As the frontman of legendary Swedish maniacs Nifelheim, Hellbutcher stands among the most elite figures of the black metal underground, and with his eponymous new band, HELLBUTCHER, his frenzied mission continues conjuring sounds of pure blasphemy and absolute musical Armageddon. Nothing less than total metal devastation will do!

Following the end of Nifelheim, who played their final show in late 2022, Hellbutcher wasted no time in forging forward. Teaming up with old compadres in evil, guitarists Necrophiliac and Iron Beast, bassist Eld, and drummer Devastator (ex-Nifelheim), HELLBUTCHER quickly set about bringing their new vision to life. Together, they had quickly amassed enough material to record their raging, hellish, self-titled debut album, set for release on May 31st through Metal Blade Records.

Recording in various locations around Sweden, such as Devastator's own Red And Black Hall Drum Studio and Iron Beast's Chrome Studios, and producing and mastering everything themselves - "No need for an outside producer since we knew exactly how our band should sound" - it is a record that stands proud and unambiguous as a work or pure, metallic mayhem.

From the album's opener, the crazed "The Sword Of Wrath," HELLBUTCHER's intent is loud and clear: Channeling the spirit of Venom, Bathory, Iron Maiden, Exciter, Motörhead, Mercyful Fate, and the aggressive spirit of true heavy metal. It's an explosion of diabolic evil, performed relentlessly by true masters of the form.

Elaborates Hellbutcher of the band's latest single, "The title 'Hordes Of The Horned God' was inspired by an old Dissection song where Jon [Nödtveidt] mentions 'my god has horns.' I crafted the song with an epic yet raw and thrashing feel. The intro riff recurs in various forms, shaping both the chorus and the end of the mid-section of the song. Additionally, our great guitarist, known as Iron Beast, delivers some fantastic guitar solos on this track."

Closely following their recently wrapped and highly successful tour of North America, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS are back at sea to release their stunning second single, “Monsters”, taken from their upcoming album, 'Pirates II – Armada', set for release on July 5, 2024 via Napalm Records. The pirates of VISIONS OF ATLANTIS are about to take listeners on their heaviest symphonic adventure yet with their new studio album and successor to their high-charting previous release, 'Pirates' (2022). The album reaches as high as the waves cresting the Jolly Roger - taking everything that has been achieved to date to another level.

The new track, “Monsters”, is a haunting musical adventure illustrating the confrontation with inner monsters, beginning with calm passages that burst into a rhythmic refrain, showing off the full musical power of the pirate queen Clémentine Delauney and brave captain Michele Guaitoli. With this preview of the second chapter of the pirates’ saga, VISIONS OF ATLANTIS prove that they are more than ready to claim the crown of symphonic metal and are eager to take stages by storm on their European tour this fall. Their raid will begin with their fulminant album release show in Aschaffenburg on July 6, 2024, and will continue in the fall with the extensive Armada tour boasting 33 shows all over Europe – the biggest headliner tour of their promising career so far. Brace yourself and get ready for this unique symphonic metal spectacle!

Vocalist Michele Guaitoli comments: “We fought the raging storms, the most dreadful foes, and the darkest nights. Yet the worst enemy appears to be something we cannot face with cannons and sabers. This battle will be the hardest, as it’s time to look straight into the eyes of the ‘Monsters’ inside of us. Proud and without fears, we’re ready. Are you?”

German rising symphonic metal force ELVELLON is back with an electrifying announcement as they unveil their captivating new single, "The Aftermath Of Life", from their upcoming album 'Ascending in Synergy', set to be released this Friday, May 17, 2024! "The Aftermath Of Life" is accompanied by an official music video that promises to seduce the listener’s senses.

Dubbed as “heroes of tomorrow“ by Metal Hammer Germany, ELVELLON is no stranger to praise. Following their critically acclaimed 2018 album, 'Until Dawn', which featured the track "Born From Hope", which amassed over 1.3M views and 2.5M streams across platforms, the hype for 'Ascending in Synergy' is palpable. Since its inception in 2010, ELVELLON has already graced stages at prestigious festivals such as RockHarz Festival, M’era Luna, and Rock Fest Barcelona, both at home and abroad.

The countdown is on, so ensure you've secured your pre-order to experience the magic!

