Progressive rocker VENUS LOON  is run by Peter Lawson, whom has released content on both namesakes. Currently working on a solo album expected soon, with possible plans to someday play live! He talks of much greater things involving said acts, and what is ahead for the future.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The “Peter Lawson” releases are just me; I play all the instruments, albeit with a drum machine, rather than an acoustic drum kit. I took up solo recording during the pandemic as, for obvious reasons, I couldn’t play within a band, although it was a completely new experience and I’m still learning with regard to DAW software etc., hence my recordings are truly analogue. Prior to the pandemic I have been in many bands over the years either as a singer or guitarist or both. However, my band days are over due to severe hearing loss. The initial “Venus Loon” albums were just me also, although Wolfgang Ostermann, an excellent drummer based in Germany, joined me on two albums, “Havoc” and “Pandora’s Paradox”. Wolfgang also produced the latter.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Venus Loon is a TRex song from their album Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow. I’ve always been a TRex fan 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I’m based in Manchester, UK and Wolfgang is based in Michelbach, Germany; we’ve never actually met in person! Our music scene is the internet and of course there’s huge numbers of bands out there, including the excellent OOB Records label stable fraternity.

4. How would you describe your style?

It leans towards Progressive Rock, although that varies from release to release. There’s also bits of folk music in there somewhere!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Several albums under the Peter Lawson and Venus Loon names, which can currently be found here: https://peterlawson.bandcamp.com. People can expect something that is wholly original in terms of composition, which is designed to be different from the dirge of the digitally recorded mainstream. The albums are all loosely themed and the tracks are chronological to that end.  

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, I’m currently working on a solo album, provisionally titled “Two Quarks for Muster Mark”; Wolfgang and I will hopefully be partnering up again at the end of 2024 to produce another Venus Loon album. These will be exclusively released via the OOB Records label.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Unfortunately, due to the nature and logistics of the recordings, that isn’t currently possible, although it would be fabulous if we could one day!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As mentioned, I’m hoping to finish a solo album in a few months time and there will be another Venus Loon album in 2025.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That my/our recordings are entirely DIY, but drawn from a vast experience of playing in bands, as well as my/our love of Prog music and “Krautrock”. Neither Wolfgang nor I were aiming for “easy listening”, rather something that is more unorthodox.

Hard rock band THE CHUCK NORRIS EXPERIMENT have eleven albums and counting, along with countless single's, with even an all new album out this summer! In celebration of their twenty years together, they wanted to go and release this album, with plans set to tour, and do so much else in-store!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The Chuck Norris Experiment was formed in Göteborg, Sweden exactly 20 years ago. We were a bunch of people from different bands in the area who just needed something to do in between tours, but after the release of our debut album, we realized that The Chuck Norris Experiment should be more than a side project, and after that we just rolled on! During the first few years we changed band members all over the place, but now we have been the same line up for 15 years. You don’t marry your first dates.
 
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

It is such a stupid band name. We have no excuse except that we had too much to drink when we signed the first record deal and just came up with that name.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend? 

Gothenburg City in Sweden! The music scene here is and has always been excellent! We got a new shining star on the action rock scene here in town called Upploppet, you should check them out! If you like instro/surf/action there is a band called Riptide Rats that is pretty cool.

4. How would you describe your style?

Hard Rock.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Oh, we are 11 studio albums and around 30 singles deep, so if you are new to us, there are plenty of rock to be found. We are a bit tired of hard rock / action rock bands that grow old, and turn down the volume, we will never do that, we will be louder, harder and better for each album. And that folks, is a promise.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

YES! Our new studio album “20” (because we celebrate 20 years as a band this year) will be out in July 2024.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We will tour Spain in October and then we will tour the UK in March. That is all that is booked right now, but there will always be more 😊

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We plan to go on for at least 20 more years, and we have two new album to record in 2025!!

