JINJER on returning to North America:

"It’s finally time for some huge announcements: We’re stoked to report that this September, JINJER will return to North America with not only two absolutely sick supports: Hanabie and Born Of Osiris! Sumerian Records continues to celebrate its 10 year anniversary, announcing the “10 Years In The Black Tour” featuring label artists Asking Alexandria and Born Of Osiris. I See Stars, After The Burial, Upon a Burning Body and Bad Omens round out the North American tour, which launches on Oct. 25 at Seattle’s Showbox Sodo and wraps up in early December.

“I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a tour,” Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce said. “Not only is this our first true North American headlining tour in two years, as well as our first real U.S. headliner with Denis [Stoff] as our vocalist, but this is also a tour celebrating the incredible 10 year journey of Sumerian Records. We couldn’t be more proud to headline such a pivotal tour package and to celebrate the music Sumerian has released.  The tour will include our biggest production to date and the first trek out in support of our new album, The Black. This is going to be something incredibly special.”

“To see the celebration of a decade of Sumerian culminate with this tour is a true reflection of the communal spirit and vision that this label was built upon,” said Sumerian Records Founder Ash Avildsen.  “Fans will get to see five headliners all go out together, which is very rare these days because of tour politics, egos, money and everything else that gets in the way of giving music lovers an unforgettable line-up. The fact that these five bands are sharing the stage together and still bringing an opening act to kick off the show makes this a truly special tour. I comment them all. Stay tuned for for lots of upcoming announcements about different activities for bands and fans to interact at at these shows that go beyond just watching them perform on stage.  Mark my words: This will be the most progressive and interactive tour we have ever done. See you on the road.”

Sumerian Records marks its 10 year anniversary with a four week tour, dubbed the Sumerian 10 Year Tour, featuring five of the Los Angeles labels’ bands: Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, After The Burial, ERRA and Bad Omens.

“Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya and After The Burial have all played a crucial role in the new wave of progressive, heavy music and in the pedigree of Sumerian,” said label founder, Ash Avildsen.  “They are some of the most genuine, hard-working and talented musicians I have had the privilege to work with. I vividly remember first seeing all three of them play together at a tiny legion hall in a small Illinois town when Sumerian was less than a year old and they were all unsigned. I can proudly say that without Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya and After The Burial together on the label, Sumerian would not have become the entity it is today. I am honored to have this Midwest menagerie carrying the 10 Year Tour and excited for our newcomers ERRA and Bad Omens.  Thank you to all of the fans who support the bands and the music. Without you, none of this would be possible. See you in the pit.”

Chicago-based progressive metal hybrid BORN OF OSIRIS has parted ways with guitarist Jason Richardson.

Commented the band in a statement: "To all of our fans and followers, we have decided to part ways with guitarist Jason Richardson. This was something that just needed to happen. We will be a more creative, energized, and focused unit as a result.

"The past year was the band's most successful and we owe it all to our amazing fans. We promise everyone that 2012 will see us take further steps to bringing every aspect of our band to a new level.

"We couldn't possibly be more excited for what the future holds. Also, since the finishing touches were put on 'The Discovery', we've already been in the process of writing our next album. The past month and next two we will be home writing and finalizing the record that will be released this summer/fall.

"Big news coming soon regarding our summer touring schedule. We can't wait to see all of you again soon with some new music to play for you!

"We will TEMPORARILY be accepting video submissions for the [vacant guitarist] spot at BOOlessons@yahoo.com."

The group added, "[There is] no reason to tear Jason down for this. He joined CHELSEA GRIN after he found out about us moving on without him. We still love Jason and the rest of the dudes in CHELSEA GRIN, and wish them the best of luck.

"The five of us have been and written all three albums thus far, so if you like the direction we took on 'The Discovery', then you should only be more excited for what we're about to create next."

In a separate statement, Richardson said about his departure from BORN OF OSIRIS, "Just to clarify to everyone, I did NOT quit BORN OF OSIRIS. I would have never been able to bring myself to do such a thing no matter how much tension was between us. All of those dudes were essentially my family; I lived in the same house as them for over two years.