ELVELLON state: "´The Aftermath Of Life´ is a song that perfectly combines two different sides of Elvellon, which are heavy guitar riffs with dark keyboard sounds and big choruses with catchy melodies. Thematically, it's about the process that all of us who have made it to this day can accept decay and aging as part of life and make peace with it."

Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome Oxnard, California crossover collective DEAD HEAT to its iconic roster!

Forged in 2016 in, DEAD HEAT is known for their high-energy live performances and aggressive sound that draws influence from various subgenres of thrash, punk, hardcore, and metal. DEAD HEAT's music is characterized by fast, thrashy riffs, driving rhythms, harmonious leads, and intense vocals that often veer into screamed or shouted terrain. Thematically, the band delves deep into social and political issues, as well as personal struggles and experiences.

In addition to crafting pulverizing music, the DEAD HEAT crew is notorious for their DIY approach to punk/metal culture and their involvement in the broader hardcore scene. The band members are regularly involved in booking shows and events in their local scene, as well as supporting various social and political causes.

Comments vocalist Christian Ramos of the band's union with Metal Blade Records, "To be part of a label that has put out some of our favorite records and has had some of our favorite artists is without words an absolute honor!"

Adds rhythm guitarist Justin Ton, "We're on the same label that birthed Slayer and put Metallica on the map. It's an honor."

States Metal Blade's Ryan Williams; US A&R, "DEAD HEAT fucking slays; it's an honor to welcome them to the Metal Blade family."

Evil Dead, a comedy horror franchise created by Sam Raimi, has had five films and a TV series, with an adaption turned into a musical! Said musical first being introduced back in 2003, making a run in 2006, and would later spread over the years, making it’s way around come now in 2024! Taking place in Fullerton, California, out of Orange County in a small theater called the Maverick Theater.

A small theater, showcasing an array of programs, including Evil Dead in the mid spring time, all its shows would sell out instantly, grabbing tickets during the Mother’s Day weekend, this show is NOT meant for children but for adults ONLY! This Evil Dead Musical taking in all elements of the cult classic film franchise, from Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness Evil Dead 3! Centered around five collage students, going out on spring break, head out into the woods, to an abandoned cabin, where they unleash such evil that it takes hold of them all! Blood is spilled, with the front row dedicated to getting bloody, whilst limbs get dismembered, demons get turned and jokes are spread far and wide. A lot of songs sung including such as “What the Fuck Was That?”, “I’m Not a Killer”, “"Do the Necronomicon", “We Will Never Die”, a lot of these numbers, being very rock n’ roll based material, hitting hard with the notes and lyrics.

Lots of laughs, lots of blood, it was a bloody good time, from start to finish really. If you’re a fan of horror, let alone the Evil Dead franchise as a whole, then you will totally “get” the inside jokes and jabs at the films, this musical is based on. The cast themselves with Ash being played by Steven Alcantar, Annie/Shelly played by Hailey Tweeter, Scott/Jake played by Jaycob Hunter who was a total riot, with Cheryl played by Samantha Green, Linda played by Elana Harnack, and Ed played by Aizaiah Soto. The blood soaker was Alex Wesevich who was also the bartender as well! The blood being non-toxic, but still a lot of fun to be soaked with! The front row had a glass protection for the rows behind it, blood spraying on the guests in the “splatter zone” in the front row, with blood spilling on the stage itself. The sets, production, and music were again all done so well, and so much was put into such detail, that it brought the films to the stage so well it was uncanny.

Having the book and lyrics done by George Reinblatt, this take of the Evil Dead Musical was one to be remembered, so much fun, so funny, and lots of blood was spent, with the sold out crowd, really getting into it, with lots of laughs, cheers, and claps of approval. There were some mishaps with minor technical difficulties of the audio, cutting out or not tuning properly, but minus that, again this show was well worth the experience; both bloodiest, craziest, and funniest that you find it impossible not to love it; being brought thanks to a little theater called the Maverick Theater, the theater that could and would, outdo itself.