Power pop melodic rock band THE LINDER AVENUE BAND has an EP, single's, with the next release expected real soon. Since this is a studio project, no touring band, no shows at the moment. But the person behind this project, does go into talks about the releases, and releasing more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The Linder Avenue Band is not a “band” per se. I am a singer, songwriter who plays guitar and I have assembled local Las Vegas musicians, as well as musicians from Chicago, to record with to bring my writing alive. The musicians who played on my sessions are outstanding players and singers and they have made their own creative contributions to the tracks. https://linderave.com/the-musicians

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I grew up in a musical home on Linder Avenue in Chicago. The sounds of my family playing music nurtured my interest. The basement of my childhood home on Linder Avenue is where I honed my skills as a musician, and it inspired the name of my recording project.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

My roots as a musician go back to Chicago Illinois however, I have lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years. Las Vegas is an entertainment mecca filled with first rate musicians. Some renowned bands such as The Killers, Panic at the Disco, Five Finger Death Punch had their start in Las Vegas.

4. How would you describe your style?

I would describe the music of the Linder Ave Band as Power Pop Melodic Rock. Influenced by iconic bands of the 70s and 80s, my music is where the heart of rock’s golden era beats with a modern rhythm.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I have released one EP with six songs and two singles. My most recent release is a song called “Someone Out There.”  I have noticed that while we may live in an era of unprecedented connectivity, many people feel more disconnected than ever before. The song is dedicated to anyone who is looking for love or looking for love again in the modern age. You may have asked yourself, is there “Someone Out There?”

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

My next release should be out on June 7th. I have lived in Las Vegas long enough and it is about time I write a song about the Las Vegas Strip. Although the song could be relatable to any hotspot in any city. My next release is called “Midnight Mischief.”

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

The Linder Ave Band is a studio project. I do not have a touring band.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

I hope to write, arrange, record, and release a few songs every year.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I hope my music stylistically transports listeners back to a time of catchy melodies, interesting harmonies, and loud guitars. I try to incorporate elements that I like to hear in a song. Such as vocal and instrumental melodies, vocal and instrumental harmony, interesting rhythmic ideas, I try and take my listeners somewhere unexpected and back again, and I try and use relatable topical lyrics. I hope to create music that is both refreshingly new and nostalgically familiar.

Up and comer TALKRADIO has been actively doing music for sometime now. Releasing some works over time, with all new ideas coming together at times. Live performances have not happened, but wanting to write, record, and release more music is always possible. The man behind this band does it all, and will continue to craft music for as long as possible, see what is discussed below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Well, I’ve been doing this all by myself for a very long time. If we go back to the very beginning, there were two of us. I started this in the late 90’s with a bandmate from the cover band I was gigging with at the time. I didn’t play guitar back then, so he would play all the guitar parts. I then recruited other friends for the drums and bass when we were ready to do studio recordings. Sadly, he left the project only a few years later, right after we received a letter in the mail from a Sony executive wanting to come to Melbourne to meet us. When I told that exec that my guitarist had quit, he moved on. I still have that letter. I then decided I was going to continue alone. I was already a trained drummer and a trained vocalist at the time, so I decided to learn the other instruments I needed so I wouldn’t have to rely on anyone anymore.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I was a big Radiohead fan back then. I still am. At one point, someone I worked with mentioned how they still listened to ABC talk radio on the way to work and I thought it would be funny if someone was referring to a band every time they said “talk radio”. I decided to make it one word, to mimic “Radiohead”.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I’m based in Melbourne, Australia. Although there are a couple of little pockets where you can still find live music, it’s a much smaller scene here than it used to be. Up until around 2000, almost every pub you could find was a live music venue. Sadly, since the rise of poker machines, many of these venues now rely on gambling rather than live music audiences. There’s also been a big rise in “open mic nights”, so many venues don’t want to pay anyone who gets up to play. As far as recent Australian acts go, I’ve been listening to “Twelve Foot Ninja” a lot. For something a little more mainstream, I like “Myth of Her”.

4. How would you describe your style?

That’s a funny question, because the compliments and comments I’ve had this year from curators and magazines around the web sometimes contradict my idea of how I sound. Each person seems to put me in a different category. I can only assume that means I don’t sound like anyone in particular, which is a great thing if it’s true. I’ve had people call my style alternative, heavy rock, pop rock, post grunge, and even AOL!! That last one was particularly funny, because I haven’t listened to any AOL since I was a kid and it’s not exactly one of my favourite genres. My influences come mostly from 90’s grunge and alternative, but also from some great 70’s acts. Bands I still listen to regularly include Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stonage, Radiohead, Powderfinger, Florence and the Machine (Ceremonials in particular), Nothing but Thieves, Arctic Monkeys (AM in particular), Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, The Beatles, and Cat Stevens. I still go back to Iron Maiden every now and again as well.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

