Raleigh-based rock outfit Alesana has released a stream video for their single, "The Coward," off their new EP, "The Lost Chapters", which is available now. The video is being premiered exclusively with Substream Magazine.

When discussing the new track and EP, vocalist Shawn Milke stated: "The Lost Chapters fills in some blanks for fans who enjoy the small details of our concepts. There are some tunes here that introduce new possibilities as to where our stories could have gone, while others expand on some already existing points. Musically and sonically each song feels like the era in which they were born and really makes The Lost Chapters feel like you are traveling back in time. 'The Coward' is, lyrically and narratively, my favorite of the bunch because it introduces a chapter in The Emptiness that I loved and was disappointed to cut originally. It takes place in the immediate aftermath of 'The Murderer'."

Check out the video stream HERE.

Off the heels of releasing their project Origins, rock outfit and Revival Recordings artist Alesana has released a brand new music video. The song, “Fits and Starts,” comes off their new EP, The Lost Chapters, which is exclusively available through Origins. The music video features footage from fans writing down their fears, giving positive messages, and holding up signs reading “I say farewell to giving up” which is a lyric taken from the track. The band had asked for fan involvement for a secret project back in early October without giving many details to what the videos fans sent in would be used for. When discussing the concept behind the music video and the song, singer Shawn Milke said,

”This music video means a great deal to us. For years, we have had fans tell us that Alesana has saved their lives. Every time I hear those words, I am rendered speechless. To have such a profound effect on somebody through music and art is incredibly humbling. So many have shared stories of survival and perseverance with us. Fits and Starts is our way of saying thank YOU for all YOU have done for us. Thank you for being so open and honest with us. Thank you for sharing your pain, your fears, your hopes, your failures, your successes. We are all in this life together and we should never be afraid to lean on each other. The song is about it being okay to be afraid. It is okay to not know what to do all the time; but we must keep trying. We do not give up. We ask for help if we need it. Positivity is not about ignoring the negative it is about finding ways to overcome it. In the video, you are invited into the world of someone who is writing down their thoughts and then singing it to no-one. This person eventually finds the strength to step back and look to someone for help. It is not about saying farewell and giving up, it is about saying farewell TO giving up. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who contributed to this video. PMA.”

Along with the music video, Alesana has released a shirt with the lyric, "I say farewell to giving up," in languages from around the world. Alesana plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to Hope For The Day. The shirt is available for purchase through the Revival Recordings website right HERE.The music video for “Fits and Starts” is streaming now and can be viewed HERE.

Today not only marks the 13th anniversary of North Carolina based rock/sweetcore band and Revival Recordings artist Alesana, but will also serve as the announcement day for one of their biggest undertakings to date. The project, called Origins, is currently rooted as much in mystery as it is in magnitude for any hardcore fan of the band. Alesana wants fans to know that Origins is a labor of love, created and compiled entirely by their hands, and their hands alone. Vocalist Shawn Milke says of the endeavor:

“Origins is a project that has been years in the making. I always imagined giving everything we possibly could to our amazing fans, both figuratively and literally. Origins is exactly that. This was forged by our own hands, every single aspect of it. It is an experience like no other we have conceived and any questions you may have regarding it's contents will be answered in the coming days and weeks. This is our story, our history, our future, our now. Find the key, unlock the history. This is Origins."

While very few details have been released thus far, fans are encouraged to keep a close eye on Alesana’s social media pages in the coming days to discover what is going to be included with Origins. This limited edition collection will be available to purchase via the Revival Recordings website this Black Friday.

Raleigh-based rock band Alesana have released a video announcing a new project and are seeking fan involvement. The video, which features Alesana vocalist Shawn Milke, doesn’t reveal all the details about the new forthcoming project but asks fans to send a thirty second clip of themselves doing something creative and having a positive message. In the same vein of Alesana's mantra, "PMA", he also adds for fans to send a photo, along with their video, of them holding up a sign with the words, “I say farewell to giving up,” in their native language.

About the project, Shawn said, “This new project we are embarking on is very dear to us. We want to show our fans how much they mean to us in a unique and special way. These last 13 years of getting to be Alesana would not be possible without the love, support, and positivity of our amazing army. Alesana is not just the six of us in the band; it is all of you as well. Hopefully when this project is done, we will have been able to show you at least a small bit of gratitude for how appreciative and thankful we are for your passion and loyalty."

