows as soon as possible and just do it all over again and again! The band goes on to give more details about themselves.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Run The Asylum out of Dallas has been bringing their heavy music to venues across Texas and Oklahoma, and reaching audiences globally online. Cousins Michael [guitar] and Josh [drums] first started jamming in high school and always wanted to start a metal band. In 2015, Michael and Andrew [guitar] connected in a musicians forum and started writing the foundation for a full album. Their writing similarity made an instant connection and helped develop the complex melodies found in their music. Bryson [bass], previously a member of a professional band, joined in on Bass. After more than a year of testing out different vocalists, Nick completed the group and helped drive the songs into cohesive pieces of art. Run The Asylum currently has three hard-hitting singles out, full of intricate instrumental work and aggressive vocals. Plans to release more music are in place for 2020 and the band is seeking out more performance opportunities around the US.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name was agreed upon late at night at an IHOP in 2017.  It was suggested by a former band member and we found that it is available.  The name is a reference to the mentally strong who are always pushing themselves to be better while dealing with the struggles pulling at them everyday.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Lewisville, TX (Dallas) and our scene is very prolific around the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex.  We are friends with many bands in DFW, but also the Houston and San Antonio areas.  Some amazing local bands we have played with and recommend are: Silvertonguedevil, The Scourge, Desecrated Remains, and Chemicaust.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is fast, melodic music set to ear-ripping vocals.  We are closest to Metalcore, but have elements of thrash metal and other genres throughout our songs. There is very intensive guitar, bass and drum work throughout all of our songs.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We just released our first album called “Sacrifices” on May 29th and it can be found on most major streaming services. We have an official music video for our track Dark Passenger that can be found on our social sites or YouTube.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we are always coming up with new riffs and song ideas and are working to finalize those ideas while we promote the new album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Our shows have been halted due to the Coronavirus situation, but we hope to be playing the DFW area and beyond as soon as possible!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We are working to get our music in front of as many metalheads as possible because we believe in the music. Ours plans are to continue making more music and start playing to larger and larger crowds.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available on most major streaming sites (Spotify, Amazon, Apple, etc).  You can support us directly by purchasing our music at https://runtheasylumofficial.bandcamp.com/.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We put nearly two years into creating this album on our own.  It is a reflection on the music we love individually with our own influence spun in.  We hope the listener remembers the music as we know it will get stuck in their heads!
