Modern day crossed old school is how 22 22 describes themselves and their music. The next step is to make 22 22 bigger and better than the day before, releasing even more music and much else to follow. A lot more is said about this particular act of music and creativeness.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

22 22 is an electronic project led by an independent French producer based in Paris. I have about 20 years’ experience in the music circus: from my beginnings as a hip-hop singer to the pop-electro music producer I am today. Since 2000, I produced beats for many hip-hop artists and crew. In parallel, I tried to develop my style through sound design and jingles creation for radio stations such as the On Air TV-Radio. I have also worked with different groups and labels based in Paris, Stockholm, Atlanta and New York.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

22 22 is known as the angel number meaning peace and harmony supporting humanity when the universe is testing our ability to respond to challenges be they climate change, racism, women harassments. 22 22 believes in the Forces of the Universe sending us signs to accomplish something bigger than us: « We’re making funk-pop, engaged music » 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

22 22 is based in Paris (France). 

Urban style (Trap, Afro Pop) is the most important music style there.

4. How would you describe your style?

I believe in the mix of many styles and in music as a meeting place. I grew up with all funky styles from Motown to creative producers like Prince, but my generation was hypnotized by the revolution of electronic music. So, my style is like a tennis match between Old Vintage Funk & recent EDM.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

My productions were mainly collaborations and contributions as a Hip Hop composer, arranger and mixing engineer for other artists’ records. (See below links)

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Of course, I have got an album of 12 tracks named “The Angel Number” ready for the mixing step.

Very difficult at this time … But I’m thinking to realize a nice show with singers, dancers, DJ, Musicians around the theme of 22 22 mystery. 

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Douglas bishop: "The story of "Fire, Said The Albatross" starts before it's actual conception. Our previous guitarist Devon and I had played in our first band together. We were young and were just writing whatever we thought was cool and heavy. After some time, our band fell through and we then played in separate bands for a while. I was playing in a Grand Rapids band for about a year, but that was falling apart too. It was around this time that Devon and I started hanging out again, and I wanted to ask him about starting up a new project, but he had prior obligations to the band that he had been playing in. I hit up a vocalist that he and I had met a couple years earlier in our first band and I asked him if he had any musical groups that were in need of a drummer. He told me that him, his brother, and one of their friends was trying to start up a new band. I ended up driving out to his place, and the three of us drove out his brother's place in Nunica. 

This was where I met James. He wanted to jam some riffs with me to see how I played. I guess you could say that it was "love at first breakdown".... or something like that, because we've been writing songs ever since. Him and I quickly started to have this vision of what we would want the band to be. Something new. Experimental. Familiar enough that it's approachable, but different enough to feel unique. We had this old joke between us that we wanted to be like the "hardcore Pink Floyd, or the emo Tool", if that's any indication of the type of sound we wanted early on. We ended up just continuing to write music without his brother or their friend. After about six months or so of coming up with ideas, we thought it was time to find some members. Our first real line-up was the two of us, plus a bassist and a singer. We had played gigs as a four-piece for a while before we picked up a second guitarist. Which was Devon. For a long time after this, we had a lot of member instability. For years, it was pretty much James, Devon, and I as the core members. 

Musicians would leave, some would come back. They would leave and others would try out. Friends would try out. We'd have previous members come back, for them to leave again. It wasn't until  after Lucas joined about a year ago that our line-up has felt well grounded to me. Caleb had joined the summer of 2017. He was a fan of the band before joining, and we had met him because he had done a vocal cover of one of our songs. Still the only person to do that! Him and I had become buddies and we'd have him come up on stage to perform with us from time to time. The two front-person setup in a band has always been intriguing to me. However as a band, we weren't sold on the idea. That was until the summer of 2017. That following summer, I had come across Jonah online and emailed him to ask if he'd be interested in trying out for bass in the band. I sent him some tracks and asked him if he needed any help with working out the time signatures or the keys of any parts. He responded saying "no", and four days later he posted a video of himself playing through a song of our's in it's entirety. We asked him if he'd wanna come out and track bass for a new song we were working on, and he's been with us ever since. Shortly after this point, Caleb was our only frontman, as our other had to leave the band. We had been on the heavy search  for a vocalist. Had some people try out. 

