Somberwind Talks of New Music and a Live Session!

Gothic metal band SOMBERWIND have their debut album out, and all new material is being worked upon now for a follow-up album! They have a lot more plans in-store including a live session that was recorded over the summer, expected to be out and about real soon! More is talked about from music to more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Somberwind- began in the middle of 2018, as a collaboration project between me (Marco) and Caterina Nix, after we recorded some parts of the songs. We realized we could continue as a duo, including some fellow session musicians. Then we finished the whole album. Caterina Nix leads her own project too, the name of that project is Chaos Magic, and I'm part of other bands as well, but my main band is Somberwind. Cesar, our drummer, also collaborates with other musicians on other different projects.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name describes a state of soul when you know difficult times are on the horizon and you will be called upon to resist. This is because all this dark wind will cover you. That’s how I came up with the portmanteau: Somber and Wind, Somberwind.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from Santiago de Chile. The local scene here is expanding, there are many bands of different styles, but we mostly play and get along in the underground scene.  Of course I can recommend some clubs like -La Blondie- (discoteque, bar), local and international shows are often being played there; Teatro Caupolican has huge concerts; Arena Recoleta, and many more I will tell you if you have the opportunity to visit us…

4. How would you describe your style?

We are mainly a Goth Rock and Dark - Gothic Metal band .

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our 1st album -REMAIN-, was released under Sleaszy Rider Records Label in April 2021. We also have 2 Videos of 2 tracks of the album (Emptiness and The Spell) live on YouTube. We recorded a live session on August 8th, it is almost ready to be published. We are finishing our third Music Video for the song Coven, and we have to send a cover for a tribute album we were invited to in February of 2022. You can expect more gothic and dark melodic songs…..

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I'm working on new songs for a 2nd album , which I hope will be released next year.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Everything we planned about touring was suspended, but as soon things get normalized, we will start touring. The plan is to see how this pandemic situation evolves and take dates for live performances afterwards.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As I said before we recorded a live session on August 8th and it’s almost ready to be published. It consists of 5 songs from Remain and they are recorded entirely live. We are finishing our third Music Video for the song Coven too, and planning a fourth music video.

By February 2022 we have to send the master audio of a cover song from a tribute album that we were invited to participate in. About live shows, our next concert is scheduled for the 13th of November, and we are planning a tour for next year. The 2nd album could be released next year too.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to Somberwind on all major digital platforms, such as Apple Music, Google Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer, and so on..

Our album can be purchased -almost worldwide- in many stores online, and direct with the label and distributors, as Amazon, ebay, Deep Discount, Barnes And Noble, dr music, dig it, exile music, serious sounds, nsiren records, wow ,to mention a few, just search in the internet for the store nearest you .

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The profound feelings a low voice combined with a pristine female voice can do for a hopeful but misunderstood soul…Thank you so much Natalie and keep the faith. Best wishes for all - Marco Cusato
