YOSHIKI will continue his Russian promotional tour with a second We Are X screening and Q&A in St. Petersburg on January 31, his first-ever public appearance in that city.

X JAPAN leader YOSHIKI returned to Paris, France, on October 24th for his final day of a marathon tour promoting the European premiere of award-winning documentary, We Are X.

YOSHIKI will immediately return to Japan to appear at the HALLOWEEN PARTY 2017 concert event at Makuhari Messe on October 29th presented by VAMPS. Next week, on November 3rd, YOSHIKI CHANNEL (ranked first among artist channels on Japan’s largest video site “NicoNico”) will broadcast a visit to the new YOSHIKIMONO exhibition and present a guest performance from Wagakki Band.

YOSHIKI began the We Are X European promotion tour on October 12th in Berlin, Germany, traveling to 11 cities in 10 countries in just under 2 weeks. Including multiple Q&A sessions with fans at sold-out screenings, YOSHIKI maintained an intensely packed daily schedule totaling over 130 interviews for international television, web, and print media.

Still recovering from his surgery months ago, YOSHIKI followed doctor’s orders and had to cancel his Iceland premiere appearance to avoid further strain from overworking. Expressing his regret for the last-minute cancellation, YOSHIKI sent hundreds of signed photos to his fans who had gathered to see him in Iceland, showing his appreciation for their support.

After a few days rest, YOSHIKI returned to Paris as scheduled to complete the Europe tour, broadcasting on YOSHIKI CHANNEL and resuming his full interview schedule, even making appearances on the talk and weather segments of France’s most famous TV channel “TF1.”

Following YOSHIKI’s television appearance, it was announced that over 50 theaters in Paris alone will screen We Are X as a result of YOSHIKI’s promotional efforts.

“At the beginning of my career, I traveled around Japan for promotion, and now I’m doing the same thing around the world. I’m really beginning to understand how big this world is,” YOSHIKI said as he completed his final day of European tour. “I’m going to work hard to get X JAPAN back on stage again.” YOSHIKI is currently finalizing X JAPAN’s first studio album in over 21 years. “It’s almost finished, except for a few guest artists tracks,” he assured interviewers. “Get ready for it.”

PIKOTARO appeared on Niconico Douga’s #1 subscribers of artist channel, YOSHIKI CHANNEL’s 2nd Year Anniversary!

Speaking of YOSHIKI, he’s world widely known as member of the band X JAPAN, who have achieved showcases at world’s top 3 holy venues – Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, and Wembley Arena.  Lately, he was much-talked-about as the first Japanese man to be featured on the cover of VOGUE magazine.  PIKOTARO was requested by this international star to collaborate “PPAP” and X JAPAN’s “Forever Love” as an ad-lib during the show.  Amazingly, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful PPAP ever presented.

PPAP x Forever Love Collaboration:

https://youtu.be/PowMGIkZMHY

During the second half of the show, PIKOTARO presented his latest anime, “PIKOTARO’s LULLABY LALA BY”  and Japanese festival & dance music fusion track, “Love & Peace ONDO.”  Various positive reactions of the anime arouse from the fans, and YOSHIKI also praised PIKOTARO’s talent commenting, “Your idea about the music and anime are both simply amazing!!”

“PIKOTARO’s LULLABY LALA BY”

"Love & Peace ONDO"

https://youtu.be/RZYCYM1aWYY

* ONDO = dance song

This is PIKOTARO's new idea of "Uhhh-ing" Japanese traditional dance, Bon Dance, and dance music... "Bon-Dance Music.”  PIKOTARO also fused Robot Dance, choreographed by worldwide famous animation dancer, Koutei Sennin.  His dance team, Time Machine, is known for catching the world’s attention when they won the first Golden Buzzer in the history of Asia’s Got Talent in 2015.

PIKOTARO would like to spread the Japanese traditional culture worldwide through this new fusion of Robot Dance + Obon Dance = "Robon-Dance"

As you may have noticed, the ‘cat’ headphones PIKOTARO is wearing is Ariana Grande’s model!  He admires Ariana so much that he personally purchased during his US visitJ.

On October 9, 2017, YOSHIKI donated $100,000.00 to help get immediate aid to hurricane victims in the United States and its territories. YOSHIKI delivered the check in New York to MusiCares®, a charity of the Recording Academy™ via Jennifer Leff, LCSW Senior Director, Health & Human Services. The donation will be funded immediately to MusiCares’s current hurricane relief efforts through Yoshiki Foundation America 501(c)(3). 100% of all donations to Musicares go directly to people in need.

