Upon it’s announcement back in Christmas time of 2024, alternative metalcore expressionists known as Kim Dracula and Japanese Harajuku-coee eclectics Hanabie, would announce a co-headlining tour set for spring time of 2025! Fast forward to present day and happening out in Orange County in the City of Anaheim at the House of Blues, would be this tour, and it would be Hanabie being the better draw than Kim Dracula.
Having arrived at the venue and inside at 8PM, Hanabie would be opening as the co-headliners of the evening, and they would pack the place in. Creating such a draw to themselves, that for the next solid hour straight, there would be countless crowd surfers, mosh pit galore, with lots of applause that everyone was quite enthralled by the experience. Their Japanese rock, metal take, would be an aspect of metal, rock, with some elements of rap, metalcore, and Jpop, to create a style that is truly unique. Lots of energy, angst, and crowd interaction throughout, with jumping thrown in for good measure, made their performance very captivating. I having seen them live before in a more smaller setting, was a way more experience, more intimate and inviting. Whilst the House of Blues Anaheim is nice, it gets too packed in, and tonight’s over crowding caused a bit of a disappointment. With the pillars aligned at various spots inside the venue, and many people being quite tall in height, it made it difficult to view the performance from inside the venue where the stage was set. So catching the show outside in the lobby area, with the TV screen was my best option, and I still enjoyed the band’s performance, would have been better to see them live inside the venue but due to the crowd that did not happen sadly.
Headlining would be Kim Dracula his type of music being metalcore, meets nu-metal crossed with trap metal, with some elemental pop too. He is one of the TikTok artists, best known for his own working’s and cover songs, tonight’s performance had the crowd actually leaving, a good majority being there for the opener’s, while all the rest remained, but it wasn’t as packed in during his set. In fact, only catching maybe roughly 30 minutes of his set, probably 3-4 songs tops, it did not draw me into his performance. His stage theatrics were so so, and his music abilities were quite the bore. A lot of the audience were singing along, while others were intrigued. But yeah Kim Dracula was not the one for me.
KIM DRACULA:
This tour may have had it’s moments, but the bigger draw was Japanese act Hanabie, they brought the crowd, more energy, and just blew everyone away. Surely an act to check out once, if not more than that. Tonight’s show was good for some performers, while others just didn’t make it worth wild all that much.
