GRAMMY® Award-winning, acclaimed alternative rock pioneers The Smashing Pumpkins have announced the "Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour", their first tour in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha. Produced by Live Nation, the 36-city tour will kick off in Glendale, AZ on July 12, 2018 and visit North American arenas throughout the summer.

"Some 30 years ago, as The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my Father's house. And so it's magic to me that we're able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we've made together," shared Corgan.

The band broke news of the tour this morning with a dramatic video featuring original Siamese Dream album cover stars Ali Laenger and LySandra Roberts. Watch the clip HERE.

The monumental "Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour", which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the band's formation, will highlight music from the group's inception through 2000, and will exclusively feature material from their groundbreaking debut Gish through Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and Machina. Longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will also take part, as the band moves to a three guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums.

"This show and staging will be unlike any we've ever done, and will feature a set unlike any we've ever played. For if this is a chance at a new beginning, we plan on ushering it in with a real bang," added Corgan.

“My approach was to look at the album like a mix tape. It was as if I was going to make a mix tape for a friend to say, `Hey, check out this other stuff I did with my band that’s not on the albums.’ I didn’t feel as if it had to work as a great album, but it had to work as a good mix tape.” --Billy Corgan, 2012, on the PISCES ISCARIOT reissue.

EMI Music’s extensive reissue campaign honoring the legacy of THE SMASHING PUMPKINS continues July 17 in North America and July 16 internationally.  That’s when the iconic alternative band’s third album PISCES ISCARIOT--1994’s platinum-certified disc that reached #4 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart--receives the fully remastered treatment for the first time. This follows last year’s acclaimed reissues of the band’s groundbreaking first two albums, Gish (1991) and Siamese Dream (1993).

“A collection of odds and orphans from the dusky realms of Pumpkinland” is how PUMPKINS founding member BILLY CORGAN describes PISCES ISCARIOT in the liner notes penned by David Wild. “Pisces Iscariot was the little mix tape that went platinum,” writes Wild. “This unlikely smash album that some came to mistake for the Pumpkins’ third studio effort even yielded a hit single--another wonderfully odd moment in the landslide that was the intense early success story of Smashing Pumpkins.”

Featuring the band’s take on the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks song “Landslide” which reached #3 on Modern Rock Tracks chart, PISCES ISCARIOT is being released in multiple configurations: Deluxe Physical Album--which comes with a live DVD and the first-ever PUMPKINS demo reproduced on cassette--Deluxe Digital, Standard Physical, Digital and 180G Vinyl. The bonus content and special features were curated from the band’s archives by CORGAN, and have been painstakingly remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig.   *See all track listings below.

With the full support and guidance from THE SMASHING PUMPKINS--who’ve created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, selling over 30 million albums--EMI’s global catalog reissue campaign will last through 2013; it will encompass all the band’s albums and B-sides from 1991-2000, with other release dates to be announced.  The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.

As THE SMASHING PUMPKINS get the fully remastered treatment via these reissues, the band is excited to be moving forward by creating new music.  On June 19, the band released OCEANIA, via Martha’s Music/EMI Label Services/Caroline Distribution. Marking THE SMASHING PUMPKINS’ 7th studio record, it is “an album within an album,” part of their 44-song work-in-progress TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE.  OCEANIA was recorded at the group’s studio in Chicago with CORGAN’s bandmates: guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and bassist/vocalist NICOLE FIORENTINO.

OCEANIA is the forthcoming album by THE SMASHING PUMPKINS.  Intended to recapture the album experience, all 13 songs on OCEANIA will be premiered simultaneously to fans, radio, press and the online world. Forgoing the standard industry launch, the group purposely planned no single or video to be released prior to the full album.

Starting now, OCEANIA will be streamed for free in its entirety for one week exclusively on the iTunes Store (http://www.itunes.com/). Fans will be able to pre-order the album all week leading up to the June 19 in-store date. OCEANIA was specially mastered to optimize digital sound quality for iTunes Store customers. The release comes via the band’s own Martha’s Music/EMI Label Services/Caroline Distribution. Listen to OCEANIA: www.iTunes.com/SmashingPumpkins

Having his own label through EMI afforded PUMPKINS leader BILLY CORGAN the opportunity to try something different. It is a launch scenario that goes against industry standards by allowing the album to be heard as it was meant to be. The group’s release plan was in no way intended to slight radio stations, video channels, press or online outlets. Instead, it represents the artistic vision of a band who, says CORGAN, “was dead set on making an album where every song was just as valuable as any other, ignoring the typical claptrap you hear about needing a single.  The only way to make the case that every song on Oceania is worth hearing is to put your heart into the sequence as a cohesive whole.”

OCEANIA was recorded at the group’s studio in Chicago with CORGAN’s bandmates: guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and bassist/vocalist NICOLE FIORENTINO.  The powerful 13-song collection (see track listing below) was produced by Corgan and Bjorn Thorsrud and mixed by David Bottrill (Muse, Tool, King Crimson, etc).  Marking THE SMASHING PUMPKINS’ 7th studio record, it is “an album within an album,” part of their 44-song work-in-progress TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE.

“I've been adamant in stressing that as a group, first and foremost, we are here to make new music together,” says CORGAN. “I'm proud to say that on Oceania I feel we've cut our own path forward. Jeff, Mike, and Nicole have all made significant contributions to the tone and texture of Oceania, which is an album that is unlike any I've ever made. Yet at the same time I believe it upholds the same musical values I've always pushed for with The Pumpkins, be they progressive, emotional, epic, or restless.”
