Pop punks PINE CREEK ACADEMY have been doing music for this act for sometime now, releasing two EPs, handful of singles, with an all new single out this fall! Some shows are set for play time as well, as the band goes into talks about it all right below.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it come out just like that?
The band name came from the area I grew up in. I lived off of Pine Creek drive and my house was always full of music growing up. The “Academy” part refers to my house being a self taught space for music. I learned a lot on my own in my basement when I was young.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I always liked pop punk from a young age. I’ve been in a pop group as well as a metal project so this was something fresh to do a genre in the middle. Which was more to my style.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Me and Nick (bass player) are in a different band from this project. We also played in “Kulick” years ago. We often talked about starting our own project and eventually this group came together.
4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We are based out of Pennsylvania. In and around the Allentown area. The local scene here is incredible and there’s so many cool bands to recommend.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The songs are often inspired from past emotions and experiences. Musically our influences are bands like knuckle puck, the story so far, state champs and mayday parade.
6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
A lot of our songs are about loss. Or reflecting on life. I’ve always had a hard time with the thought of death and that shows in alot of our music
7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Most of our songs start with simple demos we have. Then with our production team we create the end product.
8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
So far we’ve released two EPs .. “Rewind” and “Flying Saucer”. They content some of our most popular songs like “Bad Guy”, “Echo”, “Negativity” and “Rockstar”. We are currently in our 3rd Ep cycle and signed to “Theoria Records” The plan is to release the album mid fall.
9. Do you have any new music in the works?
We’ve recently released 3 singles this year. Our next song “Dandelion” drops on September 25th featuring Jack The Underdog.
10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
Our next show is October 25th in Philadelphia. We’ve done 2 small tours so far with a bunch of one off shows through our first 3 years as a band.
11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
Coming up we have our Album drop mid fall. We plan to keep releasing music and see where the rest takes us.