Coheed and Cambria is sharing a rare stand-alone track, “The Joke” out today! The new song comes from the Vaxis II LP sessions, and the band is happy for it to finally see the light of day. It comes paired with the b-side “Deranged,” a remixed and remastered version of the track which was previously released in 2011 as part of the Batman: Arkham City soundtrack. “The Joke” is available everywhere digitally via Evil Ink / Virgin Music, and Coheed and Cambria is offering two different colored 7” vinyl versions via www.coheedandcambria.com. In addition, Revolver and Brooklyn Vegan will be offering their own exclusive versions of the 7”, as will Sanchez’ label www.evilink.com.

“The meaning behind ‘The Joke’,” shares singer Claudio Sanchez, “is basically, if you need a punching bag, I’ll be that guy.” The song is coupled with a video where we find one of Coheed’s The Amory Wars universe’s fan favorite characters “Al The Killer” being bullied by a nefarious prankster. “Deranged” focuses on the co-dependent relationship between Batman and The Joker. The song has been remixed and remastered for its return to DSPs after being unavailable for the past few years. Both tracks were mixed by Zakk Cervini.

Canadian modern power metal icons UNLEASH THE ARCHERS recently announced the upcoming release of their massive sixth studio album, 'Phantoma', out this Friday, May 10, 2024 via Napalm Records! Following their highly-acclaimed latest singles "Green & Glass", “Ghosts In The Mist” and “Seeking Vengeance”, today, the band ushers in release week with epic album closer anthem "Blood Empress". The track tells a bittersweet tale with spine-tingling, grooving choruses before closing with a grandiose blastbeat attack amid a sea of voices.

On the new concept album, listeners join protagonist Phantoma, a Phase 4 / Network Tier 0 unit - model A, on an inspiring yet harrowing journey as she discovers the brutal truths behind the manufactured sheen of social media posturing on a dystopian, near-future planet earth. With the band’s one-of-a-kind blend of power metal, traditional heavy metal, modern prog, and pop sensibilities, 'Phantoma' spins a web of sharp musicality, high sci-fi concept, and important social commentary.

Brittney Slayes of UNLEASH THE ARCHERS says about “Blood Empress”:

"This was the last song that we wrote for the album and we wrote it together in our Airbnb while we were recording. We always like to save one song to write together in the studio to give a kind of snapshot of the headspace we were in while recording, and this one was a ton of fun. We wanted to do a bit more of a radio rock track and have it be something simple that would be a blast to play live and potentially end the set with. The album story ends with Phantoma having destroyed both The Collective and the Human Council that once stood against her, but now she had all of robotkind and humankind looking to her for where to go next. We wanted the song to feel dark but also triumphant, and to hopefully be catchy enough to make the listener want to start the album all over again. The video was filmed once again by RuneGate Studio and they did an awesome job with finding a set that could parry between both the synthetic and the human sides of the story. We all love this track in UTA and hope that you all can bang your heads to it too!"

U.S. metalcore act Like Moths To Flames will release their new album The Cycles Of Trying To Cope out now via UNFD.

Today, the band has dropped the gloriously eerie video for "Over the Garden Wall."  The video presents haunting and downright creepy images, as it finds the band performing in the woods as the sun is going down, juxtaposed with other ominous footage.

"This song has a lot of parallels with the body representing a home," LMTF vocalist Chris Roetter explains.

Check it right over HERE.

SIX FEET UNDER's Killing For Revenge, their fiery fourteenth studio album, is out now on Metal Blade Records!

In celebration of the record's release, the band drops a lyric video for "When The Moon Goes Down In Blood," created by Reino Aedmäe who also produced visualizers for "Zodiac" and "Blood Of The Zombie" from SIX FEET UNDER's Nightmares Of The Decomposed offering.

Comments legendary frontman Chris Barnes of "When The Moon Goes Down In Blood," "I think all of the songs on the album deal with revenge in one way or another. That's why the album's called Killing For Revenge. Each song has that as a theme in it, whether it be man against man, or nature against man. There's a macabre core theme and it's more straightforward as far as lyrics go and the tone of the storyline really being a lot more horror, and generally speaking, about killing people. My mood is always really just diving into my own imagination and kind of a meditative state of concentrating and listening to the music and letting it lead me into a storyline."

Adds guitarist Jack Owen, "This was the last song written for the album. Chris suggested something 'early 1990s.' I created drum beats reminiscent of early Immolation or Suffocation, where the tempo was somewhere between a thrash beat and a blast beat. Back then we wrote guitar riffs that were simple diminished lines with tons of palm muting, just crunching along with the snare drum. The music was written pretty quickly and I sent it off to Chris and he replied. 'I got this!' Boy, did he! It turned out to be possibly the best song on the album. A brutal old-school vibe."