We talked about how maybe Devon should stop playing guitar and just sing, that maybe we should just find a new guitarist. None of that was working out for us as a band, so we just kept writing ideas for over a year as the five of us. It was a year ago, almost to the day, that we had met Lucas. I remember sitting on my bed thinking, "there has got to be some place I can just find singers or something". Coincidentally, I just searched on Facebook, "Grand Rapids Vocalists", and a group came up. Called exactly that. I was scrolling through it where I saw Lucas covering Joji and Anthony Green. I could tell that he had something special. 

So I sent him a friend request and messaged him. We video chatted later that day about music and the band. The next night, he came out and started recording vocals for us. I told him that the spot was his if he wanted it. Now, after almost a year of this line-up, Devon had decided to leave the band. We held tryouts and a few people were interested in the spot. Which ended up going to David. Lucas would bring him to hangout with us from time to time, so we knew him, but I didn't really know he played guitar the way that he does until he came out to audition. His background with music and guitar playing adds a very interesting twist to the music we are writing. So I voiced my opinion of him joining up and the rest of the band agreed."

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Douglas Bishop: "The band's name initially came somewhat randomly. I don't even remember where I had first heard of an albatross. I just remember it sounding like a really cool word. I felt that it was important to have a band name that was unique and easily findable. So I started with wanted to name the band, "An Albatross". However that name is already taken (Awesome band. Super weird). I ended up coming across some folklore behind albatrosses. A poem titled, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It essentially tells the story of a ship that is being followed by an albatross, which was thought of as being a good omen. 

However, one of the ship's crew shot it down, thus cursing the ship. I took it as something like, "what appears as one thing, ends up being another". Similarly to how some things in life may generally be considered a "good" or "bad" thing, but for you, or me, or anybody else they really wouldn't be. So the "Albatross" represents the uncertainty of outcomes in life, and the things it "Fires" at you through it. The band name still does represent that for me, but it does have deeper meaning now. As when the band was first started, we weren't a concept band. That was an idea that James and I came up with to do way later on in our musical endeavors. If the day were to come where we knew the band was coming to an end, we wanted to finish it all with this grandiose conceptual album. I also don't really remember how it changed from that, to "we should just be a concept band"."

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of West Michigan, The music scene here is a little quiet right now due to the shutdowns, but before that it was awesome! Tons of new music, shows, and lots of friends blowing up around here such as Timeless, Elan Vital, Hollowfront and Sleep Waker.

4. How would you describe your style?

Progressive Post-Hardcore. We have also been called Mathcore due to our use of odd time signatures. Fire, Said The Albatross has also gotten lots of comparisons to Dance Gavin Dance and Hail The Sun.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released three singles and a Deluxe EP. You can expect from us unexpected collaborations, fantasy story elements relating to the songs, and songs for any vibe.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently working on another single, a new ep, and then we will be finally putting together a full length album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We have some live stream shows lined up, but as soon as the world fully opens back up we hope to be back out jamming with everyone

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We hope to keep bringing fun creative new tracks to the public and we have some plans to create some fun new fantasy inspired projects for all the D&D fantasy nerds like us.

Pop, rock, industrialist band DEAD DEFINED have a handful of single's out, along with some music videos, and new music is in the works as well. 1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Dead Defined was formed in 2018 and is a Pop/Rock/Industrial project. It’s instrumentally written and sang by myself, Craig Ewan. It is produced and engineered by Mike Dmitrovic of Voodoo Records Canada. It’s more or less an amalgamation of all my favorite styles of music focused into one place.  

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The band name actually comes from a dark place but the music is actually quite positive ha. The origin of it stems from questioning one’s own mortality. I’d been watching too many documentaries at the time about assisted suicide in the critically ill and elderly and the question I always asked myself was how does one define death? It’s a bit morbid I know, but Dead Defined had a better ring to it than any other descriptive pairing of words.  

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The band is based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada as the recording studio and my band players live all over the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) Being a solo act it’s easier for me to just coordinate a meetup/rehearsal spot when needed in the Toronto area that everyone has access to easily. 

The Rock’n Roll music scene has taken quite a hit since Covid has just about shutdown every live venue in Southern Ontario. A lot of bigger name venues have had to close their doors permanently because of the pandemic which is very disheartening. 