The first 2 releases back in 2000 were EP’s which you can’t get anymore. The CD’s sit in a cupboard in my little studio at home. Even so, some of those songs made it onto the first album I released online, which was “Timewatching”. That album was sort of a compilation. It contains some songs I recorded while my original guitarist was still with me, as well as songs I wrote after he left. This is why the production sound between the songs varies. It’s an album of 3 different studio sessions. The second album was the first time I played every instrument in the studio. That album was “Something from Nothing”, which was released in 2019. The latest album is “Choose”. The main thing I can say about my stuff is that it’s not possible to categorize what I sound like from one song. I don’t try and make a who album sound like a particular style. I’ve never thought “ok, I need this album to sound like <insert band here>”. I come up with a melody and then play what I think would suit it. If it needs heavy guitars, that’s what I play. If it needs acoustic guitars, that’s fine too. I’ve even come up with stuff that’s mostly piano, although it hasn’t been recorded at this stage. As a result, I guess you shouldn’t expect each song to be like the last.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes. I always get new ideas, but they’re not always great ideas. What sounds good to me on the first day may not sound so good the next. I’m very particular about what I end up recording. When I listen back to my albums, I don’t want to get to something that I feel like skipping. This is why I take my time. At the moment I have two songs I’m working on that I feel have huge potential. When I have 5, I’ll be back in the studio. I decided it’s no longer worth recording entire albums. I will be going back to releasing EP’s only.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Given I do this by myself, live shows are obviously not possible. I only perform live with my cover act, which is an acoustic duo.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

All I can do is continue to write and record, as long as the ideas keep coming. It would be awesome to be able to play my music live, but that isn’t likely. The first original project I was in was a prog rock group. It ran for 5 years and had developed something of a following in Melbourne at the time, so I remember how rewarding it is to be able to perform your own music on a stage.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time

Hmm, not a question I’ve seen before. I guess you could keep in mind that every vocal and instrument (except for bass) is me, but as far as remembering goes, I’m hoping the melodies are what end up sticking. In the end, that’s what it’s all about.

Rock band TAMALA PARK BOOK CLUB have an EP, singles, with newer singles releasing til the release of the end of the year, where their debut album will be released. The band plays shows, with possibly touring, with them just wanting to grow and expand as much as they can. Find out just what else was talked about all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Tamala Park Book Club was launched in 2018 when we released our debut EP ‘Colour Your World’. The band consists of Marcel Bluett on drums, Daniel Harvey on guitar and Craig Roger and Patrick de Rooy sharing guitar and bass duties, with all members providing vocals. Having many vocalists in the band allows us to play different styles of music that we enjoy and allows for greater creative scope. Since the start, we have released many singles, and 2024 will see us release our debut album.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Craig and Patrick came up with the band name by bouncing ideas off each other. They both liked the idea of a ‘Book Club’ and had a few variations between settling on ‘Tamala Park’, a local rubbish dump. The name is an inside joke about how us blending our diverse influences together sounds like trash, and it’s stuck ever since. 

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Tamala Park Book Club are proud to call Perth, Western Australia home. Being a geographically isolated city, Perth is bursting with talent across all genres, and we’re thrilled to be part of it. Some local acts we enjoy listening to include alternative singer-songwriter RinRin, metalcore heavyweights Patient Sixty-Seven, pop punk lads ColourMind and indie rockers Scream Mountain. Local rehearsal studio the Hen House have a solid playlist of Perth talent on Spotify called ‘Hella Hen Homies’ which perfectly showcases the Perth music scene.

4. How would you describe your style?

Rock. It’s broad enough for us to cover most of what we do. The music we make reflects the music we like, and our songs genre jump from pop punk to indie rock, emo to post-hardcore. Our sound is upbeat and mellow, heavy and soft, fast and slow. We believe we have something for every listener.  