British Deathcore quintet Dead Flesh have unveiled their latest video for the single ‘Swallowing Nails’, which was released on March 29th, 2024. The track is taken from the band’s new EP, “Dehumanise”, out now!

Speaking about the track, the band have said: "'Swallowing Nails' is a sort of a reflection to some of the reactions myself (and people I've spoken to over the years) have had when talking to others about depression. Specifically with regards to being medicated, which is where the title 'Swallowing Nails' comes from. The EP title "Dehumanise" also came from this track, having often felt like like my brain is being numbed, I've sometimes questioned if I've lost a sense of humanity."

Speaking about their upcoming EP, they continued: ""Dehumanise" is a personal dive into misery, depression, and the state of the world in its current form. Dead Flesh bring five tracks of brutality that give a stark representation of personal struggle."

Dead Flesh are a five-piece deathcore band from Hertfordshire. Formed in 2021, Rich, Chris, Mike, Adam, and Nelly come from an experienced background of musical talent and the ambition to bring their unique deathcore sound, hellish lyrics, and breakneck energy to a wide audience across the UK.

They released their first self-titled single 'Dead Flesh' in 2022, after working with Justin Paul Hill (SikTh), and became finalists in Hitchin's Metal 2 the Masses, after less than a year of performing together.

The video can be found HERE.

Metalcore act VENTURES released their debut EP, follow-up EP, single's, with newest single being "Melt with Me", with yet another single out soon enough. The band discusses themselves with us, music style, and wanting to set out on touring, with some shows lined up already. So much more is said in our discussion right below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Ventures began in 2017 out of a shared passion for live performances, something all the original members missed from their previous bands. We initially started jamming with a few friends before solidifying the final lineup with Ollie May on vocals, Liam Gaffey on guitar and backing vocals, Richard Taylor on guitar, Nathan Holt on bass, and Jon Burrows on drums. Over the next few years, Ventures cultivated a modest following in Manchester. In early 2023, both Liam and Nathan decided to step away to focus on other aspects of their lives. Jordan Etches then joined as the bassist, and Ventures continued as a quartet. Given that each member has been friends since childhood, it felt like we were building something special with people we already cherished.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Initially, we hadn't planned on choosing a name, as our focus was solely on writing and performing for
the sheer joy of it. However, as we advanced, we recognized the necessity of a name for fans to locate our music on streaming platforms and elsewhere. We dedicated several weeks to brainstorming and tossing around various names. The only concept we all embraced was a single, easy-to-recall word. Then, one day, as we casually scanned our surroundings for inspiration, someone suggested "Ventures," reflecting our collective journey into this endeavor.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Ventures are primarily located in and around the Manchester area, except drummer Jon, who hails from Sheffield. Our local music scene has experienced significant growth in recent years, and it's been inspiring to witness some of our friends seize incredible opportunities. For instance, Portrayal of Ruinn had the chance to perform at Bloodstock a few years ago, and definitely keep an eye on Sparrowhawk and Pleo. ;)

4. How would you describe your style?

We avoid confining ourselves to a specific style, as each member has their own musical preferences. Richard's playlist will go from Usher to Lorna Shore, while Ollie's can span from Heavy DnB to Luther Vandross. However, when it comes to Ventures, we aim to stay rooted in Metalcore while incorporating as much diversity as possible. That said, nothing is ever off the table. We have a motto in the band: "How can we make it sound like Ventures?"

