For the first time on African soil, Brochella brings electronic hardcore band I SEE STARS to Rumours Rock City in Johannesburg. Joining them on the night will be local metal heavyweights Facing The Gallows, Truth & Its Burden and OneDaySky.

Brochella, in association with RAM, have yet another stellar line up of heavy and alternative music for all music lovers in Johannesburg at the premier live music venue, Rumours Rock City. This will be the music series’ first international act on any of their line ups starting a new phase in the festival's evolving commitment to bringing the best and biggest music line ups to Johannesburg. I SEE STARS’ mixture of electronic and post-hardcore elements put them at the forefront of the alternative and metal music scene globally and now Johannesburg audiences will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close to the band that is paving the way for their genre of music.

Ashley De Beer, vocalist for hardcore titans Truth & Its Burden, is ecstatic about the upcoming show with I SEE STARS. "I See Stars have been pushing the boundaries of music for years, a great band that innovates and creates music that speaks to a youth culture in ways not many bands can. We’re naturally excited to share the stage and be considered for such a great show. I think it’s going to introduce a younger audience to music they never knew existed and we are most certainly stoked to be a part of it. North Carolina metal outfit Outer Glow has announced their debut EP titled, Lunar // Effect, set to release June 30th. Formed in July of 2016 by Zach Johnson, the former I See Stars vocalist, the band has continuing to build their fanbase by releasing three singles, which are featured on their upcoming EP. After leaving I See Stars, Johnson commented, saying,

"I See Stars was a huge part of my life that I'll never forget or regret. It truly was a dream come true to travel the world and play the tunes we wrote together. The end of my career with I See Stars at first was pretty rocky and it was hard for me not to be bitter, until I seen them play a show without me and saw how happy they were and I knew it was for the best. Outer Glow has been so amazing. It's the first time I've ever had the freedom to express myself lyrically and emotionally and that's something I've been waiting for my whole life. Every member of I See Stars is a composer as well, so sometimes writing songs got very emotional to people's attachments to their art, with Outer Glow it just seems to click. Everybody is pretty good at letting go of ideas if it doesn't pass the democracy of the band. Especially the song "Monsters" I wrote lyrically about struggles with growing up in a broken home and having negative traits of your parents or family. I personally didn't grow up in a broken home but a lot of my best friends did and I've been around it and have seen how much of an influence it can have on people. I'm super excited for everybody to hear what the other guys and I from Outer Glow have put together for our EP, Lunar // Effect. We all put so much time and effort in composing this Ep and I'm beyond thrilled with how it turned out. To wrap things up I'd just like to thank everybody who has ever supported my music career including my friends and family and I See Stars. I love you all and wouldn't be able to do what I do without you guys."

Sumerian Records continues to celebrate its 10 year anniversary, announcing the “10 Years In The Black Tour” featuring label artists Asking Alexandria and Born Of Osiris. I See Stars, After The Burial, Upon a Burning Body and Bad Omens round out the North American tour, which launches on Oct. 25 at Seattle’s Showbox Sodo and wraps up in early December.

“I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a tour,” Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce said. “Not only is this our first true North American headlining tour in two years, as well as our first real U.S. headliner with Denis [Stoff] as our vocalist, but this is also a tour celebrating the incredible 10 year journey of Sumerian Records. We couldn’t be more proud to headline such a pivotal tour package and to celebrate the music Sumerian has released.  The tour will include our biggest production to date and the first trek out in support of our new album, The Black. This is going to be something incredibly special.”

“To see the celebration of a decade of Sumerian culminate with this tour is a true reflection of the communal spirit and vision that this label was built upon,” said Sumerian Records Founder Ash Avildsen.  “Fans will get to see five headliners all go out together, which is very rare these days because of tour politics, egos, money and everything else that gets in the way of giving music lovers an unforgettable line-up. I See Stars, the Michigan-based electronic hardcore outfit will release their fifth studio album, Treehouse, on June 17 via Sumerian Records.

