Pop/rock 80's inspired band NIGHTCATCHER have their debut album "Nightcatcher Volume I", out and about, with them releasing their latest single off it titled "Into The Night". Follow-up sophomore album is in the works and expected soon. The band goes into discussion about this release, the single, and future plans.
1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.
It's a new band/project — not even a year old yet. It's a one-man project, so it's pretty easy to talk about the members when there's only one. So, not a lot of history yet — it’s a bit too early for that question🙂.
2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
There weren’t any deep or big thoughts behind the name. It’s an ’80s-style project, so my girlfriend and I bounced around ideas over a few beers one night, and ended up with ‘NightCatcher.’ We thought it sounded cool and very ‘80s.
3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
It’s based in Kastrup, Copenhagen, Denmark — in a Harry Potter-ish closet under the stairs, where my home studio is tucked away. There are a lot of metal bands based in Kastrup — I’d definitely recommend checking out Wasted, an old-school metal band. The scene in Kastrup is really thriving.
4. How would you describe your style?
It’s ’80s style! Every track is different from the others. Some songs use plugin drums, while others are recorded in the studio — so of course, there’s a different feel to each. But it all blends together into a pop/rock recipe.
5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?
‘Into The Night’ is the fourth single from the debut album NightCatcher Volume 1, set to be released later this year. You can expect an ’80s vibe with guitars, synths, and more — combined with lyrics mostly inspired by movies from the ’80s. ‘Into The Night’ is based on Hellraiser.
6. Do you have any new music in the works?
Album number two is already in the works. But in the meantime, there are three or four more singles on the way from this album.
7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?
That’s the tricky part about being a one-man band 😉. There are some loose plans for the future — I’ve got some great friends ready to help me play live, so maybe next year... fingers crossed!
8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?
For now, I'm focusing on this album and the upcoming single releases… or, well, not entirely — I’m already writing songs for the next album too. And hopefully, next year, there will be some live shows!
9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?
You can listen to NightCatcher on almost all digital platforms — and please do 😉. All four released songs have their own music videos, which you can check out on the YouTube channel. There’s nothing for sale yet — no merch in the works at the moment. I think I’ll wait until the live shows start.
10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?
"That this was fucking cool! And making people curious for more — that’s probably the coolest thing that can happen".
