Parson City Discloses Matters on Band and It's Music!

Sludgy grungy metal act PARSON CITY began as a side project which would slowly develop into the band it is now. Since forming they have gone on to release a few tracks of content including an EP release with follow-up EP in the making! The band catches up to disclose the matters of themselves and the music they create.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We started out as a little side project between Kyle Roberts and Sam Leek way back in 2013 but never actually managed to get it off the ground. Come 2017 we decided to give it another shot and brought in drummer Anthony Richards. Quickly we all gelled as a band and began to put out song after song, releasing a 2 track demo and a single “Parsons 3:16” shortly after we began playing shows in 2018. Throughout that year we managed to play shows with top acts such as OHHMS, Opium Lord, Boss Keloid & The Hazytones. Releasing our debut EP “The Green One" in November 2018 we started to feel more confident with our music and really began to hone our live show to be more engaging. Now we released the first single “Hypocrite” on the 26th of July off our upcoming EP “The Pink One" which we aim to release late this year.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We tooled around with a few ideas for the name until Sam suggested Parson City. It was an in-joke between friends, simply put we used the word Parson or Parsons to describe something bad or messed up. Then we decided Parson City as somewhere completely messed up as a reflection on our home and for other people to try and associate with. But really it can mean anything to anyone.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are all from Dudley, in the Black Country. The scene here is pretty alive compared to what we've seen elsewhere and theres some absolute killer bands round here like King Corpse, Atarka, Skull Fox & Eyes of the Raven to name a few!

4. How would you describe your style?

Like a really heavy Alice in Chains. Honestly we find it a bit hard to describe, you'd just have to listen for yourself.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released a 2 track demo, 2 separate singles and an EP. You can check them all out at our bandcamp or online streaming services. We are also releasing a follow up EP “The Pink One" later this year.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are always writing new music, we are just finishing the last few tracks for our upcoming EP.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

The odd show for the rest of the year but we are currently booking a number of shows in January/February next year, aiming to do a few weekend tours and such.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Play some riffs and have a blast doing so!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Pretty much any online streaming service and you can download all our music for free at our bandcamp (http://parsoncity.bandcamp.com).

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Try to not take it too seriously, we are holding a mirror up on society as we see it, and we are incredibly sarcastic and pessimistic. You might see something different to what we see. Have fun!
