AFI's duo frontman vocalist Davey Havok and guitarist Jade Puget have made yet another side project together the other was Blaqk Audio now they have taken that aspect turning it upside down, to create a whole new act called XTRMST. It's a hardcore straight edge group that will be releasing their self-titled debut album via Dim Mak Records, Steve Aoki's label on November 18th.

"Jade and I have been talking about starting a straight edge hardcore band for years," says Havok. "We started writing and recording in early 2012 and chose the name XTRMST because it expresses the messages represented on the record. The straight edge movement is not one of moderation. It's based in undeniable objective truths."

Puget adds, "The straight edge philosophy is something that Davey and I gravitated towards at a young age, drawn by concepts and ideals that seem almost foreign in modern society. Like much of the other subcultures we were a part of growing up, it put us at odds with 99% of the people around us, which was something we embraced. Being sXe for over 20 years and being musicians, it seemed natural that this crucial ideology would find a musical expression."

AFI's "Burials" is a step up yet down if that makes sense it steps down returning to the time of 2006's "Decemberunderground" having that gloomy dark sense to it, while the step up portion is more modern. This time around the songs provide that gloomy dark sense having "I Hope You Suffer", "17 Crimes", "Heart Stops", "The Embrace", and "The Face Beneath The Waves", bring this effect, allowing the vocal chords and instruments to work together on a number of levels, instruments being upbeat and catchy very modern driven, while the vocal style just slides right in, fitting in without a problem. This album is what the title suggests it "Burials" provides again that gloomy dark sense, making it be just that from start to finish. This is truly a bring back to that "Decemberunderground" to even "Sing The Sorrow" era making those aware that AFI has still got the kicks in delivering the music that they so want to make possible.

AFI will release its ninth studio album, Burials, on October 22nd. They will also be embarking on a headlining tour this fall with Touché Amoré. Check out the dates below!

Their upcoming LP will be the bands ninth studio album. With a sneak peak at their newly released single “I Hope You Suffer,” the work will surely bring the attention of anticipating fans.

In true AFI fashion, the song typically starts out mysterious with some intricate musical elaboration’s before turning it over to the seductive vocals of singer Davey Havok. Keeping you on your toes, the single features an attractive chorus outlined with hardcore guitar riffs tightly packaged on top of a steady drum rhythm. The musicality of the piece gives the audience plenty of means to take the come back of AFI seriously.

With several hits behind them, it is only expected that AFI return with a vengeance after several years of no new music from the illustrious band. Their upcoming ninth studio album via Republic Records is called "Burials" due out this fall.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Republic family for the release of our ninth record. We’ve spent over two years realizing this album and could not be more excited to share it with all.” Havok stated in a recent press release.

Stay tuned for more news featuring AFI. The band can be seen at this years Riot Festival in Chicago and Denver in September. Their sound will also be featured in the upcoming film The Mortal Instruments which is set for release August 21st.
