Century Media Records signed Seattle, WA metal band Into The Flood. The group released a video for the song "The Destroyer" online and the song will be re-recorded with producer Aaron Smith (Jeff Loomis, 7 Horns 7 Eyes) for the band's debut album.

   

Into The Flood, formerly known as VICES, is a positive metal band that believes "YOU are the start of a positive change in the people that surround you." The band released a statement about the signing: "This is absolutely a dream come true to be involved with a label like CM. This is something every musician dreams of and we were blessed enough to have it happen for us."

Solid State Records' The Overseer released a live video for "Absolve" which comes off of the band's latest release, We Search, We Dig. The footage comes from the band's CD release show that happened in July.

Sweden's Miseration formed in 2006 but since then have gathered a fan base like no tomorrow and continue to do what they do best which is making brutalizing music! Guitarist, bassist, and percussionist Jani Stefanovic spoke to me recently discusssing the band's latest release "Tragedy Has Spoken" the band's start and who inspires them.



1. So what type of band are you?

Jani: I think you could calle us a Death metal act with some melodicimprints here and there.

2. Can you tell us the brief history of your band and how you went with calling yourselves Miseration what does it mean?

Jani: Miseration originally launched as a joint partnership between vocalist Christian Älvestam (Solution.45, ex. Scar Symmetry, Incapacity, Unmoored, etc.) and guitarist Jani Stefanovic (Solution .45, The Weakening.), Swedish death metal project Miseration balance brutality with melodic and atmospheric elements. Debut released in 2008, Your Demons -- Their Angels slowly crawled out of the heavy metal underground as critical and consumer acclaim continued to build, culminating in a worldwide issue through Germany's LifeForce label. Quickly after the debut, Miseration were looking more like a proper band, following the addition of guitarist Marcus Bertilsson, bassist Johan Ylenstrand, and drummer Rolf Pilve for touring purposes.

3. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Jani: Everyday life and nothing at all. We just write music out of any emotion or feelings or world situations or then for me it is often that i dont think of anything. I just sit down and write some music, it´s a very spontanious way of doing music and that way it becomes very honest to me as well. Because i don´t want to force anything. Where´s the fun in that?

4. What can you tell me about "Tragedy Has Spoken" release does it have a concept to it and where did the title come from?

Jani: Lyrically the theme of the Album can be described as sum of the major tragedies of mankind’s history. Lyrics have been written by Pär Johansson (Satariel, Torchbearer, The Few Against Many) and Christian Älvestam and addresses the diversity of tragedies. Some of which have taken the guise of accidents or natural disasters, while others were carried out by human hands and intent. Behind all this there is to find an imaginary architect, a fictive entity – something powerful, aware, far above the manmade concepts of good or evil: the nature of tragedy itself.  The title is exactly saying what the whole album is about. Tragedy itself is the one who is behind of all the happenings.

5. What are your songs about and who's the one behind writing them?

Jani: The music is written by Christian, Marcus and I. The lyrics by Pär Johansson and Christian. The themes of the songs explained on previous question.

6. How do you describe your music to people?

Jani: Death metal touching some melodic and black elements here and there.

7. What image do you think your music conveys?

Jani: No idea. Our purpose is not to set a mark of what beliefs or political views we have. NOt nay particular goals to me trend breaking muiscally either. We are a bunch of good friends whos primarly goal is to make some good death metal. Having alot fun. If it´s not fun making this why do it? But i think that people might think of us as an quite technical and aggressive band with the capacity of delivering versatile albums.


8. How's it been to be a part of the Lifeforce Records family? What have they brought to Miseration that has satsified your needs?

Jani: They have been really great supporting us in any ways possible. We´ll see if the journey continues with them or what since our contract ends with this album. But we nothing but good things to say about them.

9. What are your upcoming plans in general for the remainder of 2012?

Jani: We have some tour plans under negotiation. Did our first gig with this fresh line-up a couple of weeks ago in Sweden which was the first time ever on Swedish soil as a support act for Entombed. The new songs worked really well live and looking forward to do this more. So waiting for the tour to be confirmed and then we´ll hit the road.

Atlantic recording group HALESTORM will headline the "Jägermeister Presents Halestorm" tour. The hard rock festival trek gets underway November 8 at Mobile, Alabama's Soul Kitchen and then continues through mid-December.

Tickets for "Jägermeister Presents Halestorm" — which also features special guests IN THIS MOMENT and EVE TO ADAM — will go on sale this Friday, September 7.

Bassist Brent Ashley (pictured below) has left STATIC-X. His final show with the band took place this past Saturday, September 1 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California. He writes on his Facebook page, "[I] wish things would have ended differently, but I'm very excited for what the future will bring."

Original STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos — who is currently on the road with SOULFLY — issued a statement in July indicating that he had "no interest in working with [STATIC-X frontman] Wayne Static, now, or anytime in the foreseeable future."

Guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget of Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE is currently recovering in the hospital after undergoing back surgery. The band states, "He's doing great."

According to BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE guitarist/vocalist Matt Tuck, the recording sessions for Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, GOOD CHARLOTTE) on the group's last LP, 2010's "Fever". "We worked with Don Gilmore again on this new record we just finished, Matt told South Africa's Voice Of Rock Radio. "For me, it's a huge compliment that he really didn't have much input, 'cause on the last record he did, and it kind of opened my eyes to write differently and to think about, not slowing things down, but kind of… there's no restraint on screaming and restraint on a million miles an hour. It's not necessary, really. We've kind of done that [already]. So on this record, [he kind of] sat back and let me do it without having much input, which to me, knowing Don, is a huge compliment, 'cause it means I've kind of done it right by my own. So, yeah, we've definitely fucking nailed it on this record. I know it's a long way before coming out and anyone's gonna hear anything, but I've lived with [it] and I know what it is, and trust me, it's good."

Asked about BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's longevity and musical progression over the years, Tuck said, "I definitely think we've got longevity, 'cause we are longevity. We've been doing this eight years now and we're still at the top of the game of… we're still at the top of our tree of our style of music. I mean, no one's really kind of tried to take us over. So we have kind of taken the foot off the gas already a little bit with 'Fever', and the album we just recorded, we've actually backed off a little bit again — not because we don't think people don't wanna hear heavy music, we've actually made it heavier by slowing down and less is more. Like METALLICA's 'black album,' you wouldn't necessarily call it a heavy album, but the sound of it is fucking heavy and it's big and it sounds timeless because of that. It's not a million miles an hour — it's big and heavy and loud. We're not trying to make a 'black' album, we're just trying to kind of take that theory of slowing down, putting less technical bits in and concentrating on the vocals and the meat and bones of the song."

Michigan-based post-hardcore act I SEE STARS was arrested on August 30 on charges of possession and intent to use hallucinogenic drugs. The bandmembers and their crew were taken into custody by Salina County Police in Salina, Kanasas and were released after posting $1,000 bond each. Vocalist Devin Oliver tweeted about the incident, posting: "Just had the worst 13 hours of my life." He followed that tweet with another message: "First and last time in jail."