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

In 2019, we introduced our self-titled debut EP "Ventures," which quickly gained traction with tracks like "Happy Hour" and "Paradise Lost" emerging as fan favourites. Following this success, we released the single "Solitude" later in the same year, marking Ollie's debut as our vocalist. Moving forward, 2022 saw the unveiling of our cult-themed EP "Error 404." Throughout 2023 and 2024, we've continued to release singles, such as "Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right B, A, Start," featuring the incredible Mason Williams from Virtue In Vain, and "Reminisce," with more releases planned. Excitingly, we're dropping "Melt with Me" on May 17th, followed by "Portrait" six weeks later, with more to come.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Our latest single, "Melt with Me," is set for release on May 15th, and it's been a labour of love over several years to reach a point where we're satisfied with the final result. Interestingly, during the writing process, we all went through a phase of disliking the song, but upon hearing the finished product, we believe our fans may have a different perspective. Following "Melt with Me," we're excited to unveil "Portrait," which showcases a different dimension of our musical capabilities. As always, we remain open to exploring diverse styles. Some fans have already had the opportunity to experience "Portrait" live, and the feedback has been encouraging.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Currently, we're on the lookout for bands to join on tour, so our touring schedule is a bit quiet at the moment. However, we do have some local shows lined up for 2024 in various towns:

    • May 25th: Old Pint Pot, Salford
    • June 8th: Twisted Tongue, Whitehaven
    • June 28th: The Rutland, Chesterfield
    • July 12th: Old Pint Pot, Salford
    • July 29th: Aatma, Manchester City Centre
    • November 29th: The Rutland, Chesterfield

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Our primary focus is on our current writing projects, with an eye toward the future, as anything is possible. As we continue to cultivate a stronger fan base, we eagerly anticipate sharing our work with a wider audience.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find us on all the usual platforms under @Venturesmetal, and we also have a website at www.venturesband.com, where you can find links to all our music and our online store.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

If our music has ever resonated with you or brought a smile to your face, just remember that it's the love of music that binds us all together, both as a band and as listeners.

Up and coming act AMAROK have had seven full-length album's since formation, the band talks of their name, forming, and wanting to tour to promote their latest release and themselves as much as possible. Check it all out below, plus much more too!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Amarok is music project founded in 1999 by guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Michal Wojtas and guitarist Bartosz Jackowski. Between 2001 and 2004 Amarok released three international albums. Since 2003, the formation transformed into Michal’s solo project. 2017, after a 12-year break, Amarok’s fourth album, ‘Hunt’, was released. Special guests were again Colin Bass and Mariusz Duda. Marta Wojtas, who wrote the lyrics, also joined the line-up permanently. In 2019 Michal collaborated with British choreographer James Wilton which resulted in Amarok’s fifth album – ‘The Storm’ for the show of the same name. As of 2021, Amarok has expanded its line-up with two more musicians – Konrad Zielinski (dr) and multi-instrumentalist Kornel Poplawski. Amarok’s sixth album, “Hero”, was released in autumn 2021. Amarok became a regular band. In the middle of 2023 we started recordings for the newest album “Hope”. Amarok also tours, sharing the stage with artists such as Nick Mason (Pink Floyd), Gazpacho, Riverside and many others.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

The name Amarok was inspired by Mike Oldfield's album of the same title. In the 1990s I was fascinated by Oldfield's music. Currently, Amarok is the mythological Inuit wolf for us.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based in Warsaw. The Polish rock scene is pretty big. You've probably heard of bands like Riverside or Collage.

4. How would you describe your style?

For me this is difficult to describe our style in one word. I think that this is a combination of different things. If you’ll take a piece of rock and mix it with such genres like electronica and folk music you got what we play. The key is a making right balance for each genre in the right proportions. Some describe as neo progressive rock band. We take something from the past, something that inspired us at the time and then try to add a fresh and modern vibe into this.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Amarok's latest album, is the seventh in the band's discography. In addition to the Amarok records, I have also recorded other albums, such as for the pop-rock band I used to play in - Uniqplan 'Wilderness' or also Michal Wojtas' solo 'Lore' with music for a performance by British choreographer James Wilton - it is Slavic folk.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently focused on touring to promote the Hope album but it is always after the release of a new record that the time comes to think about the next album. For me it has already started :)

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Yes, we have just started with a tour of Poland, then we will play festivals and in the autumn we are planning a tour of Europe. In general, we love our audience, which grows bigger every year and with every album. Each time the audience shows very positive feedback, which gives us great strength and each time we look forward to the next tour.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We just want to do what we do by making music, releasing new albums and playing all over the World. Last year we played in South America. It was amazing. Would be nice to do a US tour. We’ll see.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our music is present on all streaming platforms, including Bandcamp. For lovers of physical media, we have CDs as well as beautifully released vinyl in various colours! Just go to our website www.amarok.pl. You can also hear us live. Be sure to check out our website amarok.pl , maybe we'll play in your town soon!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

For us, it is a pleasure to hear or observe the reactions of our listeners. We would like our listeners to fall in love with our music for the first time and stay with us forever. :) Thank you! - Michal

Guitarist Kerry King, best known as forming thrash 80’s legends Slayer way back when, whom had their time to shine until 2019, has decided to go solo after the band’s retirement back then. Until recently when that band actually announced their return, but besides that being a thing, Kerry King has gone solo with his debut work’s titled “From Hell I Rise”, debuting summer time 2024.

