Attraction To Tragedy Talks to Us After Close to 10 Year Gap of Last Chat!

Heavy sad act ATTRACTION TO TRAGEDY has been creating music for quite sometime, having first spoken to the band back in 2012, then again in 2016, now close to almost 10 years, we speak to one another yet again. The band talks on if they have changed, what new music they have made, accomplished, goals set or in mind, and what plans lay ahead.

1. The very first time we spoke was back in 2012, then the next time in 2016, now nearly 10 years later, what has been going on all this time?

Quite a bit has happened through the years. Put out another record, Reinventing Romance, as well as an EP and singles. The band has also opened for bands like Ice Nine Kills, The Funeral Portrait, Eyes Set To Kill and Asking Alexandria to name a few.

2. Since those two times, the band's logo changed in-between then, is that still the case now?

As our sound has evolved it only felt natural that the logo should reflect that. Also got tired of people saying they couldn’t read it too haha.

3. The band has released an array of singles, videos, an album, but what else is there?

There is a lot more. Seeing us live, especially now, is very different. There’s a confidence and assuredness that wasn’t there from me before. The beauty of darker times is that they’re an opportunity for growth if you want them to be. Trying to maintain as well as raise the standard for myself with each release and performance.

4. How much would you say the band has changed since the very first formation?

My Hell to Possessed is a pretty big jump. I still love all the same bands I did then but now I have a wider pool of influences. More focused now on the emotional through line of our songs rather than how heavy they are. Went from trying to be everything to everyone to looking to a band like Katatonia that despite the changes in sound the atmosphere and lens has remained the same.

5. Have you considered re-releasing your previous albums?

There’s no replacing the original for what they represent but I think about what I could do knowing what I know now. Reinventing Romance although more recent has some things that I’d like to revisit. Passion Over Fashion and earlier would be a larger undertaking. Also it comes down to the choice of recording new music or re-recording older music. Never say never.

6. Did the band ever get signed to a label or has this all been DIY?

All DIY. However I’ve gotten to work with so many talented people along the way and I’d be remiss not to mention that.

7. Has the band played any shows or gone on tour or plan to do either or?

We opened for Eighteen Visions last month and are excited about playing more.

8. Does the band have any more goals set in stone that they would like to accomplish or have they do so?

I’ve only scratched the surface. There are more songs to be written and shows to be played. The music will outlive me and I want to give people something to remember. And if i can get them to check out the music that inspired me like with We Sleep Forever then even better. There are so many people to meet and thank as well.

9. What else can we expect to see from you guys for 2025?

I’ve spent a lot of time in the studio and I’m looking forward to sharing that. As well as performing and writing more. There is always something to do.

10. Anything else you would like to say or add?

Thank you to anyone that’s listened or taken the time to check out Attraction to Tragedy. It doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you for reaching out!  Our new single Possessed is out now.
