After the announcement of their new album ‘Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts’, Autopsy peel back the skin of their new record with a bloodied single, ‘Throatsaw’. The track is whirling dervish of razor sharp riffing and serrated vocals that slice through the mix delivering that signature Autopsy sound.
 
Regarding the single, Chris Reifert had the following to say:
 
“For this selection we have decided to cast aside musical acrobatics, high-brow labyrinthian showings off of scales, sweeps and noodlings, lush sonic passages and deep audio journeys rare and untold, egotistical trains of thought and neo-classical wizardry and well…just cut your fuckin’ throat wide open and giggle like cretins while the blood sprays in every direction. Doesn’t that sound like fun, kiddies?”

Death metal legend, Autopsy, is set to defile the recording studio next month, as the band enters to lay down the tracks for its upcoming album, The Headless Ritual, due out this year on Peaceville Records. Recording will commence on April 1, 2013 at Fantasy Studios in San Francisco, Calif. with producer Adam Munoz.

Said drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert, "Expect nothing less than the monstrous brutality that Autopsy has been known to offer. Laurels will not be rested upon, trends will not be followed and mercy will not be shown. Mark your calendars for June and pick out a coffin to lie down and die in. Darkness and death await..."

Cover art has been painted by none other than the legendary Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Marduk), and it's safe to say he has outdone himself with this gruesome slice of horror.

Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, has launched a trailer for its upcoming DVD, Born Undead, on YouTube.

Born Undead charters the birth, death and rebirth of the legendary act, with an extensive documentary conducted with the band members themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years.

The film also documents the band’s long-awaited return to the studio and stage, and includes rehearsals of both new tracks and old classics for Autopsy’s live comeback assault. The trio of 2010 reunion shows are all featured, with all the best classic tracks from Maryland Deathfest, PartySan festival and also Hole in the Sky in Norway, where Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, and Danny Coralles were joined by Dan Lilker on bass.


With hours of footage, as well as extras including the band’s promo video for “All Tomorrow’s Funerals,” “My Corpse Shall Rise” and more, Born Undead is the ultimate set for all Autopsy and metal maniacs alike.

Kent Mattieu, who had collaborated with the band on its early classic (and often controversial) album covers, provided artwork for the release.

Born Undead will hit stores this August on Peaceville Records.

Born Undead charters the birth, death and rebirth of the legendary act, with an extensive documentary conducted with the band members themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years.

One of the early breed of US death metal acts, and most respected names in the genre, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco, and released four albums on Peaceville Records - beginning with the classic debut Severed Survival in 1989 - before disbanding in 1995 with members going on to form Abscess.

Autopsy triumphantly and officially returned from the grave after a 15-year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within,’ delighting critics and fans alike. West Coast death metal pioneer, Autopsy, will release its 22-track collection of re-mastered classics and rarities, All Tomorrow’s Funerals, tomorrow on Peaceville Records. The band has teamed up with Pitchfork.com to stream “Mauled To Death,” a vintage Autopsy track that will finally surface from the tomb as part of this monstrous album.

“’Mauled to Death’ is the last song from the early days that never got a proper album treatment, since it was only recorded on a 1987 demo,” said Autopsy drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert, in a chat with Pitchfork. “Now it's got the double guitar laceration attack (the original version was from before [guitarist] Danny [Coralles] joined the band), as well as some added atmospheric guitar ugliness.”

Death metal founding father, Autopsy, has revealed the cover art and track list for the band’s upcoming 22-track collection, All Tomorrow’s Funerals.

This historical album is set for a February 28th release on Peaceville Records, and will contain re-mastered versions of all of Autopsy’s past EP’s - everything from ‘Retribution For The Dead’ to the now sold-out ‘The Tomb Within’ - plus four brand new tracks.

Renowned artist, Matt Cavotta, has supplied the cover art, while all original artwork and liner notes will also be included in this monstrous collection.

Northern California death metal pioneer AUTOPSY will make a rare live appearance and headline the Gathering of the Bestial Legion festival on Saturday, January 14 at The Echo & Echoplex. This highly anticipated event was originally scheduled for August of 2011, but was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Alas, it will certainly be worth the wait!

Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, has completed recording and re-mastering work on the upcoming, All Tomorrow’s Funerals, due out February 28th on Peaceville Records. This monstrous release will contain all of Autopsy's EP's re-mastered by the band themselves, as well as new cuts, totaling 22 tracks all together. Everything from ‘Retribution For The Dead’ to the now sold-out, ‘The Tomb Within,’ will be presented on CD and DLP with all original artworks, liner notes from the band and new cover art from renowned artist, Matt Cavotta.

Said the band, “Well, we've finished recording a few new tracks for the upcoming collection album All Tomorrow's Funerals, and they came out brutal and heavy as hell. Along with the newly written songs, we did a revamped version of “Mauled To Death,” which is the very last of the old songs that needed a proper album quality recording. This album will also contain all four EP's, all of which are out of print, as well as a compilation track from 1991, so the grand total is 22 tracks. It's something we've wanted to do for quite awhile, getting all the loose chunks together in one place rather than having them split up and added on as bonus tracks here and there. Everything has been painstakingly re-mastered with the band's guidance and sounds better and more crushing than ever. And don't worry, we didn't get carried away and ruin anything! Combine all that with killer new cover art from Matt Cavotta and we've got one hell of release in the works. Look for it in February 2012. We are now working on all new material for the next album, due out late 2012/early 2013 and we can definitely promise more of what you would expect from Autopsy. There will be no compromise and no holding back. If you want 100% pure death metal brutality, you will certainly get it.”
