Los Angele's music scene has yet to displease me. Progressive metal rockers Clandestine is an energetic L.A. act that never seems to quit. Their first full-length debut "The Invalid", and leading single 'Disappear in You", that's been gaining the hits on YouTube has really launched these musicians into rockstar stardom. Frontwomen June Parks (vocals, programming), gave the rundown as to how to balance out everything within their lives at this point and where it will all likely end up.


1. How hard was it to get inked to a deal with Nightmare Records?

June: Nightmare Records contacted us after hearing our song on a progressive metal radio station one day which was a nice surprise.

2. Where did you showcase for Nightmare?

June: We never showcased for Nightmare in person; everything was done online.

3. The band has a new album out called 'The Invalid' what are your thoughts on the album?

June: I think it's an album with a very diverse sound that has the right mixture of heavy and catchy parts – at least that’s what we attempted to do. It is our first full-length album, so there are some things we wish we could have done better but so far the responses have been great, so I try not to criticize it too much. It has been a while since we wrote the material, but we shouldn't forget that The Invalid is still new to many people out there.

4. Can you give me a brief on what this album is all about and what it means to Clandestine?

June: Like I said before, The Invalid is all about balancing out and mixing what we like. We tried to combine different levels of dynamics and energy in to each song. As a result, the songs are quite unlike each other. I think The Invalid was a good first album, and I expect us to progress further from here. Lyrically, The Invalid portrays hidden thoughts and reality beneath our minds without blurring it. It’s a confession to us – accepting our everyday disguise in many levels and different circumstances.

5. Do you have any personal favorites off the album?

June: It would be the song The Invalid; I like how the story and the musical dynamics of the song fit together to create a dramatic atmosphere. The quiet intro with a ticking clock and weakening voice, followed by the dissonant heaviness worked really well to express the madness and hardship for a patient who is going through an incurable disease. It’s also the most musically diverse song to perform for all of us. Many people have mentioned how much they liked the intricate guitar solo in The Invalid as well.

6. How can a fan of the band purchase this album?

June: You can download it from iTunes and Amazon mp3 or get the CD from Amazon or Nightmare Records.

7. In the video for “Disappear In You” you wear a very unique outfit is that a skirt or dress? Where in the world did you find that?

June: It’s called a cage skirt. I find most of my outfits from various online stores and foreign shops.



8. Can you explain as to why your hair is split into the colors blue and purple? Are those your favorite colors?

June: Yes they are.

9. When getting interview how do you manage to answer all of the questions ask differently each and every time asked?

June: I just don’t think about what I answered last time so I don’t end up saying exactly the same thing. Instead, I paraphrase or add thoughts I didn’t get to mention before.


10. June, Dan and Mark, you were all enrolled in the Musicians Institute of Hollywood what was it like being in one of the leading music schools available in the Los Angeles area?

June: It was definitely the most fun school I’ve ever attended! I met so many great people there including the faculty and students.

June: People tend to speak negatively of things they don’t know the most.

"Drop The Match", the new Shan Dan-directed video from Los Angeles metallers WINDS OF PLAGUE, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's third full-length album, "Against The World", which sold 8,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 60 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on April 19 via Century Media Records, the CD features guest appearances from members of HATEBREED, TERROR, FOR TODAY, STRAY FROM THE PATH and former world heavyweight wrestling champion and sports entertainment legend Ultimate Warrior (who performs an epic spoken-word track entitled "The Warrior Code"). It is described in a press release as "the heaviest-hitting record of the band's already heralded career."

WINDS OF PLAGUE created exclusive editions of "Against The World" for both Hot Topic and FYE, each with its own artwork. Fans who purchased from FYE received a free bonus live CD, recorded at the Glass House in Pomona, California by John Montes at Small City Studios. The Hot Topic special edition features a DVD full of more than an hour of content including a live performance from the Glass House, tour footage from around the world, the making-of footage from the "Against The World" sessions and more produced by Jeremy Schott for MentalSuplex Productions.

They’ll join The Allstars Tour, featuring Emmure, For Today, Born Of Osiris, After The Burial, Chelsea Grin, Attila, Alesana, Bless The Fall, In This Moment, The Ghost Inside, Motionless In White, Sleeping With Sirens and For All Those Sleeping. Californian rockers BUCKCHERRY completed their run on the Jägermeister Music Tour earlier this spring, coinciding with the release of their latest single, "It's A Party". The band partnered with Jägermeister to compile iconic live footage from the tour into an exclusive live video showcasing the band's electric energy behind "It's A Party". Check out the clip beow.

"The video is a compilation of a few different performances on our last tour," says BUCKCHERRY guitarist Keith Nelson. Vocalist Josh Todd adds, "It is the true essence of what we are about and when BUCKCHERRY hits the stage, we get the party started."

BUCKCHERRY premiered the "It's A Party" live video on Twitter, instructing fans to tweet a special message to unlock and view the video.

"It's A Party" appears on BUCKCHERRY's fifth studio album, "All Night Long", which sold around 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart.

BUCKCHERRY's fourth studio CD, titled "Black Butterfly", opened with around 47,000 units back in September 2008 to land at No. 8.

Following up a hugely successful U.S. headlining tour that found the band touring without support and instead performing two separate sets each night, melodic death metal legends AMON AMARTH will return to North America for the second leg of the “An Evening With AMON AMARTH” tour.

Scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on August 4, the trek will ravage its way through 22 cities, including several Canadian venues, and come to a close in Boise on September 3. The first set will again feature the band performing the recently-released, critically-acclaimed Surtur Rising album in its entirety while the second will offer up mixed bag of tunes from their extensive catalog of Norse-inspired awesomeness.

Commented the band in a collective statement: “Yes, it is true! We are coming back to tour North America. The Spring tour turned out to be so successful, and we had such a great time playing the double sets each night, that we decided to bring ‘An evening With AMON AMARTH' to the rest of the continent, including Canada! We will perform the new album in its entirety, and after that we're doing a revised second set with all the classics as well as some ‘wild-cards.’”

The eighth studio offering from one of Sweden’s finest death metal exports, Surtur Rising was released in North America on March 29, 2011 via Metal Blade Records and continues to reap praise from fans and critics alike.
