Vesta Collide Discusses a New Obession

Vesta Collide have got a brand new debut album titled "New Obession". It took the band sometime to write and record for it, but in the end, it's getting the band going places, including them taking the time, to discuss this release and the plans they have for the future.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Vesta Collide is a Metalcore band from Detroit, MI, formed in 2014. Jacob and Alex Honeycutt are cousins and met Mark through social media. We then picked up Alex Kuzmanovic who played in Detroit local bands prior to joining Vesta Collide. We had a different drummer in the band during our first two songs and after that, he left to pursue a career in recording and engineering. That's when Max came into the picture, after meeting through social media. Then the New Obsession lineup was solidified.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The origin of the band's name.. truthfully the name is meaningless and was just a way to stand out and identify ourselves. Coming up with a name that sticks and is agreeable is a very tedious and frustrating process. We sat on a list of over 100 names for months and months and could not agree on one. So eventually the name Vesta came up. But we didn't want just a one word name because we felt like it can be near impossible to find and identify one word names. So we added to it and after awhile just decided to go just go with it!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Vesta Collide is based out of the Metro-Detroit area in southeast Michigan. The music scene is very strong in Detroit. There are many successful bands to have come out of the area such as I See Stars, We Came as Romans, and I Prevail. We would recommend Westhand to anyone looking for up-and-coming artists from our local scene.

4. How would you describe your style?

Simply put, we are a metal band that incorporates many metalcore and post-hardcore elements into our music with a very dark portrayal.

5. What can be said about your latest albun, and why should people go check it out?

We are very happy with the way the album turned out. We have a great team behind us and we've had many positive reviews published in regards to the album. The response to the album has far exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be more thankful.

6. If you had to pick one song of yours, for someone to hear, to be introduced to you guys, which one would you pick and why?

I Can't Sleep. The track showcases exactly what Vesta Collide is. It contains a hard-hitting intro, a powerful chorus, and fast-paced riffs. It's structural diversity is what makes this song such a good representation of the album and of our band.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We're currently in between tours staying in Las Vegas. The Ten Frail Years of Vanity and Wax Tour with Alesana starts in Portland, Oregon on February 4th, and ends in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 18th. That is all that we have announced for the year thus far, but we have many things planned for the rest of 2017.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We want to keep making music, keep touring, and keep growing as a band. We are all very passionate about what we do. We are planning to be on the road a lot in 2017 so stay tuned!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

The easiest ways to stream our music is on Spotify and/or YouTube. Our album is available for purchase on most digital music distributors. Most people use iTunes or MerchNow.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We want listeners enjoy what they hear so they become fans and stay up to date with us. We want to offer music that hits hard, is upbeat, is heavy, but at the same time it is diverse. We hope to make an impact on the scene and to make as many fans as we can!
