Melodic dark electro band FRONTAL BOUNDARY got it's start back in 2002, then a hiatus happened and the band would make a comeback in 2008, going on to release their debut album a few years later. Now years later, the band has gone on to play shows, tour with countless acts, releasing all new working's, line-up changes, the whole deal. The band has taken sometime to chat with us about all of this and what the future holds.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it come out just like that?
Frontal Boundary is where everything collides — the calm before the storm and the chaos after. Just like the weather pattern it’s named for, the band thrives on tension, release, and the unpredictable moments where control slips away. It’s music born from that collision point, where everything gets out of control.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This type of music has always screamed to me. It has always scratched this itch. TBH I listen to a very wide realm of music. Anything from Spice Girls to Behemoth, but industrial is by far my favorite. That aggressive dance music!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes and No! We all three knew each other before we joined up together. In different projects over the years but we all fell into this together in the end.
4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are now located in Los Angeles! (Well 2/3 of us. Jaysen is in New Orleans). It is a great scene... very big and broad. Some acts to look out for here are UNTER NULL, Contracult, Fact Pattern, and Divider.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Anything. A lot has been going on in our country and that has led to inspiration, that being in anger or sadness. We try to write about topics that man a lot to us…
6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
The songs are about personal growth and issues that we all face. An example is the song “Shutting Down.” This song is about depression and how we have internal dialogue that pulls us in different directions and how we try to pull ourselves out of.
7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
100%. We usually start with a simple pattern, and we all start molding that into a song. Brendin and I (Krz) tend to bounce ideas off each other back and forth until we have a full-length song... Once we decide this is a song we like, vocals are added and then the final touches go to Jaysen!
8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
As the trio we have released “Shutting Down” and soon to be “Failure.” There is quite a bit of back catalogue and singles. We are working on pushing our sound in a direction that finally fits what we all want. I would hope people will dance and relate to the music!
9. Do you have any new music in the works?
YES, WE DO! We are releasing a new LP with tons of new material. It will be released with Alpha Matrix. The CD will be called “Failure” and will be releasing either end of this year or beginning of 2026. In the meantime, make sure to follow us for our singles and updates!
