Progressive metal band DARKFLOW have been doing music for a while now, releasing a couple of full-length's, EP, and array of singles. Their latest album was released just recently, with no plans yet as far as shows and or tours go. But the music is where it is at and the frontman vocalist Sean Horror, goes into talks about that latest album and those plans in motion.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
DarkFlow is a Shock Metal act from Switzerland, created in 2019. DarkFlow was created by Sean Horror and Flow, after creating the style that defines DarkFlow, we released our first EP called “6” in 2020, then we developed more our music into something more theatrical and dramatic, we released “Insane Circus”, we had worked with Andy LaRocque from King Diamond since “Insane Circus” and he produced with us our last opus called “Imminent End” which was released the 27th of May 2025. Now about the members, DarkFlow’s original members are Flow (Lead Guitar/Composer) and Me (Sean Horror Singer/Lyricist/Frontman), we had many formations and many musicians who had the pleasure to share creation and stages with us, but now DarkFlow is finally with a solid band, Our members other members are Meech K (Rythm Guitar), Soa Grihim (Drums) and Dr. Trykster (Bass) and we are more than a team, we are all friends and we all have the same goal. Make the darkest band on earth ahahahah.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
Flow came with the idea of the name which I immediately accepted because I loved it, I feel that the cosmic phenomena of “Darklow” which exists is a mysterious, yet scary reality that lives in our universe. So of course DarkFlow was born with that name, the only “Change” is that we use the D and the F in caps. We know we’re not the only band with that name but we have more numbers and we created something that has been internationalized. So DarkFlow is our name and our product is our music. We invite people to hear our music and follow us. DarkFlow is here to stay.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We’re based in Lausanne, the French part of Switzerland, there are many acts that I could recommend. DarkFlow being one of the representing bands of Shock Rock in Switzerland we have had the chance to share the stage with many excellent bands like Algebra (Thrash Metal), Shrooms Circle (Doom Metal), Monkey3 (Progressive Rock), Peace Is Just A Break (Death Melodic Metal), AM/PM (Death Metal). We have a very great quantity of quality bands in Switzerland but there are few of them actually going outside the country and having created followers beyond Swiss borders.
4. How would you describe your style?
We use the name of Shock Metal, but we also mix Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Gothic Metal, Symphonic Metal, Electronic elements in some songs, making them a little bit more dynamic and each song is very different from each other. But the main point is that we mix theatre with metal music and we like to make it on our own terms and that defines what DarkFlow is.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
As said before, we released an EP called “6” in 2020, then “Insane Circus” in 2023, and now a few days ago we released “Imminent End”.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
We’re working on new music, yes, I am focusing on building a concept and we’re going to be doing new releases in due time. There are some ideas we’re sharing and talking about between me and Flow, and we’re going to work for a new album soon. We’re now focused on the promotion of “Imminent End” but we will give our best shot to be doing something that pushes new boundaries soon. The creativity we have is endless, adding to my horror concepts, scary things are coming!
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Touring is on the table, yes, but I have just passed through a very complicated surgery so I am not available for shows or a tour until further notice. I want to be in perfect shape to do concerts, because our concerts are mixed with theatre and I take that role very strongly, so for giving people the best of me I have to be in shape, but soon I will start the booking and negotiating process to deliver and bring with my highest standards a show that people will never forget. So we will announce that soon.
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
My plans are promoting our music, doing shows and creating new music, To be everywhere we can and to create a strong full fanbase for our journey to be easier and I will always be in proximity with the people who like our music and come to our shows. I believe that being there and creating good relations with your audience is something that lasts forever. So, if you ever come to a DarkFlow concert and ask to talk with Sean Horror, I will be pleased to give my time to those who want to meet with me. I can’t say the same for the band since we all have different approaches with people, but I am very into socializing with people.
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to our band through every streaming site, you can see videos on YouTube and subscribe because there will be live performances coming on video too. and for buying our merch, we just started selling our vinyl for Imminent End on BandCamp, soon we will come with a new merch site and with many new items to sell. Also if you come to the shows, there will always be a merch stand and we will always bring new items to our stands, also I am always going to show up in one moment or another to the merch stand to sign merch and give people the moment to take pictures and share with me.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
The important thing which is hard to make people understand is the powerful theatrical lyrics. But if you like our production and you like what we do, then that’s a win for me, we work very hard and if you remember our melodies, or our harmonies, that the music gets in your head, then we have achieved our goal. Making music is very personal, people liking it is a very great thing, it brings the strength and moral to keep going and keep working on the music. Thank you very much for this interview, Sean Horror