Releasing not one, but two single’s off it first called “Idle Hands” and the second being “Residue”, both tracks were well received by the fans old Slayer and newer fans of course. The styling being very much like Slayer’s tone except more vibrant and new. Aside from Kerry being a part of the band on guitars, Phil Demmel is on guitars, along with drummer Paul Bostaph formerly of Slayer, Testament, Forbidden and Exodus, came on board to join, along with Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders, and frontman vocalist Mark Osegueda of Death Angel. Together this formation has created a solid piece of work both in band membership and musically.

The album had begun work upon it back in 2020, with King mentioning how he had more than two albums’ worth of music ready for it,  saying that he and drummer Bostaph that this new project would sound like Slayer but not it being Slayer for the most part. With a follow-up album already a work in progress according to King. But regardless, the material with just these two single’s alone, have set up the rest of the album really, a lot of the other stand out tracks such as “Where I Reign”, "Crucifixation", "Everything I Hate About You", "Rage", and the title track "From Hell I Rise", are all collective pieces, that create that momentum that Slayer is best known for except with King at the helm of it. A lot of solo working’s and energy given forth, with both guitarists in Kerry and Demmel going off one another, making such a fuss it makes the music more entrancing. King stays true to his classic rootage with this raw stack of songs, creating something refreshing yet memorable that fans of past work’s and this new material would nod and admire it from all sides.

The production and mixing done on this release is high quality material, that being produced by Josh Wilburm the album is everything Slayer could have been, if the band would have continued. That not being a bad thing, not at all, it is admirable really. Likely the material with these tracks, and the album as a whole, is just that a collect of tracks that I would consider simply as Slayer 2.0.

Canadian modern power metal icons UNLEASH THE ARCHERS recently announced the upcoming release of their massive sixth studio album, 'Phantoma', out May 10, 2024 via Napalm Records! Following the album's first two singles "Green & Glass" and “Ghosts In The Mist”, today, the Vancouver-based five-piece has revealed their soaring third single, “Seeking Vengeance”, along with a new music video! Beginning with a fast-paced guitar lead and modernized power metal attacks, the song entrances with a powerful chorus and intricate dual solo.

Brittney Slayes of UNLEASH THE ARCHERS says about “Seeking Vengeance”:

"This is the moment in the story when Phantoma comes to terms with what she must do and who she must become in order to do it. We worked really hard to make sure the music reflects the energy of the moment, and I think the video does a great job of portraying the inner struggle as well. This was filmed and edited by the boys at RuneGate Studio and they focused on using lighting and different lenses to create a dynamic visual experience.

"The song is the darkest moment of the album but it is juxtaposed with an uplifting chorus melody that was actually inspired by classic Disney 'hero anthems'. This one was a unanimous single choice for us and we can't wait to play it live for you all at our upcoming shows! Hope you enjoy."

Knocked Loose take it to a whole other level on their wild new single “Suffocate”.  Bludgeoning blastbeats and chaotic fury are matched with a dance-y, syncopated groove with the most concussive reggaeton rhythm you’ve ever heard. The catalyst -- Grammy nominated pop-meets-metal trailblazer, Poppy, who reached out to frontman and vocalist Bryan Garris to propose a team-up. “I am a huge fan of Knocked Loose and honored to be on this one,” tells Poppy.

The collaboration inspired the band to venture into uncharted realms, which finds Garris and Poppy trading verses about, as Garris puts it, “someone stabbing you in the back.” “It was so fun because her voice allowed us to expand our palette and do some weird, off-the-wall things that we maybe wouldn't do in another song,” guitarist Isaac Hale says of the track. “We felt that because we had Poppy’s voice involved, it allowed us to kind of push the boundaries of what we thought was feasible.”