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

An EP and several singles so far. Listening to our music, you’ll experience soaring vocal harmonies, face-melting guitar solos and a few breakdowns thrown into the mix.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Right now, we’re releasing a steady stream of singles as we get closer to our debut album scheduled for the end of 2024.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We play shows around Perth as often as we can. We’re exploring the possibility of touring the east coast of Australia. Unfortunately, Perth has been plagued by the closure of many venues in recent times, making it harder to play shows – but we persist!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Growing as much as we can. Whilst music is a hobby for us all, we all have day jobs. We’d like to reach a point where we can do music full time but life changes over time. We’ll keep going as long as we can and as long as we still enjoy it.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We hope that the first listen makes them come back for more! Hearing a good song for the first time stays with you; that song becomes a memory of a time in your life. We’re aware that some people feel that way about some of our songs and we are ecstatic – we hope more people come to enjoy more of our music.

Rockin metalhead IRIAN DARKWOOD talks with us about music, wanting to play live shows, releasing their first single, with a whole lot more lined up already, with newer music also in the works. So much is talked about and can be found all below!

1. Please tell us the history of your music career

I grew up singing in choirs and I would sing all the time at home, it was really kind of funny when I got ‘caught’ dancing and singing to my music in my room haha. I’ve always wanted to be a singer, just the opportunity for it never presented itself other than choirs and such until I was 19, then I took to the karaoke stage.

That was when I got a taste of how wonderful it was to sing in front of people, and see them enjoying it, and even complimenting me on it. I became a regular karaoke ‘addict’ ha, I just loved singing in front of people, it was so much fun.

I took to practicing at home daily, because I wanted to sound good, even if it was ‘just karaoke’ as they say, I wanted people to enjoy the songs I sang. I started out singing mostly country music actually, and I would post terrible videos of me at karaoke. But, my musician friends started paying attention and one day I was invited to sing with a local blues band, for a song or two, just really small, but that was really the start of me doing more than karaoke, as I had no words in front of me and I had a live band behind me.

A country artist friend also noticed my love for music as I would also attend a lot of the local gigs and support them, promote them online etc. and he invited me to the Canadian Country Music Awards showcases, where I made a tonne of connections and friends.

All this time I was still a regular karaoke singer, and just loving singing for people. One day, in a musician group I run on Facebook, I saw a band ( Pressure) was looking for a singer and I messaged them, but then I got cold feet because I thought I wasn’t good enough, we stayed in contact though, and Njord, who was the founder of the band, and I became friends on Facebook.

After a few months of seeing my videos of karaoke and talking to me online, Njord told me he was actually a manager of music too and asked me if I was interested in signing a contract with his company at Dark Nomad. At first I thought he was nuts for asking because I had very little actual experience in this realm of the music industry, but he insisted he heard real talent, and we talked about it some more, and finally, I signed the contract.

We started working on a lot of songs, and at first I really felt in over my head, but Njord and the others have been so encouraging, even through my ‘temper tantrums’, and it’s been really awesome working with them, and now, we’re seeing the results of all the good work we’ve put into this, with this first release coming out June 21! I’m very excited for the other songs too.

2. What’s the origin of your artist name?

I guess this is where everyone finds out my nerdy side haha. Irian was a name I adopted because I played Dungeons and Dragons, I play an elven mage, so I added Darkwood as my last name because it’s more elven that way.

I took this name as my artist name, because I wanted something unique , and I was pretty sure no one had a Dungeons and Dragons name ha. Darkwood works well I find for the genre of music I sing too, so, yeah, my ‘cool factor’ may have lost a few points with this, but that’s ok haha.

3. Where are you based out of? What is the local music scene like there? Are there any bands you would recommend?

I’m based out of Halifax Nova Scotia Canada, the local music scene is pretty good, there are lots of great bands out there ( in my opinion), although as I’m sure it is everywhere else also in this digital age, it can be difficult to get huge numbers to attend gigs. Honestly I suggest checking any band out you can, but if I were to recommend a couple? I’d say try out Witchitaw if you like country, The Kevin Fletcher Band for blues ( he’s a friend so I thought I should plug for him ha), and Slightly Slanted for some fun rock type music… and of course myself haha.

4. How would you describe your style?

I think I would describe my style as rock/metal. The reason I use both is because it kind of blends together, so you hear both styles in the music. Some can be harder, more metal like, others can be more rock like.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far? Lost Heart is the first song to be released, we have many more lined up in the future though. I would say people can expect a new take on some songs they might already know, plus really cool, emotional, energetic originals.

Always, lots to come in the near future!

7. How about playing shows and touring, do you have anything planned out?

Well the goal is to get to playing live shows and touring soon, right now, I have the music for streaming.

