The Unsung Talks of Much More Music and Show Playing to Come Soon!

Metalcore progressive band THE UNSUNG have two EP releases out "Rise" and "Sin Cera", with even newer working's set for release come the spring time! In the mean time the band plays to play some shows with a tour coming later this year! The band goes into talks about much more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The Unsung began in 2015 gaining a foothold in the local Southern California metal scene and releasing a debut EP titled, ‘Rise’. After a change of lineup, the two founding members, Devin Castro and Tyler Sinclair, were joined by Thomas Sumstine and Garrett Brown in mid 2018. The band has been releasing content including several music videos with a combined >100k views, acquiring endorsements, and sharing the stage with large acts such as The Word Alive, Miss May I, and We Came As Romans.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

During the conception of the band, we struggled to come up with a name for weeks.  We were so frustrated with our inability to come up with a name, that we approached giving ourselves a name that was about being nameless.  The Unsung means being uncelebrated.  Our names and our faces do not matter, hence our logo being a masked figure.  All we truly care about is our music and our message being heard.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

The Unsung is based out of Southern California. The music scene is competitive, yet blooming with underground talent. Two very notable local bands we would authentically recommend are Aslyus and He Films The Clouds.

4. How would you describe your style?

We have strong Metalcore roots with subtle touches of progressive metal, mixing things up into one cohesive sound with the consistency of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal and allusions to the great melodic leads of the 80’s. That sound combined with our ultra-high intensity live performances creates an experience that is sonically beautiful and highly engaging, staying with the audience long after the show has ended.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Our two major releases consist of our debut EP, ‘Rise’, as well as our second EP, ‘Sin Cera’. The former holds to the classic guitar shredding and heavy rhythms which defined Metalcore as a genre; the latter drawing from a much more eclectic sonic palette that conveys substantially more mature musicianship and an unhindered artistic passion that will melt your face off.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We not only have released a new single with a music video, but have more songs prepping for release this Spring.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are planning a west coast tour later this year, and lining up shows with various bands and promoters throughout Southern California in the meantime.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As a band, we are eager to actively tour both nationally and internationally.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is available for streaming/purchase on all major streaming platforms in the link below!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Disregard any preconception about the image of the band; rather absorb the raw message and energy within the songs themselves.