“I’m from Japan but I live in America,” YOSHIKI said. “When Japan got hit by the Tsunami Earthquake in 2011, the people of America supported Japan. I was really moved by that, so I’d like to keep supporting America as much as I can. My heart goes out to all those who are affected.”

The donation ceremony followed a Q&A with YOSHIKI and a special screening of WE ARE X, the award-winning documentary about X JAPAN — one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history — at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City.

WE ARE X has been released in a limited edition DVD and Vinyl soundtrack bundle now available worldwide through PledgeMusic: https://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/wearex.

YOSHIKI is currently touring 10 countries in Europe for WE ARE X theatrical premieres.

Passion Pictures and X Japan have announced that the critically acclaimed film WE ARE X about Japan’s most successful rock band of all time will be released theatrically across Europe this October.

The film’s chart-topping soundtrack which boasts an impressive selection of X Japan’s back catalog and the newly-released theme song, “La Venus”, is currently available through Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings (a division of Sony Music Entertainment).

Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Stephen Kijak (Stones in Exile, Scott Walker: 30 Century Man), and produced by the Oscar-winning production team behind Searching for Sugar Man, WE ARE X is an astonishingly intimate portrait of a deeply haunted, but truly unstoppable virtuoso and the music that has enthralled legions of the world’s most devoted fans. It was officially selected for the Sundance Film Festival, SXSW and the BFI London Film Festival, winning multiple awards and critical praise from New York Times, MTV UK, Classic Rock Magazine, and many more.

Hailed as “The most dramatic rock story you’ve never heard” by MTV UK, WE ARE X is a transcendent and beautifully shot rock & roll story about the most successful rock band in Japanese history, X JAPAN. They’ve sold over 30 million albums, singles and videos combined, sold out Japan’s 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome a record 18 times, and played to tens of thousands of fans outside of Japan. Under the enigmatic direction of YOSHIKI — composer, classically-trained pianist, drummer, and the creative force behind the group —- X JAPAN has captivated a wide range of admirers as Sir George Martin, KISS, Stan Lee and the Japanese Emperor, while pioneering a spectacle-driven style of visual rock called “Visual Kei”, a one-of-a-kind cultural phenomenon.

Yoshiki’s significance in Japan is illustrated on the October cover of Vogue Japan. He is the first Japanese male ever selected for the cover in the magazine’s 18-year history.

Yoshiki will be travelling across select territories in Europe in October 2017 to promote the film. Yoshiki says, “I am very excited to come to Europe this October and bring the extraordinary story of X Japan to new and old fans alike. This was a difficult film for us to make but it’s a story we believe needed to be told. I can’t wait for Europe to finally see the film and to meet our European fans.”

“I Can Only Live by Moving Forward. I Want a Goal to Live” - X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 WE ARE X CONFIRMED!

During a press conference held in Tokyo on June 9th, X Japan members Toshl, Pata, and Heath, along with host Udo Artists, Inc., announced that the “X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 WE ARE X” concerts in Japan at Osaka-jo Hall (July 11 and 12) and Yokohama Arena (July 14, 15, 16, and 17) will be performed as acoustic concerts. The title of the tour will be changed to “X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 WE ARE X Acoustic Special Miracle 6 DAYS”.

Although Yoshiki successfully underwent cervical artificial disk replacement surgery and has already started the rehabilitation process, doctors cannot say with certainty that he will be able to drum like he used to. Since doctors have instructed him to stay away from vigorous exercise for at least 6 months, he cannot play the drums for the time being. However, since Yoshiki himself does not want these scheduled concerts to be canceled due to his surgery, he asked whether there would be any way to make the concerts happen, and the band members sided with him when he reached out.

X Japan members explained during today’s press conference that these performances will happen as “acoustic” concerts with Yoshiki only playing the piano, a decision based on Yoshiki’s rehabilitation schedule, projected recovery timeframe, advice from doctors, and his current state, after multiple discussions with promoters and WME, Yoshiki’s U.S. agency.

During the conference, there was also a phone call from Yoshiki, who is currently going through recovery in Los Angeles. After conveying his message, saying “I want to move forward. I’d love to be given a chance to do the shows”, Yoshiki also revealed, in response to the emcee’s question, that the “EVENING WITH YOSHIKI 2017 IN NAGOYA & OSAKA & TOKYO JAPAN” premium dinner shows scheduled for this summer will also happen.