8. What plans do you have for the future as an artist?

My plans? To get as much music out there as I can, and, I suppose try to make Irian Darkwood a household name so to say.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember most when listening to your music?

I’d say that I would want them to remember how the music made them feel, maybe what the song brings up in terms of their lives and how it relates to them.

Modernized metalcore, blended with pop punk with lots of emo thrown in is what IMPOSSIBLE PROM KINGS says about their style of music. Releasing their EP later this year, with their first video single out now, the band goes into great discussion about themselves and music all below!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We are a post hardcore band that formed in 2024. Hunter Fury (guitar) and Kyle Lytle (vocals) began writing for the project in late 2023, before finding members Tyler Venne (bass), and Joshua Halls (drums).

2. What’s the origin of the bands name?

Before writing any of the music, Kyle and Hunter began speculations to start a band. Upon learning each others musical influences, they started writing together and there was a common theme. The name came from the idea that our music was written for outcasts. For the ones who could never fit in.

3. Where is your band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of the Twin Cities, in Minnesota. The scene in Minneapolis and even all across the state is thriving, and continuing to grow. Shout out to our friends in Sorrows Never Die, and Ghostmade Cellophane for joining us on our debut show in July.

4. How would you describe your style?

Modern nostalgia. Influences of Metalcore and Pop Punk, lots of emo.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We released our first single and music video “Highest Tower” on 5.22.24. If you like bands reminiscent of A Day To Remember and Silverstein etc, you’ll likely dig our track!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We have plans to release an EP late 2024. “Highest Tower” encapsulates our vision of the upcoming EP as a whole.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

As of now we have two shows booked, one in Brainerd, MN at Ya Sure Kombucha, and the other in Fargo, ND at the Parachigo. More dates planned to be announced soon, but you can find future dates at impossiblepromkings.com. We are motivated to become a national and international touring act, and will go as far as the music will take us.

8. What plans do you have for the future of the band?

We hope through our music to connect with as many fans as psychically possible. Which would also entail hitting the road and doing some touring.

Through our music, we would like any listener or fan to be able to personally connect in any way they interpret it. To be able to emotionally invest and feel personally connected to our music on that level is what we really hope for.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

We came together as a recording project between myself, Brad Young (guitar) and Brant Bjork (Kyuss / Fu Manchu), after touring together I asked Brant to collaborate on some song writing and it went from there! WE have also collaborated with other desert muso’s like Nick Oliveri and Dave Catching. We are now a fully fledged live and recording band with my good mates Brad (guitar), Matty (Drums) and Ben (Bass).

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name actually comes from many years ago, myself and my brother and a few friends used to book shows when we were teenagers under the name “Full Tone Generator” and we would just jam on stage, so no song writing or rehearsing, so I stole the name for this project / band!! It seemed really fitting for what we were doing now.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in Melbourne Australia but we do tend to travel all over, play a lot of shows around Australia and also venture over to the USA to jam and record as well as play shows over there. The scene here is actually really good, especially in Melbourne, lots of venues supporting local bands, my fav Australian band at the moment is “Kitchen Witch” from Adelaide, killer heavy blues based rock with soulful female vocals.

4. How would you describe your style?

Its Aussie Desert Rock!! We are heavily influenced by the Californian desert rock scene but were from Australia!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have two studio albums and a 7” out plus a live album. We are promoting our new album at the moment – “refuge of sinners”, it was recorded at rancho de la luna in Joshua tree California and we are super proud of it.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are always writing and working on new music but for now we are just getting out on the road promoting our new record. WE have plans to return to USA to record next year with a new producer, its all a secret at the moment but we are also excited for that!

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

YES! We have just finished our Australian tour and we are playing a few shows here in the next few months, then we are heading to Europe for a month long tour in November.

We just love playing live, so lots of that and we will record a new album again next year and also tour the states while we are there.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The main thing people notice about our music is that we put a lot of effort into the song writing and I write from a pretty personal place, the lyrics are not just all cars and girls, its meaningful but the music is also primal, I would hope that the listener can hear that and that they can “feel” our music rather than just listen to it. I really hope people can make a personal connection to our music.