4. How would you describe your style?

I like to describe my style as Pop/Rock/Industrial. I have way too many influences when it comes to narrowing myself down just one musical style so more or less it’s an amalgamation of many genres and artist influence.

 5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I’ve released 6 previous singles along with coinciding Music Videos prior to my latest single ‘Ignite’. I like to put as much effort into promoting and creating awareness around each release as I can. Being somewhat of an ‘artsy’ person I can get quite anal about the look and style of each release as in single artwork, music video, social media promotion; not just the song itself. Being a solo artist I have to dip my toes in the water when it comes to everything surrounding the song itself.   

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I always have new music in the works. Maybe not fully completed songs yet, but I always have new ideas that come to me out of the blue on the daily. Having a cell phone on me all times really helps to be able to record any new ideas on the fly wherever I am. 

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

As COVID numbers in Canada have just now seemed to stall out there isn’t any set plans for live music in 2021 as of yet. My main focus is to try and write/record/video a new single every 2-3 months to stay consistent and relevant when the time comes to open the venues back up.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I try not to predict the future too much these days to be honest. I like to focus on the now and try to grow the fanbase and quality of my music in hopes to continue an uphill climb. Just trying to be consistent in these times is hard enough.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I’d like for them to be open minded about the music and lyrical content. I try to write from a place that everyone can relate to personally. Whether it be from darkness, happiness, loving, hating… I try to connect with the listener as much as they do with my music.

Stadium indie rockers WOUNDEDSPiRiT have a debut album out, with a follow-up album released not that long ago. Newer music is also in the works and expected this summer time! This band goes into chat about wanting to play live, releasing new content and another album come this next year.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band was formed originally in 1988, during the 90s we received airplay on Radio one and toured Europe but never really going anywhere. In 2000 we called it a day, we were all starting to get settled down and the band was not a priority anymore it had run its course. We reformed again in 2016 for a charity gig and had so much fun we decided to record a single that led to a video then ultimately our debut album FOREVERyoung which was released in 2018 and won album of the year at the Black Country music awards. We wanted to record a 2nd album but only 2 original members wanted to carry on and that was myself Jason Kelly(vocals`) and Elton McTaggart(drums) so we spent the next few years writing the 2nd album and putting together a new band, the 2nd album is out now called U ME AND THE OCEAN and the line up of the band is Jason Kelly- vocals, Elton Mctaggart-drums, Rob Roberts-bass, Steven Scaife-lead guitar, Mark Smith - keys/synth and Darren Thorpe -guitar and vocals

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I got the name from school, reading about the history of the Native American.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend? 

The band is based in the Black Country, West Bromwich is where the band would call home, the local music scene like venues need support over the next 12 months when lockdown restrictions are lifted but local bands to look out for are The Pagans SOH, liberty Lies, Alex Ohm and singer /songwriter BETHANYA.

4. How would you describe your style?

We are influenced by synth guitar music, so The Killers, Simple Minds and Gary Numan. I would describe our sound as STADIUM INDIE-ROCK.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Debut album FOREVRY young 2018 and our latest album was released 2020 called U ME AND THE OCEAN, our debut album was songs we had written 25 years previously and it was a labor of love, stand out tracks are 11Months3Weeks6Days and Fake News our latest album is a musical journey of genres, it's more powerful and dynamic in its production, play from start to finish and then u will understand the different genres and sounds, its a fantastic album that we are very proud of.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are releasing 3 more singles off the album with videos and then later in the year we plan to release a new single which is being recorded in May 2020.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We will be playing our first gig in August2021 at the robin2 in Bilston, we plan to do lots of small sets in 2021, 2022 we already have a headline show booked at the 700 capacity Robin2, so we have plans for the next 18 months on releases and shows.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band? 

This year is about coming together live on stage as a band and recording a couple of new tracks. 2022 we hope to put together a tour and then release our 3rd album late 2022.

Why have I never heard of this before?

SUPERHOOCH have had their up's along with the down's, changing their genre, releasing music, with so much more mixed in. The band talks of these changes and what's next in-store for them.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Superhooch formed in 2014 originally as a 5-piece with Jonny Worsley on lead vocals, Chris Worsley and Johnny Kingham both on guitar, Steve Clarke on bass and Anthony Marshal on drums. Every member providing heavy use of backing vocals with the exception of Steve Clarke. Everyone in the band had played in various groups around Coventry previously and had all collaborated together at various different points. They recorded 2 EP’s with Jonny Worsley and gained a strong following in Coventry and around the Midlands, but due to family commitments and musical differences Jonny left the band in 2017. 