Regarding his decision to go on with these performances in Japan, Yoshiki had already made up his mind prior to the procedure that he will make the tour his goal to overcome the surgery. The fact that fans from around the world were so concerned for Yoshiki was such a blessing, however, he stated “I want to accomplish this goal I promised to myself by any means.” In other words, the goal of doing this tour helped him overcome his surgery. His message implied that, even though there are concerns for his physical ability, he is ready to address the challenge to make the July shows a success.

Based on what we know about Yoshiki’s current state after surgery, we cannot say that his rehabilitation, which is very painful, is going smoothly. Shortly after surgery, he was not able to walk on his own, and even breathing normally was difficult. This is why he became worried if his fingers would move normally and headed to his recording studio after getting out of the hospital. Currently, he is feeling numb from his mouth to neck, and a pain that feels like electricity is running through his left arm. Under doctor’s supervision, Yoshiki has been advised to “move around as much as possible” and he is following his doctor’s instructions in order to get himself ready for the upcoming shows.

26 years ago, X Japan performed a single acoustic show in 1991, when the band was called “X”. During the show titled “Silent X”, Yoshiki did not drum and the band members came on stage with their acoustic guitars. Their long-time fans called it the “X never to be seen again”.

Yoshiki’s surgery struck people as a shocking news, but because it has transpired, a legendary concert will come to life which people thought would never happen again. The July concerts may very well be called “Elegant X Japan”, which has evolved from “Silent X”, something beyond the realm of acoustic, with beautiful strings, that people can indeed call a “Miracle Night” as the title reads.

Yoshiki said before the closing of the press conference, “I am very sorry to the fans who have worried for me. As long as I stand on stage, I want to inspire people.”

Statement from Udo Artists, Inc.
As this X Japan tour of Japan was flooded with demand, all performances were sold out immediately. We unfortunately caused concern for many fans and related companies due to the emergency surgery on Yoshiki, the leader, drummer, and pianist, but we sincerely appreciate the countless words of encouragement and support from inside and outside Japan. Since the content of the performances will be changed from the original plans to an acoustic format, with the addition of strings and other aspects as announced today, we will be providing refunds to those who desire one. Refunds will be processed through the ticketing agency you used. Please visit the Udo Artists, Inc. homepage for details.

Toshl Statement:
We will support Yoshiki with everything we have, and we will fight with him. For the upcoming shows, I want to share the X Japan that an audience can only see in a moment like this and be inspired together.

PATA Statement:
I’m sure I’ll see you soon, Yoshiki, but good luck! I’m looking forward to the July shows.

HEATH Statement:
The July shows will be our first acoustic concerts. We will do out best to make it an inspiring evening. We appreciate your support.

SUGIZO Statement:
Under the circumstances, I will do my best. I will give my heart and soul under any situation. That is my responsibility.

Japan has got to be one of the most, recognizable places on the planet. How so exactly? Well it's known for its culture for one, as well as releasing a series of films, television programming, including widely popular, anime, and manga, plus of course the music scene, being extremely noticeable. Coming out of its music division would have to be from Chiba, Japan. Having formed in 1982, drummer Yoshiki and lead vocalist Toshi, came together to form a band that would be called by all as X Japan. The style would be power/speed metal, from that point onward, the band would go through the struggles and strengths as any other band would face.

Thus, the years would pass and so would the band, and here we are with them releasing a documentary film titled "We Are X" and a soundtrack for said film, using the same title. That said, the soundtrack takes songs from their extensive career and releases, such as, "The Last Live", "X Japan Returns", and "Dahlia Tour Final" as well as unplugged material and acoustic performances of such songs as "La Vensus" and "Without You". The soundtrack itself, features 14-tracks, track 1 and 14 being exclusive to the soundtrack itself. Track 1 titled "La Vensus" is one of the acoustic styled tracks off this release, it's acoustic version being very breath taking as it were, really embracing the music and essence that is X Japan, let alone their career span. While track 14 "Without You" also an acoustic unplugged track, concludes the album, is another one of those songs, by X Japan that just moves you, it brings their music to life, really capturing their abilities as musicians, even though it has been quite some time, they are still a band that stands out above all the rest, even from Japan itself.

