Plastic Age Talks of Themselves and Music!

Trio band PLASTIC AGE is a pop punk rock band whose releases consists of an EP, an album, with a lot more coming. The band goes on to say much more about themselves and the music that they create.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We are three. And we’ve met in high school. Apolline (singer and bass guitar player) intended to put up a girls band. Then she put out an ad after she met Gaëlle (drums). Nicolas (guitar player), in spite of the beard and the low pitched voice answered to the ad. It has been seven years since then and we are proud of the journey so far.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Our band’s name is actually inspired from The Buggles’ « Living in the Plastic Age » but also from the movie The Plastic Age by Wesley Ruggles back in 1925.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from Nevers, France, from the Bourgogne region. The region is quite alive, musically speaking. There are a lot of venues such as concert halls and more small venues like coffee bars and pubs proposing acts and shows. Local bands like Johnny Mafia, our friends, are the most common great bands you can stumble upon in these venues.

4. How would you describe your style?

We are picturing our style as like a « Punk-Pop » style. A mixture of catchy melodies and vocal cores fueled by that « Punk energy ». That’s quite obvious when we’re performing live, on stage because you can tell, just by looking at our hair at the en of the gig. The hairspray that could prevent that mess was not yet invented.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We already released two discs: one EP in 2016 and our first album "Blood Red Roses" in 2018.
The two of them are quite different but we think that they are under the same identity. A lot of catchy songs on the EP whereas the album is more of a "raw" product, both energetic and melodic at the same time, genuinely a mixture of all our influences.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes. We are currently working on a new album. And because our music draws its sources from movies, we’re also releasing music videos every three months on our YouTube Channel.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

This is our second time abroad and our first in England in October. It will be amazing and we are son excited about it! Then we’ll live and see. We’ll keep touring heads up hoping to play abroad more often.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We would like to make a living out of it. Touring, releasing albums, meet up our fans...We are kind of doing it already but we’d like our whole team to join us and do nothing but living our dreams.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The catchy melodies ! By the way a lot of people come back and say that their heads are full of our songs after they have listened and that's cheering us up. Most of all we just want our music to be appreciated and that we could promote it on stage and out there on discs for as long as we can !
