The Pussybat's Sid Talks of the Band and How They Rock!

Alternative glam rock n' rollers The Pussybats take their love for music to the max! They have released some tunes on and off with new music always in the works with shows and touring on top of it all! Frontman vocalist Sid discusses his band, their music, and why they totally rock!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Sid: The core of the band – Marple, myself and our former guitar player Roy – met while working on a common project, a horror movie called “One by One”, in 2005. When it comes to music for the film, we three did some tracks and thought, well, that sounds quite nice. So we decided to form a band, looked for a drum and gladly found Mike. And then, well – we started doing what you do as a rock’n’roll band: Rock, Rock, Rock.

2. Why did you pick the name that you did for your band?

Sid: A Pussycat is a cute cat. We are night folk, so we are bats. But we still are cute, aren't we?

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Sid: Of course there are. There’s just two band we CAN’T recommend at all: “Eigensinn” (the second band of our new guitar player Ho2ly) and “Kellerkind”, the solo project of … well. me ;) – don’t listen to this crap in any case. It’s dangerous!

4. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

Sid: Oh, of course we do completely our own thing and are not influenced by anybody… but just by chance there are some similarities in our sound and some Scandinavian classics like him and the 69 eyes. perhaps with a little more dirt in it.

5. What can people expect from this new album you're working on, why should they be interested and check it out when it becomes available?

Sid: Because it… rocks! Well, we definitely made some kind of evolution from the first one (famous last songs) to our current one (pussypussybangbang), and we will take another step on that one - last but not least because Ho2ly really kicks our asses once in a while with his playing style, his engagement and his perfectionism in musical things – in that aspect, he’s somewhat of a good counterpart for me. Furthermore, we decided to produce and record this album completely on our own, so I think it will be the most “band-record” so far. at least, if we don’t kill ourselves within the production process.

6. Do you play live as well? What do you have planned in terms of shows and touring, if any?

Sid: Of course we do. Most of us would die if they can’t do live shows! We try to play as much, as hard and as ass-kicking as possible. There are some shows fixed for this year, one special thing will be a show in a prison in southern Germany (so you know what to do if you want free entrance…). But there are other things comin’ up as well - just check our Facebook for updates!

7. What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?

Sid: Why are you interested in us? ;)

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Sid: Getting paid better. Gettin laid more and apart from that: do more music, write more songs, rock more shows and inspire more people.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Sid: You can come to a show. There you get the full package! Or you can check out our website:, search on YouTube, search on Facebook or search on Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, well - you name it. just type in “the pussybats” somewhere in your fucking internet device and you won’t miss us!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Sid: The feeling of a kiss goodbye and a kick in the ass. at the same time!