At this point the band had a burning desire to move in different direction, they traded the bluesy classic/prog rock sound for something more contemporary. The band continues as a four piece with Chris Worsley taking the lead vocals as well as playing guitar, the rest of the line up stays the same but Steve Clarke joined in with the others on backing vocals, even providing lead vocals for the song ‘Feeling Sound’.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name Superhooch comes from an apparent moonshine recipe that’s popular in prisons.  

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Superhooch are based in Coventry, the scene is strong in the sense that there are a lot of talented artists here and a lot of people who want to come out and see their shows, sadly we have faced a lot of venue closures over the last years, but the same can be said for most cities in the UK I suppose. Hopefully things will change when venues can re-open, we hear talk of a few new venues being opened for when the world opens again for business this summer, so we shall see what happens! Superhooch have gigged and partied with a lot of the bands in Cov, we would recommend all of them to you but to name a few we’d say Resurrection Men, Charles Dexter Ward And The Imagineers, Luna And The Moonhounds, Futumche, Black Spaghetti and the almighty Octogoth. But this is just nepotism as they are our mates and fellow collaborators,  there’s so many good bands in this city.

4. How would you describe your style?

After the “re-birth” following Jonny Worsley’s departure the band changed direction and opted for a darker yet more playful and natural sound, drawing influences from The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Hawkwind and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster (to name a few) the band started to become very interested in blending psychedelic with hard rock, and punk (a word very much despised by the band but the only one I can use to generalize their chaotic no shits given approach to song writing), focusing on darker lyrical content and hypnotic riffs designed to send you to space.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Since the line-up change the band have released an EP called Look Out! Consisting of 6 songs written in a few months and recorded shortly after. The EP was recorded live in the studio with minimal overdubs. It documents the band finding their feet with their new sound and as a solid unit, its a raw and aggressive attack with elements of beauty and dark humor seeping through.

The band released their first full length album ‘Red Jacket’ in June 2020 via online streaming platforms and plan to release physical CD’s as soon as the printing place re-opens. The band focused on stripping things back even further with ‘Red Jacket’, allowing Worsley’s vocals and lyrics to take the lead. The album follows a constant theme of self destruction and rebirth, “rip it up and start again” is very much the mantra here. Each track is wildly different from the other, blending genres yet retaining the bands own unique sound. The opening track ‘Birthday Suit’ has a mutant funk doom “Talking heads meets Cathedral” vibe, VIDEO is reminiscent of 90’s alt rock bands like Jesus Lizard and Cop Shoot Cop, and the true anthem of the album ‘The Bar’ is a Victorian folk horror story in the style of Tom Waits and Alex Harvey, with a bit of Black Sabbath thrown in.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Due to lock-down the band are focusing on promoting ‘Red Jacket’ and have limited ability to rehearse and write new music, however there have been exchanges of ideas in the form of home recordings. They have some ideas of where to take things next but as the band work very much in an organic style they will be far more productive once they can get back in a rehearsal room.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Touring and gigging is obviously on hold until the world returns to “normality, whatever that may be. When the shackles are off they are going anywhere that will take them.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Keep going, keep writing, keep performing, keeping bettering themselves as musicians, songwriters and human beings. Playing music is what the live for and they wont have it any other way.

They can remember it however they want, just as long as they remember the name Superhooch so they know how to find it again.

Formed in 2014, NEXT DOOR TO HEAVEN has been around for sometime now, releasing two albums and single's as well. An all new EP is out real soon, with the band themselves not going away anytime soon but wanting to remain in the spotlight seeing where it will take them next. 1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Our band was formed in 2014 by Daria Mazunova and Gene Mazunov in St Petersburg, Russia.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Next Door To Heaven is the original name. We tried to change it in the beginning but then got back to basics as we thought Next Door To Heaven sounds better and easier to memorize.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Like anywhere else in the world in general but I guess a little more chauvinistic, unfortunately. Hope it will change once. I'd recommend you to listen to Slaughter to Prevail. It's a great band.

4. How would you describe your style?

Progressive, sometimes alternative metalcore. We love being more melodic. We're an exceptional band because we're not trying to be anyone else. Our motto is "do what you want to and stay yourself".