To be involved, fans are asked to either upload their video to their YouTube channel unlisted or to their google drive and send the link to info@revivalrecs.com. The deadline for submissions is October 20th. Fans are encouraged to participate and be a part of something special. For all the details, including filming instructions, you can view the video HERE.

Alesana will be releasing their first ever book titled "Annabel" centered around their past three albums. This short story to expand into other types of media if the chance presents itself.Guitarist/vocalist Shawn Mike discusses this book, what it entails and the plans for the future.

1. Why did you think that now would be the perfect time to go and write and release a book based upon the trilogy found within the three full-length albums, you have released?

Shawn: It wasn't really about this being the perfect time.  The book has been getting written, in some capacity, for the better part of the last six years. It just all happened to come together and click into place this summer.

2. Who is the character "Annabel" is it just a character or based off a real life person?

Shawn: She is a made up character inspired by the title character of the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe.

3. You released the first chapter in audio form, will the entire book be made into an audio book, or just the first chapter?

Shawn: For right now it will just be the first chapter.  The book is over 200 pages long so that would be quite the venture to tackle.  There are some other cool things I'd like to do with the story but only time will tell.

4. Do you see this book to branch out into any other types of media besides music and literature?

Shawn: Ideally, yes.  I would love to see it turned into a graphic novel and/or short film.

5. Where does the band Alesana exactly fit into this "Annabel" story.

Shawn: In a literal sense I'd have to say nowhere.  It is work of fiction created by Dennis and I and we have been lucky enough to write records inspired by the story.  We have a wonderful fan base who has allowed us to keep taking the story and the lure further and further.

6. Will this be the only book to be made or will it have a series of books to follow it?

Shawn: You never know.  I definitely left the ending of the story in a place that could allow for sequels.  That will really be up to the fans and how badly they want more.  I'm definitely open to the idea of taking it further.

7. When it comes down to the three albums, this story is based off of, which songs in particular out of those releases, would you say tell the story the best?

Shawn: They all do.  Every single song is a part of the story.  They are like chapters.  Without each one, the story does not exist.

8. The story is told throughout this trilogy, will the story end within this trilogy of sorts, or do you see it to continue in another trilogy set?

Shawn: That really depends on whether or not the story continues.  If the demand is there and the material we create for it is strong then I could definitely see another record being a part of the same universe.

9. How does this book, bring the whole trilogy, together into one aspect?

Shawn: It tells the whole story.  The stories that accompanied the albums, and the parts of the story that the albums told, were just excerpts of a much larger story.  The book brings it all into one place and ties it all together by introducing important, new characters and revealing plot points and twists that turn the story upside down.

10. Would you ever consider performing all three albums back to back, in telling this story?

Shawn: That would be challenging but a dream come true for sure.  You never know, maybe one day we will pull it off.

11. Out of everything that we have seen come from this story, have we actually seen Annabel?

Shawn: Her character is present throughout the entire story.  Annabel is everywhere.

12. Where can you find and purchase this book, will it be made available at shows, book shops or is it an online only item?

Shawn: For now you can get your copy at theannabeltrilogy.com or alesana.merchnow.com.  We will be bringing copies on the road and, if it sees enough success, I will try to get it published and into stores.

13. What does the future have in-store for Alesana?

Shawn: We have a few tricks left up our sleeves.  Stay tuned.

14. How about the plans between now and the rest of this year?

Shawn: We are doing a ten year anniversary tour for On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax as well as performing at Knotfest in Mexico with Slipknot, Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, and more!

15. Is that your final answer?

Shawn: Never.

Pop-metal band Alesana has announced that they will release a book entitled "Annabel" on August 31st. The short novel will tell the story that the band's three concept albums are based around. Vocalist/guitarist Shawn Milke and his sister Melissa narrated a reading of the first chapter, and director Jason Ligon turned it into a lyric video that premiered on Tattoo.com. Check it out HERE.

"This story has been a work in progress for nearly seven years," says Milke. "It began when Dennis and I decided to tell our own story through the albums of Alesana. It eventually grew into an album trilogy and now, finally, a short novel. Creating this abstract universe and telling the story of Annabel has been, in every way possible, both challenging and rewarding. It is an accomplishment that still stuns me to this day. Thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey."

Pre-order "Annabel" and you will also receive a special edition of the Alesana album Confessions. The special edition includes the single "Fatima Rusalka" which has previously only been released digitally as a single (never on a CD) and one brand new unreleased song. Place your order HERE.
