Knocked Loose take it to a whole other level on their wild new single “Suffocate”.  Bludgeoning blastbeats and chaotic fury are matched with a dance-y, syncopated groove with the most concussive reggaeton rhythm you’ve ever heard. The catalyst -- Grammy nominated pop-meets-metal trailblazer, Poppy, who reached out to frontman and vocalist Bryan Garris to propose a team-up. “I am a huge fan of Knocked Loose and honored to be on this one,” tells Poppy.

The collaboration inspired the band to venture into uncharted realms, which finds Garris and Poppy trading verses about, as Garris puts it, “someone stabbing you in the back.” “It was so fun because her voice allowed us to expand our palette and do some weird, off-the-wall things that we maybe wouldn't do in another song,” guitarist Isaac Hale says of the track. “We felt that because we had Poppy’s voice involved, it allowed us to kind of push the boundaries of what we thought was feasible.”

KNOTFEST Iowa is upon us. Today the globally renowned event has revealed its 2024 lineup including the hometown return of Slipknot, the festival’s headliner and founders.  With a unique set drawing heavily from their 1999 debut, Slipknot will celebrate 25 years of the self-titled album along with their fans, in the band’s birthplace of Iowa.

Slipknot are bigger than ever.  Those who witnessed those early days could justifiably have thought the band would never last this long - most artists that debut with such a burning intensity and a complete disregard for the existing paradigm, cannot last.  But Slipknot’s unapologetic ferocity spoke to an entire generation, and quicker than anyone outside the band expected, they were also speaking FOR that generation.  Now generations in, Slipknot’s message, songs and art resonate even more powerfully.  This is where it all began.

This singular moment in Slipknot history will be amplified with the event’s stacked lineup – Till Lindemann from Rammstein, Kentucky’s vibrant hardcore/metal forerunners Knocked Loose, metalcore influencers Hatebreed and Poison The Well, heavy metal icons GWAR, Des Moines natives Vended, in addition to Dying Wish, Zulu, Twin Temple, Holy Wars, Swollen Teeth and Spine & Dose.

Knotfest Iowa 2024 takes over Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, September 21. This year’s event will be held at Waterworks Park, which is adjacent to downtown Des Moines and where Slipknot played in 2000 on the legendary Tattoo the Earth tour.

Knotfest Iowa is thrilled to announce it will debut a revamped Knotfest Museum celebrating Slipknot’s 25 year career. A staple at Knotfests all over the world, the ante is upped this year – the Museum Experience will feature a jaw-dropping collection of artifacts from the band’s history, making this a can’t miss opportunity for fans. Knocked Loose unleash their seething, experimental new single “Don’t Reach For Me,” a track that combines the band’s signature frenzied attack with deliberate catchiness and exhilarating sonic variety. After one listen, the song’s refrain — “I dream of a cleansing wave,” roared out by frontman Bryan Garris in his patented piercing, rueful bark — loops in the listener’s mind like a prime earworm, setting the stage for future live shout-alongs. Lyrically, Garris says, the track “may be the meanest song I’ve ever written,” a seismic takedown of “someone who tried their hardest to come into my life and mess with two out of the three closest people I have.” “Don’t Reach For Me” is available today alongside an arresting video directed and produced by Max Moore. On You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, Knocked Loose have honed in on a diverse, cohesive and savagely aggressive album that sums up the massive strides they’ve taken during their decade as a band, and asserts their boundless potential going forward. Internally, there was the need to challenge themselves as songwriters while retaining the merciless intensity and unflinching honesty that have always been their calling cards. Externally, there was a whole new set of eyes on the hard-touring Louisville quintet, following a banner year on the road, during which they’d brought their underground-seasoned sound to some of the world’s biggest stages.

From the start, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To plunges listeners into a cauldron of mental and spiritual anguish. But the album’s title contains a note of reassurance amid the turmoil. The phrase originates from an experience that frontman Bryan Garris, who suffers from what he calls a “borderline phobia of flying,” had during a particularly trying flight. As he battled his nerves during takeoff, the vocalist found himself talking to a woman seated next to him. When he confided in her about his anxiety, she assured, “You won’t go before you’re supposed to.”