“This is the most time we’ve had to create an album since 3D,” explains vocalist Devin Oliver. “We actually had time to reflect on our past, but most importantly what we want to become. Beyond the music, it felt like an evolution for us emotionally. We finally feel like the band we were meant to be. If you strip it down, it’s not just drums, guitar, bass, vocals, and minor production. The electronic aspects could be their own songs, and we aim to blend everything as seamlessly as possible.”

The band shared the first new music from the release called “Mobbin’ Out” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh5p2GwLvvQ, a song that reflects that “mindful” attitude towards presentation and the idea that the electronic element of I See Stars stand on its own as well.

The 12-song album, which was recorded in Los Angeles, marks a number of first for the band. The biggest change is the band itself being pared down to four members: vocalist Devin Oliver, guitar player Brent Allen, bass player Jeff Valentine and keyboards/drummer Andrew Oliver. I See Stars also enlisted a number of producers to work on the release including Erik Ron [Panic! at the Disco, Saosin], Nick Scott [Asking Alexandria, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!], Taylor Larson [Periphery, Veil of Maya] and David Bendeth (Bring Me The Horizon, Paramore).

I See Star's "New Demons" is by far way better than any of their previous works this makes those releases non-existent. "New Demons" takes the essence and style of I See Stars and delivers a more in-depth experience having the instrumentals working harder than before, allowing the vocals to be more open minded and expressive. "Ten Thousand Feet", "Murder Mitten", "Violent Bounce (People Like You)", "Follow Your Leader", along with the title track is what makes this release better than anything else they have released. These songs and the album in whole just comes full circle making it all work so well it's endless yet flawless at the same time. I See Star's "New Demons" is the fourth and soon to be classic release that makes your listening experience more entertaining and rather enjoyable.

Falling In Reverse's Ronnie Radke has since taken the rap rock approach and decided to write, record, and release this song called "I Wash Cars" which bashes on I See Stars, Sumerian Records, and Lorenzo (the guy with that video calling out Ronnie) a while back on the last tour. There is nothing cool, rock & roll, punk rock, or admirable about treating your peers or fans like they are pieces of garbage. Ronnie Radke is not a good human being. It's one thing to love someone's music, but do not love someone as an individual for who they are not. We do not think it is a coincidence this is the same guy who was arrested for the horrible, violent things you can read about in the links below. He cares about no one but himself and he has reminded us all of this. His latest tweet "people at our shows come to see us everything else is irrelevant. Nuff said." is his way of telling all the other bands he tours with that they don't matter. Why any artist would throw that type of negativity and disrespect out is something we will never understand. This scene is supposed to be about compassion and understanding. Ronnie is rotten.

Out of respect for the industry professionals involved in this debacle, we will not be publicly disclosing any legal documents on the internet. We can confirm that Ronnie kicked the band off the tour but allowed them back on after they forfeited their pay. We can confirm that they were being forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding this in order to stay on the tour. We can confirm that I See Stars were not kicked off yesterday in Detroit because of anything to do with drugs. It was because a grown man was throwing a temper tantrum who claims to be "rock & roll" but is actually worse than a neurotic pop-star diva with a God complex. Just because you no longer do drugs doesn't mean you are no longer a horrible human being. Ronnie now abuses people instead of substances." -Sumerian Records

Falling In Reverse have posted a statement on their Facebook regarding kicking I See Stars off their current The Thug In Me Is You tour. The post, written by Falling In Reverse frontman, Ronnie Radke, explains that I See Stars has been booted due to drug arrests from earlier in the year. But the band rebelled and gave their own reason to this matter which you can read about what really happened HERE.

Michigan-based post-hardcore act I SEE STARS was arrested on August 30 on charges of possession and intent to use hallucinogenic drugs. The bandmembers and their crew were taken into custody by Salina County Police in Salina, Kanasas and were released after posting $1,000 bond each. Vocalist Devin Oliver tweeted about the incident, posting: "Just had the worst 13 hours of my life." He followed that tweet with another message: "First and last time in jail."