Cleveland death metal legends-in-waiting 200 STAB WOUNDS have returned with Manual Manic Procedures, set for release on June 28th through Metal Blade Records.

A superlative sophomore effort that follows their tour de force debut, 2021's Slave To The Scalpel, the new album Manual Manic Procedures is a brutal slab of old-school death metal with a contemporary edge. Not for the faint-hearted, the record may well be the album that puts classic gore-themed ferocity back into the metal community's collective consciousness.

Slave To The Scalpel saw 200 STAB WOUNDS insinuate themselves into the minds of extreme metal fans, leading to praise from Pitchfork for their "unpretentious brilliance, pitch-black sense of humor" and an "aesthetic [that's] built around a chugging, groovy riff that stomps down a path of destruction." Manual Manic Procedures sees the band upping the ante both musically and lyrically.

The album's artwork -- graphically depicting radical surgery on somebody who may or may not be conscious -- is an immediate indicator of what this record is all about. No punches pulled, no holds barred, just blood-soaked death metal.

The themes on Manual Manic Procedures run the gamut of classic gore-metal horror subject matter, beloved to the band and their rapidly growing audience. "I'll feel what kind of vibe the song has, and what topic would fit for that particular song," vocalist/guitarist Steve Buhl explains. "The last song on the new record, 'Parricide,' is about someone going into a nursing home, and just blowing it up. The lyrics are about those type of corporations that don't really give a fuck about those people. It's all just a money grab."

The lead single is Manual Manic Procedures' opening track, "Hands Of Eternity." Buhl explains that the song is about being trapped in your own mind, something most of us can relate to. "That song is a good example of where we want to go musically. The heavy riffs are there, but there's still a lot of good melody. It's not just crazy fucking blast beats and, 'riff riff riff.' It's more structured, groovy, and melodic, but still heavy. That's one of my favorites."

Today, American thrash metal band EVILDEAD shares a new single "Subjugated Souls," from their upcoming studio album 'Toxic Grace.' The track is accompanied by a new music video.

Phil Flores comments on the new track:

"This song is about the control that devices and social media have over the youth today, and other generations. It has become the most important thing in people's lives; which is sometimes sad to see wherever you go people's faces are buried in their phones, and not a lot of personal interaction going on anymore.”

Juan Garcia adds:

"Our new single 'Subjugated Souls' follows up where 'Raising Fresh Hell,' released last month, left off. This new track is a straightforward, ramped-up banger with riffs galore! An interesting arrangement; in particular I like the heavy middle section, and also the moody guitar solo by Albert Gonzales.”

Ahead of the eagerly awaited new album ‘It Beckons Us All’ from Darkthrone, the band give fans a final tease of what is awaiting them with the release of the official video for “The Bird People Of Nordland”. Video created by Matthew Vickerstaff .

Whilst freely admitting the concept for the song “Not a very metal subject, sorry!” Fenriz explains “ it’s about the EIDER bird and Nordland. Many years ago I saw a Norwegian documentary with the symbiotic relationship the coast people of Nordland had with the bird. They watched over the nests and in return could pick the eider for pillows clothing, warmth etc. So that is what the lyrics are about.” But, he continues “again, this is Ted's song so a bit hard for me to comment on it musically but I will tell you all what I think when I hear it:

First of we have a typical grim Ted riff for the verse, then he surprises with a catchy riff for the refrain AND THEN comes my fave part of the album; the post-refrain riff which sounds like Queensryche 1984 style and you can also hear how much we enjoy to play it! EXACTLY where I want to be! Could have played that riff for 8 minutes straight, haha! This loops again with the refrain again without singing and then back to Queensryche '84. Then first riff again with my added harmony guitar playing on it, what our studio man Ole Øvstedal called "the Corleone part".

A break arrives and then things are sped up (not faster than Yardbirds in 64, we are not an extreme metal band, more like MODERAT EPIC) which corresponds with a slower heavy metal riff where we also brought out the mellotrone if I remember correctly.

Then Ted bombs you with a final part, primitive d-beat thrash with a riff that sounds like Tom G Warrior made it and I also ordered Ted to lay on some hellish guitars. Anyway, I LIVE for that queensryche 84 riff, Ted!"