But glossing over negative emotions isn’t what Knocked Loose are about. The new songs find them plumbing through new depths of loathing — directed both inward and outward. Their raging lead single “Blinding Faith” skillfully wields whiplash tempo changes in service of a scathing indictment of religious groupthink, and the hypocrisy that can sometimes accompany an outwardly pious life.

“It was just hilarious how many people showed up to church that I knew were rude, horrible, selfish people,” guitarist Isaac Hale reflects of attending church with his mother in his younger years. “They knew that it made them seem like a better person — or if they said the words, it would redeem them of any negative quality just because they showed face.”

Across 10 tracks and 27 gripping minutes, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To leans into Knocked Loose’s most extreme impulses, from blastbeat-driven fury, chaotic turbulence and seismic breakdowns, while seasoning the mix with ear-catching auxiliary percussion, evocative samples and shout-along hooks, all interwoven to perfection by Grammy-nominated, pop-savy producer Drew “WZRD BLD” Fulk.

You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is filled with boundary-pushing textures and samples the band has collected over the years. On “Suffocate,” Garris teams up with pop-meets-metal trailblazer Poppy, for an effort that contrasts an oppressive heaviness befitting the title with a dance-y, syncopated groove and the most concussive reggaeton rhythm you’ve ever heard. Samples of what sounds like meditative singing bowls open the album to “Take Me Home,” with its spoken-word intro, ear-catching auxiliary percussion and brief yet evocative concluding country-song snippet. Elements like these only make the breakneck blur of a track like “Moss Covers All,” a song that Garris says deals with his ever-present longing for the comfort of home, feel that much more urgent.

“On this album, we go the fastest we've ever gone; we go the scariest we've ever gone. We also go the catchiest and the most melodic that we've ever gone, and that's the point,” Hale says. “Instead of branching off into a specific direction, we want to encompass ALL directions.”

There’s no ceiling for hardcore in 2024 — even an outfit as uncompromising as Knocked Loose can turn up in mainstream-adjacent spaces and win over new fans (see 2023’s viral Coachella and Bonnaroo sets). But there’s a center to what they do that will never change: uncompromising heaviness, both sonically and thematically. What is evolving is their drive to find new ways to convey that heaviness, and add tasteful variety that only highlights their undiminished ferocity. Everywhere Knocked Loose have been is here on this record — but so is everywhere they may yet go.

Knocked Loose are currently wrapping a sold out EU/UK run and hit the road again late April on a headlining North American tour. The run hits both coasts and includes two sold out nights in New York City at Brooklyn Steel and Terminal 5 plus sold out shows at Austin’s Stubb's Amphitheater, The Shrine in Los Angeles and more. Knocked Loose strike again with their visionary new Upon Loss singles – “Deep in the Willow” / “Everything is Quiet Now” - which are streaming now alongside its video directed by Eric Richter and front man/vocalist Bryan Garris.

“‘Deep in the Willow’ and ‘Everything is Quiet Now’ are a reminder that we are heavy, intense, and extreme,” Garris tells. “Some elements come and go, but those will never change. After ‘A Tear in the Fabric of Life’ we were inspired to see how much art we could incorporate moving forward - which led us to a style of video we’ve never attempted or approached. Taking myself specifically far outside of my comfort zone and pushing the boundaries on how I’ve been seen in the past was a creative experience I will never forget. This video wouldn’t be what it is without the collaboration with Eric Richter, someone we’ve admired for a while. And the songs wouldn’t be what they are without [producer] Drew Fulk, a new friend and creative ear in the entire process.”

Expanding an already stacked slate in 2023, hard rock giants Motionless In White have shared details of their biggest North American headline run to date, “The Touring The End of the World Tour,” kicking off this fall. The upcoming trek includes support from special guests Knocked Loose, After The Burial, and Alpha Wolf.

Hitting the road in style, Motionless In White will launch this run with a very special homecoming in Scranton, PA. Standing out as their biggest hometown gig ever, they will launch “The Scranton Apocalypse Fest” on September 16th at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain. The one-off event will feature a headlining set from Motionless In White, with additional performances by Parkway Drive, Knocked Loose, The Amity Affliction, After The Burial, Northlane, Alpha Wolf, and Make Them Suffer.

On its heels, “The Touring The End of the World Tour” rolls through Pittsburgh, PA at UPMC Events Center on September 17th and various major markets across the country before closing out on October 29TH in Boston, MA at MGM Music Hall at Fenway [tour itinerary below].
