Alternative band OCEANS ABOVE talks about their latest releases, playing shows, touring set for the next year, with them set to release all new music real soon.
1. Why did you want to play this genre?
It comes from roots when we first got into learning our instruments from the mid 2000 alternative scene of that time.
2. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes. Clayton and Jacobs pretty grew up together and we met JR in 2013.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We originated in Mcalester OK. Our scene here has always been pretty small so we were adopted into the local OKC scene and had small roots in Tulsa during earlier years. Both having healthy scenes to catch a great show regularly.
4. Who or what inspires you to write song?
We just enjoy making music inspired by the music that got us into playing.
5. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Lyrically we try to write to inspire open interpretation of what you feel when listening.
6. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Yes. Our process for the last EP and next few releases came from taking a few jam session ideas as a bare bone song into studio and layering new ideas for the song until we reach a song we are happy with.
7. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
We have released a self titled EP and the sojourner EP.
8. Do you have any new music in the works?
Absolutely! Our newest song Embellish and Sway will be releasing on all platforms Sept, 19, 2025 and we have plenty more coming after that so stay on the lookout!
9. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
We currently playing semi regionally to us, anywhere in OK, and surrounding states. We have toured in the past and plan on touring again 2026.
10. What plans do you have for the future as band?
Write and release new music, and playing lives shows.