Humble as ever Nocturno Culto states “Well, AGAIN, talking about our music really blows or is very difficult, at least for me. Personally, music is a floating thing, and I am having a hard time to try to break it down. It´s metal, a bit of heavy/doom/black/thrash, that is Darkthrone now, mixing genres has been something we have done since A Blaze, and especially since 2005. And I am just looking forward on new material, new riffs and ideas.”

“Crystal Mountain” was originally released in 1995 on DEATH’s Symbolic record which featured Gene Hoglan on drums and Bobby Koelble on guitar.

Hoglan shares "To the best of my recollection, Chuck wrote “Crystal Mountain” about his neighbors. Chuck was always a chill neighbor, and his neighborhood in the Symbolic era consisted of just a few homes, all spread out with a nice little acreage between each, with no fences. However, some new folks happened to move in next door. Very puritanical, extremely evangelistic and horribly judgmental, and they rather immediately took umbrage with Chuck. Perhaps due to his long hair, or the metal we’d be cranking from his garage as we rehearsed, who knows? So they decided to build an enormous fence on the property line. A gigantic eyesore, thoroughly blockading the view down the very lush and pretty street where Chuck lived. Only……they had misread their property line blueprints and mistakenly built this fence about a foot over the property line, therefore directly on Chuck’s property, with just enough room to give Chuck the working space to paint the most hilariously blasphemic and atrocious stuff on the side of the fence which faced their house. But after all, the fence was on his property, therefore becoming his fence, right? And if only those neighbors were not jerks…Man, did they ever lose it. God, we were dying."

Steve Di Giorgio quips "Crystal Mountain" is "worth more than a plastic hill."

Previously unreleased, professionally shot live footage of Death To All performing “Crystal Mountain” at Graspop Festival 2022, in Diezel, Belgium premieres today exclusively at Metal Sucks.

Watch Steve Di Giorgio dedicate the song to his good friend, dearly departed Chuck Schuldiner, the mastermind of Death who passed away in 2001 (RIP)

KNOTFEST Iowa is upon us. Today the globally renowned event has revealed its 2024 lineup including the hometown return of Slipknot, the festival’s headliner and founders.  With a unique set drawing heavily from their 1999 debut, Slipknot will celebrate 25 years of the self-titled album along with their fans, in the band’s birthplace of Iowa.

Slipknot are bigger than ever.  Those who witnessed those early days could justifiably have thought the band would never last this long - most artists that debut with such a burning intensity and a complete disregard for the existing paradigm, cannot last.  But Slipknot’s unapologetic ferocity spoke to an entire generation, and quicker than anyone outside the band expected, they were also speaking FOR that generation.  Now generations in, Slipknot’s message, songs and art resonate even more powerfully.  This is where it all began.

This singular moment in Slipknot history will be amplified with the event’s stacked lineup – Till Lindemann from Rammstein, Kentucky’s vibrant hardcore/metal forerunners Knocked Loose, metalcore influencers Hatebreed and Poison The Well, heavy metal icons GWAR, Des Moines natives Vended, in addition to Dying Wish, Zulu, Twin Temple, Holy Wars, Swollen Teeth and Spine & Dose.

Knotfest Iowa 2024 takes over Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, September 21. This year’s event will be held at Waterworks Park, which is adjacent to downtown Des Moines and where Slipknot played in 2000 on the legendary Tattoo the Earth tour.

Knotfest Iowa is thrilled to announce it will debut a revamped Knotfest Museum celebrating Slipknot’s 25 year career. A staple at Knotfests all over the world, the ante is upped this year – the Museum Experience will feature a jaw-dropping collection of artifacts from the band’s history, making this a can’t miss opportunity for fans. Tickets are strictly limited.

Knotfest Iowa isn’t just a music festival; it's a pilgrimage to the heart of where Slipknot’s legacy began. Since launching in 2012, the festival has surged into a fully immersive multi-stage event that offers unparalleled experiences across the globe including Mexico, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Finland, Australia and across South America. Additionally, Knotfest has since spun off into a successful entertainment media hub – Knotfest.com, which became a juggernaut of its own making, giving a platform to young freethinkers and like-minded artists.  All of these achievements have helped Slipknot claim their rightful seat as pioneers and thought leaders, establishing them as a generational talent.