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

2 albums: "Let's Dream" and "V ways to accept"

Singles: "Exit Station", "Out of the fire", "Light", "Starry sky", "Dance with me".

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We're up to release our EP "Inside" on March,25th. Pre-sale starts on Itunes on March,18. One of the tracks is a collab with Lord Nelson (ex-Stuck Mojo) so you'll also hear some rap there.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Most musicians feel the same for a year already. Everyone's waiting for the world to recover and right after borders reopen again and life gets back to normal we'll start touring again.

We're quite ambitious actually and will fight for our place in the sun. You will surely hear more about us soon. We'll continue to make good music of course.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

It's not easy listening music. You have to dive into this atmosphere then you will be able to feel a special mood. Also tracks on one album/EP can be very different. Choose the ones that satisfy your musical preferences.

Solo artist Jacob has taken his own namesake into account calling this project at hand JACOB AND THE STARRY EYD SHADOWS. 1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Although it sounds like a band’s name, I’m currently just one guy making music on his own. My name’s Jamie and I’ve been a guitarist since I was 10 and a songwriter since my teenage years. I’ve played in many bands in the past, mostly doing covers, going all the way back to my school days in Germany. When I lived there attached to the British Forces. I was always writing and recording my own songs in the background to keep myself out of trouble and to get through the hard times in particular. So that led me here, still trying to get it out there and share it with the world.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

My name’s Jamie, but Jacob is a kind of Hebrew derivative of it, and I just thought it sounded a bit more interesting. I’ve always loved bands with a ‘So and So and the…’ type names. It probably goes back to my mother bringing me up on a lot of soul and Motown music. Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles…you get the idea.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there?

I am based out of Kintyre on the beautiful rugged west coast of Scotland. It’s where I grew up and my family comes from. It’s an area which is certainly not short of inspiration which is useful from a creative point of view. There is a great music scene here actually with a lot of local talent, particularly of the singer-songwriter and traditional styles. And a wee bit of rock as well. We have annual music events with the Mull of Kintyre Music Festival and The Kintyre Songwriters Festival where lots of local talent get an opportunity to play, as well as musicians from further afield. People should come and check it out when things get back to normal. The area is most synonymous with the Wings song ‘Mull of Kintyre’ by Paul McCartney and his wife at the time Linda, who used to live here and spend a lot of time here. He still owns an estate but doesn’t occupy it as much.

4. How would you describe your style?

I’ve always found this a difficult thing to do. It’s probably just pop/rock. It’s a bit singer-songwritery. But I also think it’s got a bit of an indie sound. Sometimes a bit emo in terms of the feel, emotion and subject matter. I love a nice depressing theme to explore. Seems to be where I’m my most creative. But my melodies and choruses are often defiant against the themes to it’s mostly quite joyous music.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

It all starts here in terms of releases. I have some home recorded material on Soundcloud and available to purchase on Bandcamp for any enthusiasts. But the mainstream materials start now so watch this space! In terms of what to expect; emotive lyrics and themes, a nice indie pop-rock sound, with big choruses and sing along hooks.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yeah, there is two singles already scheduled for release this year. My first big releases on all major platforms. I have a song called ‘We Are Everything (and that’s alright)’ coming out on the 2nd of April. It’s a big lamenting indie ballad type track, so if you like that kind of thing, get on it! And then another tune coming out in June. Will be focusing on releasing singles for the time being and working up to getting an EP out at some point. So follow my socials to keep up to speed.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Yeah, intending to get out playing the tunes once things calm down, but nothing scheduled at the time being. Will be nice to get playing live again though. It’s been a while.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Keep making music for as long as I can. Get it out there and try and share it with the world. I love making music for myself, for the benefits the creative process brings. But I love to share it too. To get other people’s takes on it and hopefully they find some comfort or enjoyment in it too.

I wouldn’t want them to remember anything. Music is about moments. Whether that’s creating it or listening to it. Just enjoy it in the moment. Next time it might be different.

Having taken influences from a wide of genres, the band called IN.VISIBLE have had some works released already, with newer works coming up. Another album is expected with more plans of activity in the works as well. The main person behind this band goes into details about how it all came to be.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

In.Visible is Andrea Morsero's solo project (musician - producer - songwriter - DJ based in Milan, Italy). The project has its origin in 2014 with the debut album "Have you ever been?" , followed in 2016 by the single "People are strange", rearrange of the Doors song. This latest release opens the doors to international markets and In.Visible begins to perform beyond the Italian borders.