Progressive metal rockers ELEVENWIRE have their debut album out, with the band already working on the follow-up, with plans to play live soon enough! The band talks about formation, music, and wanting to create more music for all to hear and enjoy!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Ron:  Jonathan and I are brothers and have played music together since we were kids.  Jim and I had a band together in the early ‘90’s called Vis a Vis and have been friends ever since. We got together back in 2017 to discuss doing an album project together.  We have a good friend that was our original drummer, but he couldn’t continue for personal reasons.  Since we’re huge fans of the Neal Morse Band, we reached out to Eric Gillette (NMB Guitarist) about playing drums for us.  He agreed and also offered to mix and master the album for us at his studio, EKG Studios, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Jonathan, Jim and I went to Tulsa for a week in June of 2023 to mix the album with Eric.  With the album complete, we reached out to a few independent record labels and enthusiastically signed a deal with OOB Records out of the Netherlands.  We’re happily surprised at the response so far.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Ron: I’m 11 years older than Jonathan and “TenWire” wasn’t available.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Jonathan:  The band is based out of the Bay Area in California, but we live a few hours apart.  The music scene has always been big here.  Bands like Journey, Doobie Brothers, Santana, Metallica, and so on came from here.  We’re huge fans of Spock’s Beard, Pattern Seeking Animals, and Enchant, all from California.

4. How would you describe your style?

Jonathan:  Symphonic hard progressive rock with a few moments of metal.  Think: Rush, Van Halen and Kansas having a baby.  On our album, Blood Red Sun, the lyrics describe a post-apocalyptic nightmare brought about by artificial intelligence.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Jim:  We released our debut album, Blood Red Sun on March 1st 2024 on OOB Records.  The album starts out with a traditional-sounding orchestral piece that morphs into a more modern, mechanical sound, suggesting that A.I. has taken over the music.  Listeners can expect heavy riffs along with melodic interludes and haunting vocal melodies, and hopefully be moved by its intense dynamics.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Jim:  We’re secretly working on a second album, but don’t have any estimate for its release date, so don’t tell anybody.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Ron:  We’re currently working on finding additional players for a live band with the idea of playing shows locally, but we’re also open to other opportunities, e.g., “cruises.”

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Jonathan:  Besides putting together a live show, we’d love to continue to write and produce music that we and our fans want to hear.

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid formed in 2023 and is based out of Little Rock, Arkansas. We are an anonymous group, each member wearing white masks to maintain our mystique. Our music blends modern metal, metalcore, EDM, horror, pop-punk, hardcore, and more. Our songs serve as both rebellion and party anthems, offering a unique, immersive metal experience.

2. What's the origin of the band's name?

The name "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" reflects our anonymous and uniform identity. Inspired by the classic noir film, it captures the essence of our aesthetic and the rebellion against a dystopian regime. It symbolizes our faceless existence within a digital simulation, where we use music to defy conformity and celebrate freedom.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is based out of Little Rock, Arkansas. However, we have members and collaborators located across the country. The local music scene here in the Little Rock area is vibrant and diverse, with a strong community of metal and alternative bands. We recommend checking out Terminal Nation for some intense hardcore, Pallbearer for their haunting doom metal, and Gorepig from Jonesboro for that unique flavor of modern nu-metal. Arkansas' scene is a melting pot of talent and creativity, making it an inspiring place for our own musical journey.

4. How would you describe your style?

Our style is "party metal"-a high-energy blend of modern metal, metalcore, EDM, pop-punk, hardcore, and more. We infuse our music with cyberpunk aesthetics, creating an immersive experience that combines intense, rebellious anthems with a vibrant, electrifying vibe.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released six songs so far, including originals and a cover. Our music is a fusion of modern metal with influences from metalcore, EDM, pop-punk, hardcore, and more. Listeners can expect high-energy tracks with intense guitar riffs, powerful vocals, and thought-provoking lyrics that explore themes of rebellion, existential questioning, and cyberpunk imagery.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we have new music in the works! Stay tuned for our upcoming single "Grievance," which blends modern metal with intense electronic and horror elements, creating a unique and electrifying sound experience. We're excited to share this new track with our fans and continue pushing the boundaries of our musical style. "Grievance" will be available on Friday, May 31st.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Currently, we don't have plans for live shows or touring. At this time, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid exists solely in the digital realm, focusing on creating immersive music experiences and engaging with our fans through online platforms. However, we're always exploring new ways to connect with our audience and share our music in exciting ways.
