In a career that has spanned in excess of 30 years and during which they have sold more than eight million albums, two-time Grammy-nominated US progressive-metal band, Dream Theater, has never done the predictable. This was evident with the release of their ambitious 2015 concept album The Astonishing and the elaborately-produced tour that followed.

Now Dream Theater is pleased to announce that they have signed with Sony Music worldwide, through Sony's leading progressive music label imprint InsideOutMusic, for the release of the band's forthcoming 14th studio album. They join an impressive roster of bands, many of which wouldn't exist without Dream Theater blazing a trail before them, and inspiring young musicians since the early '90s.

The band comments: We are all really excited about signing a brand-new record deal with InsideOut/Sony! We've known Thomas Waber for a very long time and it's great to finally get a chance to work together. Thomas' enthusiasm, energy, music industry expertise and positive outlook towards the future of DT's recording career has been incredible to witness, and we have no doubt that being part of the InsideOut/Sony family will be an amazing creative and professional experience for all of us!

InsideOutMusic Label Head / A&R Thomas Waber adds: "This is what the term 'coming full circle' was invented for. We've followed the band closely ever since they started touring in Europe in 1993, and there has been a lot of history and friendship between DT and us for close to 25 years. Hasbro Studios, the Los Angeles-based entertainment division of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) and Sony Music/Legacy Recordings will release an expanded version of last year’s popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic holiday album, A Pony Kind of Christmas, on Friday, October 7th. This “re-edition,” marks the first time My Little Pony fans will be able to purchase a collection of Pony songs on CD, which will include a special reversible booklet showcasing the albums lyrics on one side and a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Christmas poster on the other. The album will also be available for digital download.

A Pony Kind of Christmas features all of the seasonal classic and original carols from the original version, as well as five brand-new tracks from “A Hearth’s Warming Tail,” the 2016 holiday episode of Discovery Family’s popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic animated television series.

“My Little Pony fans absolutely loved last year’s holiday album, which is why we’re thrilled to offer them this bigger and better version to ring in the holiday season in 2017,” said Stephen Davis, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer of Hasbro Studios. “The five new songs in this re-edition are instant classics, and the Holiday poster included with the CD is sure to make this a must buy for Pony fans of all ages.”

The re-edition of A Pony Kind of Christmas features My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic’s “Mane 6” and other favorite Pony characters performing beloved holiday classics such as “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night,” as well as the new original tracks “Hearth’s Warming Eve Is Here Once Again,” “Say Goodbye to the Holiday,” “The Seeds of the Past,” “Pinkie’s Present” and “Luna’s Future.” All music from the album is written and produced by Emmy Award nominated composer and songwriter Daniel Ingram.