In 2018 the second album "Exotic white alien" is released, whose single "Sensation" is shot in Berlin. two years of tour lead In.Visible to participate in the prestigious Synthetic snow festival in Moscow, in December 2018. On this occasion, In.Visible comes into contact with the Clan of Xymox, with whom it realizes, in May 2020, the hit of Kylie Minogue "Can't get you out of my head".

In February 2021 "The Subterranea sessions" is released: third studio album produced, mixed and completely mastered by In.Visible. the disc contains several international collaborations and the single "Fingers" is Morsero's debut as director of the video clip.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I wanted to play with the meaning of the words and how to compose and break it down. therefore in the term IN.VISIBLE we can find two distinct concepts: something that remains hidden and that tends to disappear, child of the concept of invisibility and also something that is in the making and in transformation. the point between IN and VISIBLE is the center of his conceptuality and is the connecting point of my contradictions: human and artistic.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I live in Milan and the Italian underground music scene is very active, especially what is related to electronic music. in this sense I feel I can recommend artists such as Bien Noise, Ditonellapiaga and Elenoir.

4. How would you describe your style?

In.Visible is a broad set of musical influences ranging from synth wave, to rock, to minimal electronic music, psychedelia. My first two albums were hybrids between acoustic and electronic music with influences also deriving from Indian raga and Arabic music. my latest record instead veers towards a purely electro setting with some insertions close to the world of sound reinforcement. 

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I like to change. Each of my records has common and connecting elements, but then I like to range and be eclectic. my culture as a DJ helps me a lot in this: being ready to pick up new sounds helps me to be freer in my artistic path.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

For me it is important to always propose new music. Also in "The Subterranea Sessions" which is basically a record of remixes and reworks of already published material, I wanted to insert new things because I like to have, and give, the feeling that there is always something new and unexplored coming up.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Playing live and, in general, all the dynamics related to tours are the vibrations that bind me most and this profession. I have been playing for more than thirty years and I believe that sharing emotions above and below the stage is something extremely precious and can only be explained by living it.

Unfortunately, in this last year, the equilibrium of our society has been strongly questioned and with them also everything related to music. personally I have tried to embrace with enthusiasm what technology makes available to us and I am very interested in the development of opportunities related to music and performances, in this sense. 

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Planning is somewhat difficult at the moment. I am working on the realization of a tv format that will see me protagonist together with other important Italian independent music realities and, together with my collaborators we are already working on the arrangements of the next album of In.Visible.

I like to think that In.Visible is a sort of watershed for a listener: something that starts from the past and projects into the future. I also like to think that it is something extremely honest and that it clearly reflects my human and artistic path.

Mixer-uppers HOUNDS has a style of sound that is a mix bag according to them. Since forming though, they express details about the past, present, and future plans of what they have planned next. 

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We have been around since 2013 although not always know as H.O.U.N.D.S. We are spawned from  our former name Dead Town Nothing.

For three years Dead Town Nothing toured heavily and pushed hard before disaster struck as the result of a sobering personal loss which forced us to hit the brakes, take stock and re-evaluate our position. An inevitable hiatus followed before we went our separate ways in 2016. This year, however, we reformed under the moniker HOUNDS. The reason why we decided to come back was because we all missed playing in a band together and in a way had some unfinished business as a band. We didn’t however feel it was right to come back as Dead Town because too much time had gone by and what was needed was a re invention and a metamorphosis of the past and so H.O.U.N.D.S was born. Not all the original members returned which was understandable and some new faces came on board but that was a good thing because it felt like a new chapter in the story even more.  But all of us members that are current have always known each other or played in bands together at some point , so the feeling and atmosphere is the same as it was when we were DTN. Since coming back things have gone strength to strength in ways we could never of imagined, not only the response from our incredibly amazing and loyal fan base that has also grown from the U.K. to Europe and the USA, but also we signed to Kingside Records in the USA and we are managed by Terror Crew Productions Canada, they have both been amazing and, yea an amazing opportunity for us as a band. 