"This was by no means at all my decision (not that I was involved in the decision in any way shape or form, lol). I have been fired from the band because I 'don't agree with the way they want to live their lives' and 'it felt like their dad was in the band.' So instead of confronting me . . . they decided that calling me at 130 in the morning four days before christmas while I'm home visiting family to tell me that all of my belongings from the new BORN OF OSIRIS house were in my trailer on the way to me in Virginia was the professional way to handle it. So I can say with pride that I will NEVER play another note on stage with the group of cowards that is BORN OF OSIRIS. . . I'm just happy the truth finally came out and now I know what truly matters to them and it is NOT putting out albums like 'The Discovery'."

This fall the North American metal community is about to discover just how truly progressive, epic and crushing a touring package can be. One of Sumerian Records' flagship artists, BORN OF OSIRIS, have put together an absolutely devastating line-up for their first headlining run in support of their latest album, The Discovery.

Joining BORN OF OSIRIS on this run will be Veil of Maya, Carnifex, Struc/tures and France's Betraying The Martyrs (performing in the U.S. for the very first time). This highly anticipated trek is set to run between Nov. 18th and Dec. 18th. Either see below for initial dates or stay tuned to www.facebook.com/bornofosiris for additional information and tourdates as they become available over the coming weeks. The next batch of dates will be announced on Oct. 6th.

Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “We couldn't be more excited about 'The Discovery' headlining U.S. tour. We are going to be back in the U.S. with our good friends Veil of Maya for the first time in years. Not only are they an incredible band, they are some of our closest friends from Chicago. Also on the tour is Carnifex. They are a really heavy band and we can't wait to see what they are all about. Struc/tures and Betraying the Martyrs will be opening up the tour. These are some of Sumerian's best new bands. Struc/tures is a great progressive metal band that also has a new album coming out just before the tour on October 24th. Betraying the Martyrs has a new album out and this tour also marks their first U.S. tour to date. We are beyond stoked to be able to present you with a package you haven't seen a different version of ten times! All the bands are fresh and have new music. We'll also be playing our longest set yet. Don't miss it!”

Lee and Joe of Born Of Osiris spoke to me talking about the current tour, what to expect from the band come the New Year and who they’ve spent the most time with while out on the road along with everything else thrown in between.

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Born of Osiris and how long has the band been together?

Joe: I play keyboards and vocals.

Lee: I play guitar.

Lee: the band has been around for 3 years now.

Joe: I met Lee back in the day we’ve known each other for many years now.

2. Born of Osiris re currently on tour with Hatebreed, Cannibal Corpse and Unearth, how has the tour been going so far?

Lee: We love each other with every single tour with do. We have a house together so everything is working out great.

Joe: We’re throwing down more this tour. We’ve pretty much toured with most of these acts before, like Unearth, Hatebreed, Whitechapel, etc so this time we’re giving it our all.

3. What can be said that hasn't been said about "A Higher Place"?

Lee: Skip this question.

Joe: Skip this question.

4. What do you want your fans to say after listening to "A Higher Place"?

Lee: It’s a growth from our last album. We have our own point of view from everything in life.

Joe: We want the people to expect the unexpected when it comes to the music we create.

5. Have you ever had a bad interview experience with a Journalist?

Lee: Oh yes.

Joe: We’ve had our interviews taken down at times. Or just straight out rude and people get the wrong idea when we’re drunk sometimes when doing the interviews.

6. Who did you think spent the most time with while on this tour?

Lee: We all have accounts for the World of Warcraft video game so we play that a lot with Cannibal Corpse.

Joe: I would say Hate Eternal because they go on right before us so they are our buddies.

7. Have any plans for the remainder of this year, and what should we expect from you come next year?

Lee: Well I think we’re doing another headlining tour.

Joe: All the bands we’ve played with we’ve been stepping it up quite a bit.

Lee: After this we’ll go home make a new album in January/February/March so watch out for that come next year along with more touring of course.

8. Any final words of wisdom?

Joe: Whitechapel rocks!

Lee: Check out our recent album “A Higher Place” and watch out for us in the New Year. We’ll have new material, new tours, new everything.
