A Static Lullaby Sparks Reunion with Sold Out Show in OC!
Post-hardcore band A Static Lullaby out of Southern California had formed back in 2001. Since then they have gone on to play various shows, toured, released four full-length album, dealt with line-up changes, and even a break up in 2012. Only a few years would pass with the band announcing their reunion in 2015, going on to play for the first time in four years, back in 2016 with an array of California only showcases. After this had happened a minor hiatus would take place yet again, with the band bringing yet another reunion to happen for 2024; with another reunion to follow this in 2025 with a one off sold out show happening in Orange County.
This one off show would happen in the early New Year of 2025, right before Valentine’s weekend on Saturday February 8th 2025 at The Observatory. Opening the show would be acts Taken, A Thorn For Every Heart, also making a reunion, and The Juliana Theory. Starting off the show would be hardcore punks Taken, whose story time of explaining to the crowd, they had opened for A Static Lullaby way back when. They got the crowd hyped up, with energy, that everyone in the slowly packed venue would scream, shout, and be entertained even with most of them needing a babysitter for the evening. Which had a majority of the band asking this very question for a remainder of the night.
TAKEN:
Following them would be A Thorn For Every Heart, having gotten their start in 2003, around the same time frame as the rest of these bands all playing this evening. With this, the band would also have a series of reunion shows over the years, after their break up in 2009. But after years of bringing the band back together, and even releasing some new music later on, they would announce this reunion showcase, where the original members would come back together, playing off a variety of their releases, that the crowd really enjoyed. The energy was jumping with a majority of the audience jumping up and down, with others banging their head to the music. Their music was catchy, and upbeat, bringing a heaviness with a light tone, that kept such energy alive but vivid.
A THORN FOR EVERY HEART:
The Juliana Theory would be next up, bringing a more mellow alternative, rock energy to their set, their angst being emo, yet heavy with more energy provided within their set. The main man vocalist and guitarist Brett would give it his all, singing and playing the guitar on and off during the band’s set. With the rest of the band delivering just as much energy as everyone else, again they weren’t heavy in a metal sense, but still heavy that they made you second guess the delivery. In short a very entertaining set throughout with meaning and heart.
THE JULIANA THEORY:
Headliner’s of the night would be A Static Lullaby and they would go on to play for a good hour and 30 minutes, play an array of tracks off their four albums, including a cover song by pop artist Britney Spears called “Toxic”. Other such songs like “Stand Up”, “The Shooting Star That Destroyed Us”, “Hang Em’ High”, “The Art of Sharing Lovers”, and “Lipgloss and Letdown”, were some of the tracks played that set the whole place off! The whole crowd gave off that old 2000’s aggression that kept that era alive, even with everyone there being roughly in their mid-30s’. It felt as it we were in a time machine re-living the glory days of our youth. Loads of crowd surfers were thrown atop one another making their way to the stage, with others trying to stage dive, some being a miss landing on the floor. All the rest hardcore danced in the pit, with everyone else pushing and shoving one another left and right. It was so much fun and packed in that is what made this night unforgettable.
A STATIC LULLABY:
All in all, this series of reunions happening tonight, made this night just so downright fun! A Static Lullaby brought it back to life, making their sound, sound the same even with them being a little older, with all the other bands following suite, making all of us there pleased as fruit punch out of the 90’s to 00’s.
A Thorn For Every Heart Announce Reunion Show
A Thorn For Every Heart have announced a reunion show with the following message made via their Facebook page; "We are very excited to announce we'll be playing the Get Busy Living Festival June 7th at the Granada Theatre in Ontario, California. There will be 15 bands total! The first announced include Speaking the Kings, Gigantes and Stanley and the Search."

1. Introduce yourself and what has the response been so far for "Pick Up The Pieces,"?
I'm Ryan, Pick Up the Pieces has been doing very well people are really into it, Its a step away in some ways from our first record Things Aren't So Beautiful Now, And we are all really stoked that kids are into the new CD as much as they are.
2. How did the band's sound progress from "It's Hard to Move You," to "Pick Up The Pieces,"?
I'd say that Pieces leans more into the rock then Its hard to move you, Its hard to move you was pop and very very radio friendly I mean don't get me wrong Pieces is radio friendly as all hell, but the direction that was taken on the new record was more rock, Kelvin had a lot to say on this record about the past year and half of the bands life.
3. Where did the album title come from?
It came from the title and opening track Pick Up The Pieces.
4. Are you excited for the Superbowl?
I personally hate sports, No offense to anyone I'll still love you if your into sports, I don't even know who's in the super bowl.
5. Do you or the band have any pre-concert rituals?
Loads of warming up normally
6. What are your tour essentials?
Mine personally are my iPod you need it for all those late nights driving,my laptop,my phone, Axe, and my four best friends, I just realized I need technology so much
7. What was the first concert you attended as a fan?
It was in 2004 i think, and it was Fall Out Boy, Matchbook Romance, Taking Back Sunday & The Used, Yeah I'm a loser I waited until after high school to go to my first show.
8. Any tour horror stories?
This is the first one that comes to mind with me, We were driving to Bakersfield from Modesto, We were trucking it trying to get there on time (We try and be on time) Phil was driving and decided to pull into a rest stop to go to the bathroom, I get out of the van and some guy comes up and says "You should check your trailer your tire is smoking" so we walk back to the trailer and see that our tire has black crap all over the rim and come to find out our ball baring I think it was was seizing and our tire nearly fell off, Thank you business looking white man at the rest stop!
9. What do you do when you're not on stage or in the studio? Do you have a "day job"?
Yup we have day jobs.
10. Was there ever a record that you didn't go out on tour to support it?
"It's Hard to Move You," was the only record we never went out to support but it was never released.
11. Any final thoughts of wisdom?
