Indie dark rockers Josh Mover and The Shakers have released their debut EP "Into A Ghost". A collection of songs that long for love, deal with rejection, and the repercussions of not realizing what you have, in the hand that you hold. In short, Josh Mover and The Shakers are set to write music that divides people. So their material is a mash up of division crossed with loss, love, and everything in-between, you get tracks of works that are quite satisfying. When hearing the EP, you get an idea of how this act works their ways with music creativity. Thus, their instrumental and vocal chords intertwine together, crafting this response of the past, bringing an era of time to that of the 50's to 60's. It not just being their indie dark rock, but more of a psychobilly rock n' roll vibe as well. It's like you know what and whom they sound like, but just cannot put your finger on it. That's what makes their style and sound familiar yet still unique.  As a whole, the EP sounds well produced, flushed out, keeping all the tracks fresh in every way possible. It sounds just so hip and groovy, that it brings that indie dark rock to a more vivid tone, that is enjoyable to all who hear it.

Indie rockers Josh Mover and The Shakers have announced the release of their debut EP titled "Into a Ghost", set for release February 16th 2018. The title track "Into a Ghost" has been released and can be heard via Spotify HERE. While their newest single called "When I Steal Your Heart" can be heard HERE.

When asked about the singles and new music, Josh Mover says "At the time that I wrote “When I Steal Your Heart,” like the other songs on this record, I was trying to come to terms with a relationship that ended;  I was also  listening to quite a bit of Tom Lehrer. I particularly liked how he subverted the expectations of the genre he played in –  singing really dark, often tongue-in cheek lyrics over these poppy, piano arrangements. So when I heard his tune “I Hold Your Hand In Mine” the idea came to me to write an anti-love song from the perspective of a psychopath who’s going to take their lost love’s heart, and sell it on the black market.

The song in no way, shape, or form intends to encourage violence, but if you are ever feeling really down or worthless, it can serve as a good reminder that you’re worth plenty – somewhere out there, someone would pay over $100,000 for your ticker! (I googled that. Apparently that’s what a heart goes for on the black market. What a world!)

For "Into a Ghost", I culled together some good friends and talented Toronto rock alumni to play: Ben Reinhartz (Dilly Dally); Mathew Wronski (The Sulks); Joseph Landau (ex-Formalists), Will Hunter (The Nutrients), and Clara Klein. Mastered by David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene), and recorded and mixed at Union Sound Company by Ian Gomes (Odonis Odonis, Teenanger), this EP was recorded in a whirlwind span of two days this past September, and was largely fueled by Figs Breakfast on Queen East."

The band will be celebrating the release of their EP with a showcase happening February 23rd 2018 at Toronto’s Monarch Tavern.