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

H.O.U.N.D.S originally was going to be a song title back when Dead Town Nothing were causing chaos. When we had discussions about returning our current band name came into discussion when we were hatching the plan of evolving the band. It seemed very fitting to change the name to H.O.U.N.D.S and yea it just stuck. 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Our home town is the Isle of Wight in the U.K. Most of the members our still based there and this is where we practice and create our music. Ash our front man lives in sunny Dorset and comes down to be with us at practices and other band activities! The scene on the Isle of Wight is a small one and with current COVID pandemic is non existent, but there are a few alternative bands around. But we hope when things improve and venues start opening up again this will change. 

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is a mixed bag really. We are predominantly a Hardcore band, however we also mix in a lot of modern metal styles into our music so you have this hybrid of hardcore and metal, and we as individuals all have different influences and like different styles, so we try and encompass that into our music, and strangely it seems to work, and we have always written this way as a band.  

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We so far have released a fair bit despite the current pandemic. When we came back to the scene as H.O.U.N.D.S we decided to re release Death Town Nothings two studio albums on to one release called "The Dead Town Nothing Tapes" the reason this was done was because we wanted to reconnect with our followers and fans, but also we wanted the Dead Town era to be part of the story and history of the H.O.U.N.D.S and we are honoring the past while embracing our future also. 

We then back in November 2020 released our debut single as H.O.U.N.D.S called  "BEAST" this really marked the start of our new journey and the response we had was incredible and went beyond anything we expected. 

Following this in February of this year we then decided to keep our fans and followed on their toes and we surprised them by dropping our second single "SNAKES" without any warning! Again the response has so far been amazing and well we can’t really describe the feeling of the support we have received on both these singles.  When listening to us you can expect an assault to the ears    with venomous blasts of hardcore metal. Amalgamating our  passion for angular metal riffs and aggressive hardcore, and just good old fashion HEAVY! 

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Ahhh you will have to wait and see! But what we can tell you is that "BEAST" is being re released this Friday and remastered on our record label across all streaming and download platforms as well as physical release through our label on CD and Vinyl, they have some cool bundles on offer! we cannot wait!! We wanted to bring "BEAST" home to the label and so we thought a remastered version was the the best way to do it. 

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are currently in the process of trying to book shows and tours as we know things are slowly starting open up and bookings are taking place, but there is still great uncertainty for everyone with how things will pan out and so we are just waiting for that green light! and anyone who would like to book us can contact our manager Eric over and Terror Crew Productions Canada. 

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our plans is simple really, tour ,play shows and have a good time, and anything else that may come along with that, we will be truly grateful for! For us as a band it’s about having a good time and enjoying the experiences we have so far.

Metalcore go getters FORSYTHIA have been active since 2012. Releasing an array of content, ranging from a handful of EP's, singles, with all new content coming up real soon. The band goes into discussion about their works, namesake, and what lays ahead.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The band has been together since 2012, here's our members:

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We had been trying to figure out a name for sometime, and then randomly I was watching the movie Contagion and saw the forthysia bush was the cure for the virus in the movie, and then that same week saw the name Forsythia on a street sign and in that moment I decided it was the band's name. 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We're based out of Boise, Idaho. As far as the music scene is concerned, there's a few great local venues but we especially love to be able to play at The Shredder. We also have some very talented metalcore acts here, it would definitely be worth your time to go check out our friends We Were Giants and Life Upon Liars.

4. How would you describe your style?

Over the years I've gotten a great deal of inspiration from bands like Thrice, Counterparts, Erra, and Northlane. It's hard for me to genre myself because I'm the one writing the instrumental side of things. But I know it's metalcore and I know it's good, that's our sound. 

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released a handful of EP's throughout the years, with our latest release being Love Divinity, which we were lucky enough to get a feature by Robby Baca from The Contortionist, on the track In Transition. I think you'll usually find our sound really upbeat, ambient and milotic. The lyrics are thought provoking and very personal. I think there's something for everyone in our music. 

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We've recently released three *very good* singles that are due to be a part of an upcoming EP that you can expect from us this spring. 

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Unfortunately with the state of everything we have absolutely nothing on the books. 

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

To continue dialing in and perfecting our sound, which we are extremely proud of. We want to continue to make music that we and our fans are passionate about. Our biggest goal at the moment is just to get ourselves out there and heard.
