Coat Check Girl Release Reimagining of Linkin Park's "Crawling"
Almost 17 years to the day since it was released as a single, LA-based quartet Coat Check Girl have shared their reimagined cover of Linkin Park's smash hit "Crawling." The alt-rockers took the Grammy winning track and gave it a stripped down indie makeover, like they were getting the song ready for a date with the cute emo kid at school. The result is contemplative and suspenseful, literally slowing the track down to a "crawl" and showing a more vulnerable side to the lyrics.
"Linkin Park was one of my first music loves and I have always looked back at them for inspiration (I even have a Hybrid Theory tattoo on my forearm)," says vocalist Andre Rodriguez. "I had the chance to meet all of them and from the bottom of my heart, I have to say that I have never met more down-to-earth people in my life, so when I heard the news about Chester I was devastated. I felt like I lost a mentor, so I proposed to the band to play a Linkin Park song in our live shows in honor of him. We picked 'Crawling' because the lyrics are unbelievably powerful. The melodies are beautiful, so we didn't really have to think about it too much. One day I started messing around with the chords and we all agreed that, that was the song we were going to cover."Check it HERE.
Coat Check Girl Release New Single "Awake"
Los Angeles-based alt-rockers Coat Check Girl are back with their latest offering "Awake." Ushered by a bombastic horn section, the track's easy-to-move-to vibe has an energy that stays high, all the way up until the last note of guitarist Nate Rich's harmonic solo.
"'Awake' is one of those songs that just happened," says vocalist Andre Rodriguez. "I was just messing around with the guitar one day and the main bass line just popped in my head. That inspired the entire song, we decided to structure the whole thing based on it, and once we had the full body of the song, Nate wrote one of my favorite solos ever."

Coat Check Girl Release New Single and Video for "Audience of None"
Upon hearing the name Coat Check Girl, you may think of Jayma Mays' character on that particular episode of How I Met Your Mother, but starting today you may also think of infectious, alt-rock music with a ska tinge. The Los Angeles band has released a music video for their new single "Audience of None," produced by Latin Grammy Award winning producer Rodolfo "Rudy" Pagliuca. Although the polished track has an upbeat vibe, vocalist Andre Rodriguez says the lyrics are a bit of a contrast.
"This is the most personal song I have ever written," says Rodriguez. "It was written about suicide and depression. The title 'Audience of None' refers to the fact that sometimes, for some people, no one's there listening even when they're screaming for help."
A dreamy synth arrangement (provided by Chapis Lasca) gives the bouncy track a bit of grounding, while Rodriguez hammers away at the hook with an almost Rob Thomas flair. "Audience of None" is available now on iTunes and Spotify.