The soundtrack does include other tracks that go along the same lines as the opener and closer. It would have to include such as "Crucify My Love", "Standing Sex", "Tears", and "Endless Rain". The rest of the soundtrack, is good material, solid in fact, but these tracks in particular, just captive the music a whole lot more, really catching onto the X Japan material. The music while it's been out forever it seems, is still powerful, solid, and well rounded. It sounds rather brand new, even though it's old works, that's how music should be created, it is art, that feels new, even though it is old. It brings out that creativeness that just never goes away, if that makes sense.

X Japan's "We Are X" soundtrack is one of those releases that really goes well with the film it is accompanying. X Japan have shown to their fan base that has been there from the start, to others who are just coming in, that we are X, and we are here to stay, because X Japan is us, X Japan is life.

The soundtrack for the film WE ARE X -- the critically acclaimed music documentary about X JAPAN -- will be released worldwide on March 3, 2017, via Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) and is available for pre-order now at Amazon. http://bit.ly/WeAreX_CD

Hailed as “fascinating” by the New York Times, WE ARE X is a transcendent and beautifully shot rock & roll story about the most successful rock band in Japanese history, X JAPAN. They’ve sold over 30 million albums, singles and videos combined; sold out Japan’s 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome a record 18 times; and played to tens of thousands of fans outside of Japan. Under the enigmatic direction of YOSHIKI -- composer, classically-trained pianist, drummer and the creative force behind the group -- X JAPAN has captivated a wide range of admirers as Sir George Martin, KISS, Stan Lee, and the Japanese Emperor-while pioneering a spectacle-driven style of rock music called Visual Kei, a one-of-a-kind cultural phenomenon.

In late 2016, WE ARE X was released to theaters across America after winning multiple awards at the Sundance and SXSW Film Festivals. Directed by acclaimed documentarian Stephen Kijak (Stones in Exile, Scott Walker: 30 Century Man), and produced by the Oscar-winning production team  behind  Searching for Sugar Man, WE ARE X is an astonishingly intimate portrait of a deeply haunted -- but truly unstoppable -- virtuoso and the music that has enthralled legions of the world's most devoted fans.

Up next, X JAPAN -- YOSHIKI/drums, piano; TOSHI/vocals; PATA/guitar; HEATH/bass; and SUGIZO/guitar, violin -- will perform their first major show of 2017 on #XDAY, Saturday, March 4 at SSE Arena, Wembley in London. Later in March, the WE ARE X film will premiere in London and officially open in theaters across the U.K. The film continues to expand internationally in new cities every week; and will arrive on Blu-Ray™, DVD and Digital HD on April 25 from Magnolia Home Entertainment under the Magnet label in the U.S., Bermuda and Bahamas

“YOSHIKI Classical Special with Orchestra - HONG KONG”, originally scheduled to take place at AsiaWorld-Expo Arena on Thursday, December 29th, was cancelled due to an oversight by Puffin Entertainment, one of Hong Kong’s major local promoters, in applying for the entertainment license necessary to perform the show. Immediately following the cancellation announcement, Yoshiki himself negotiated with the venue and held a press conference shortly after.

Since the entertainment license for paid concerts takes weeks to complete, Yoshiki proposed that the concert would take place the next day (December 30th) free of charge, and that all 5,000 tickets purchased will be refunded as compensation not only to the people who came to the show from Hong Kong but also to those who traveled internationally to see the performance. Yoshiki also expressed his sympathy towards the promoter by saying it wasn’t an intentional mistake and that he really appreciated the promoter’s hard work. The ticket price for the concert ranged from HK $580-1280 (appx. $75-165 USD).

Since over 6,000 people showed up to the complimentary concert, the stage plan had to be adjusted accordingly. It was Yoshiki’s idea to allow an additional guest per each concert ticket to make up for all the trouble this incident had caused his fans. The audience included many VIPS in attendance, such as celebrities and high-ranking government officials, all offering words of praise after the concert. Yoshiki performed each and every song that was scheduled for the previous day’s show. In addition, when Yoshiki and the orchestra performed a surprise song “Hoi Fut Tin Hung”, a famous hit by Hong Kong’s popular band “Beyond”, the audience’s applause and tears reached a climax. The public concert ended on an emotional note, with a huge chorus by the entire audience singing “Endless Rain”.

Yoshiki will perform “YOSHIKI CLASSICAL SPECIAL feat. Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra” at Carnegie Hall in New York City, January 12th and 13th, 2017.
